Chapter 20 Aftermath

Destiny's Dominion · 第二十章 事后

"It's simply unbelievable, unbelievable! This is just too incredible—"

As soon as the two walked out of the principal's office, William was brimming with excitement, almost to the point of dancing: "Amo, I'm so proud of you! From now on, Amo, you're my best friend, my best buddy."

Li Mochen looked at him with a helpless expression: "Do you really need to be this excited, William?"

"Of course I do. You not only helped me keep my scholarship, but also got me another one."

William raised his eyebrows: "And that was our college's vice principal, someone who could run for state senator later, but he was utterly defeated in front of you, Amo, and got counterattacked."

"But we won't get that money until three months later."

Li Mochen's expression turned serious: "Listen, William! I'm sure you were implicated because of me this time. Someone is targeting me, you know? Also, I think it's not just the scholarship that's problematic; maybe our jobs at the Chinese restaurant are gone too."

"Is that so?"

William Jacques was smart and quickly understood. Obviously, without a special reason, that vice principal wouldn't deliberately make things difficult for two students like them. But then he shrugged nonchalantly: "If it's gone, it's gone. We can just work somewhere else. I know a buddy who's a manager at a nightclub; we can try there. The pay won't be too bad either. Amo, you're handsome; if you learn a bit about mixing drinks, you could try applying as a bartender. That pays well—the girls in the club will definitely open their wallets for you. And don't say things like implicating me; you helped us today, didn't you? I almost got choked to death by that guy."

Li Mochen smiled wryly; he now felt a bit more fondness for this guy.

"But don't get too happy too early. Today was just a verbal agreement; that vice principal could change his mind anytime."

"Change his mind?"

William became anxious again: "Would he? Andre, I think he's a man of his word."

This concerned the pickup truck he had his eye on, which had seemed within reach.

"It's unlikely, but I'll add some insurance over these three months."

Li Mochen replied casually; he actually didn't think the vice principal would go back on his word.

Offending him, a member of the Wieldenstan family, would do Georgia no good.

Especially now that the one who had asked for help to cut off his livelihood was his own sister. Under these circumstances, Georgia would think twice.

If the original owner were to smash the pot and truly return to the family, Jennifer could bear his wrath, but this vice principal could not.

The smart move now was to avoid offending either side as much as possible, and their vice principal was clearly a smart man.

So he had said those words just to keep William from getting too carried away.

"As for that Hancock, can you handle him? I don't think he'll let it go."

"Of course!"

William was confident about this: "Hancock has been with Blood Fang since he was fifteen, selling marijuana and ecstasy for them at school. He's especially vicious. I offended him over a small matter once, so he just wanted to take revenge this time. I don't think he really believes I know where Andy Jalen is. So next, I just need to make him understand that even without Black Prison Skull, I'm not someone to mess with. Don't forget, I'm half Asian. I'll go find Wang Xia; he should be able to help me deal with Hancock's trouble—"

Li Mochen shook his head slightly upon hearing this.

In the original owner's memory, Wang Xia was a pawn of the Chinese gang Hua Qing at school and quite influential.

William was smart, but this approach was like drinking poison to quench thirst; he might get deeper and deeper into trouble later. However, given William's position, there really wasn't a better option.

America's gangster forces were powerful, supporting many strong 'outlaws.' Some particularly strong ones even had legendary or even demigod-level fighters, capable of open war with the government. For a minor student born in a slum, these were behemoths they couldn't resist.

The key was that many young people took pride in joining them, and William Jacques himself wasn't very resistant. Such was the trend; no need to blame.

"And you, Amo, you offended him today too. I reckon when we go back this afternoon, they'll definitely come looking for trouble. Don't act alone, OK? I'll handle them."

"Alright."

Li Mochen shrugged; he couldn't be bothered worrying about those school thugs.

It was just a matter of toughing it out. This approach seemed stupid and lacking strategy, but as long as he showed enough skill in cold weapon combat, he was sure Miss Louise Linden would step in for him.

Would 'Blood Fang' really offend the future master of the Linden family over a bunch of punks?

Besides, he had several ways to gain strength comparable to an outlaw in the near future.

In terms of cultivation realm, Li Mochen really couldn't improve further, but that didn't mean he couldn't enhance his individual combat power.

For example, the mechanical war beasts of the Primordial Dome Realm, or spirit beast escorts, spirit manipulation, puppetry, talisman armor techniques, and so on—

He had dabbled in these areas when he had free time. Though not as accomplished as the masters, he was far better than the average.

William then asked curiously, "By the way, Amo, how did you know our principal is about to retire? That's big news; there hasn't been a peep at school. Is it from your family?"

He had long known that his close friend was a member of the Wieldenstan family, because that surname was too prominent in Atlanta.

"Of course not. I remember I've told you more than once about my relationship with Wieldenstan. Do you want to make me angry again, William?"

Li Mochen shook his head slightly: "If you're really curious, go check the American Agriculturist, issue 1248, page five, bottom right corner, from two months ago."

"American Agriculturist?"

William looked bewildered: "They reported it? Hey, Amo, you've got to tell me in detail, or I won't be able to eat lunch. You don't really expect me to look up a newspaper, do you? A two-month-old newspaper—who knows where to find it?"

"Enough!"

Li Mochen said with a hint of helplessness: "In Ontario Town, Abraham State, there's an estate of fifteen hundred acres that was bought, and the buyer was our principal—"

As he said this, Li Mochen stopped walking. Before them was their classroom; the next class was history.
