Chapter 401: Obtainment
Destiny's Dominion · 第四零一章 得偿
Although the FBI's search came up empty, the Alliance Wings fleet still lingered outside Savannah Harbor for half a day, until a rough conclusion to the incident was reached.
Rambo Andor was suspended without any suspense. Eliza estimated that even if someone tried to protect him, he might not be able to keep his position.
Then the Chief Information Officer of the Atlanta branch and the head of the Emergency Response Team were both transferred to the FBI's Central Archives.
Also, Rear Admiral Bertram Barton of the Navy was transferred to serve as commander of the Larol Naval Base, which was essentially a banishment to the frontier.
"It's expected that at least one of these three FBI positions will belong to our Targaryen family."
Eliza reported the good news to Li Mochen over the phone: "Our first choice is, of course, the head of the Anti-Smuggling and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, a position of low rank but great power. The other two positions, though important, would be like sitting on a fire given the current situation in Atlanta. Of course, whoever becomes the head of that unit won't cause you trouble anymore. If they gain enough benefits in the Antoria Continent, they won't neglect this department again."
"A certain member of my family asked me to tell you that you did a great job this time. But he also advises you that it's best not to expose the videos you recorded to the public."
That was just one aspect; Senator Claire also brought good news.
Ferguson Cultural Media Company was preparing to sell its 'Rhode Island Comics Press,' 'Dante Press,' 'St. George Daily,' and all copyrights owned by the two publishing houses to the Rising Sun Press for a total of 34 million gold shields.
Senator Claire's implication was that this was the price for Li Mochen to stop his relentless pursuit on all fronts, especially not resorting to force.
Behind Director Rambo Andor was a family long entrenched in politics. Though highly influential, they were not particularly strong in military and financial power.
But the key was the election season. Li Mochen's extortion seemed to have hit the Conservative Party's weak spot. Before the election ended, the Conservative Party was unwilling to see more incidents in Atlanta.
Nanette Drew, however, scoffed at this. According to her information, after Mandiv Ferguson was removed from the board, several landmines exploded at Ferguson Cultural Media Company that far exceeded the directors' expectations. This media group, with total assets reportedly over 6 billion gold shields, had a deficit of nearly 700 million, which Mandiv had concealed through financial maneuvers.
So the company was selling off assets on a large scale to raise funds, strip debts, and ensure the core part of Ferguson Cultural Media remained unaffected.
But Ms. Drew still accepted these three institutions.
The 'St. George Daily' was dispensable to them—it was just a small newspaper covering eastern Georgia with only 400,000 subscribers. But she was quite interested in the two publishing houses.
After all these matters were settled, the Alliance Wings fleet set sail again from the sea. After sailing about 130 nautical miles south, a giant submarine the size of an aircraft carrier surfaced from the seabed.
On both sides of the submarine were unique emblems of the Braden family and Light Magic Industries.
"The Ocean Deep, displacement 93,000 tons, pretty good, right? But your cargo this time is a bit much; it'll take at least three trips. After all, it's a product from twenty years ago."
As the armed merchant ships began loading and unloading around the submarine, Anthony Braden's figure appeared beside Li Mochen.
"My father was one of the greatest arms dealers of this century. He tried every means to sell weapons produced by Light Magic Industries worldwide. The Ocean Deep was born from that—he originally wanted to build a cargo submarine that could cross the Calamity Sea. But during the voyage, it was discovered that the underwater part of the Calamity Sea was far more dangerous than imagined. Although this submarine safely withdrew from that shipwreck, its main structure was damaged, so now it can only navigate in coastal waters, doing some smuggling. Fortunately, the demand for this has been growing, so it hasn't ended up at a loss."
"It's indeed very good. I'm not in a hurry."
Li Mochen knew that although the submarine's displacement was as high as 93,000 tons, the cargo space was not much—at most 30,000 tons.
At this moment, his attention was on the exoskeleton armor Anthony Braden was wearing.
To be more precise, it could no longer be called exoskeleton armor but a magical power armor suit. Anthony Braden had eliminated the exoskeleton of previous 'Light Magic' models, making this magical armor more form-fitting, streamlined, and aesthetically pleasing.
"So this is your Light Magic Six, right?"
"Light Magic Seven. Light Magic Six was damaged by overload two days ago, but fortunately, the energy core was preserved. I made some improvements based on the original blueprints and crafted this Light Magic Seven. From current usage, it's perfect and timely."
Anthony Braden grinned proudly: "I've been bothering you here long enough, haven't I? Don't worry, I'm trying to collect the relics of the Moshra people to see if I can find another Moshra coal ball and forge a Light Magic Seven for you as soon as possible."
Li Mochen looked at a rune on the lower left side of Anthony Braden's hip and said, "There's no rush for that. But Anthony, I suggest you optimize the array on your abdomen or add a safety feature to that thing."
He thought there was indeed no hurry; he could wait until Anthony had tested it for a few months and everything was perfected before asking for it.
"Huh? What do you mean? Do you think there's a problem here?"
Anthony Braden frowned and looked down: "But I don't think so. This part has nothing to do with Moshra script; it's my area of expertise."
Li Mochen didn't know how to explain. He was indeed far inferior to Anthony in magical script. But now that his divine soul had recovered nearly half, his perception was becoming stronger and more refined. Just now, he had simply sensed some disharmony in the spiritual energy there.
This was clearly the result of Anthony's failure to fully integrate magical script with Moshra technology. And he had greedily implanted the 'Divine Right' power into Light Magic Seven, further burdening the magical energy array.
"Then Anthony, you'd better not accelerate beyond five times the speed of sound when flying. How to put it? There are too many uncertain factors."
Anthony still shook his head dismissively: "But I've already exceeded forty-five times the speed of sound during tests and maintained it for a full ten minutes. The Moshra people's energy technology is amazing; I swear I'll crack its secrets."
Li Mochen had nothing to say. He just thought that surviving forty-five times the speed of sound for ten minutes without incident—this guy's luck was truly extraordinary.
At that moment, Anthony Braden soared into the air and flew into the distance at nearly the speed of light: "Goodbye, Mr. Wiltonstein. Thank you for your hospitality—"
Just then, Li Mochen heard a loud 'bang' in his ears. He looked up in shock and saw the Light Magic Seven's rear smoking as it plummeted toward the distant sea.
"Shit!"
Li Mochen heard Anthony's angry shout: "Amo, you need to find me a high-level holy healer or a priest, and quickly!"
