Chapter 537: Precautions
Destiny's Dominion · 第五三七章 防备
“The genuine Blood Crown, when not on display, is stored here.”
In the Old Continent, in the third underground storage room of the National Museum of the Teutonic Republic, a group of people filed down the steps and entered this sealed space protected by layers of alloy walls.
“The specifications of the protective walls here, as well as the sealing array, were built entirely according to the recommendations of the Church. It is also the highest level of protection currently in the entire Old Continent. According to the assessments of several magisters, this place is sufficient to withstand a full-force attack from a lesser deity.”
“Our protective walls consist of seven layers, each three meters thick, and are infused with the ribs of the Titan God, granting them powerful defensive effects and the ability to suppress any evil spirits that enter here.”
“All the lighting here is also specially made, ensuring that all shadows and dark forces have nowhere to hide.”
“Whether in terms of time or space, there are sufficient defensive measures here.”
“These powerful defenses are not prepared solely for the Blood Crown. Seven ancient mythical artifacts are stored here, all national treasures of our Teutonic Republic.”
“Therefore, our intelligence agency has a permanent armed force stationed here, ensuring that even if a lesser deity-level figure were to intrude, everything would be foolproof.”
“There is also a summoning array here; when necessary, we can summon an Archangel to descend at any time.”
The young man wearing glasses, walking at the front of the group, paused at this moment: “So I really don’t understand, what is the Vatican still worried about? I can guarantee that this mythical artifact is very safe, and so far there have been no anomalies. Besides, no one can use it now, can they?”
“The Church of Light has sufficiently reliable channels of information. We are certain that the Blood Crown is no longer safe.”
It was a man dressed in a white holy robe, with a holy emblem of light on his chest: “And Mr. Drock, your task is to bring us before the Blood Crown, so that we can judge its condition ourselves.”
Drock shrugged and walked up to a huge alloy door. As he turned the dial at the entrance and entered the password digits one by one, the four-meter-thick door slowly opened.
“Look, this is the greatest mythical artifact of the Middle Ages—the Blood Crown, the main component of the Crimson Dragon Armor. Some believe its rank is second only to Attila the Hun’s Scourge of God.”
Behind the alloy door was a small room ten meters square, empty except for a concrete platform. On the platform rested a blood-red crown, covered with specially made bulletproof glass.
“You see, it has no anomalies. In fact, this crown has been under our constant surveillance. I assure you, my colleagues here are all diligent and responsible.”
Behind Drock, the several clergy members exchanged glances, their expressions varied. Some looked relaxed, some puzzled, and some indifferent.
“Rodrigo.”
It was still the middle-aged man in the white holy robe. He turned to look at one of his colleagues.
“Have you detected any anomalies?”
Rather than trusting his own eyes, he trusted his colleague more.
The latter had his eyes tightly shut, fingers forming a spell seal, murmuring incantations. After a long while, he shook his head slightly: “I’m sorry, Your Excellency Bishop Medici. I have found nothing so far. From the results of the spiritual communication, the Blood Crown is very calm. Its interior is like a pool of stagnant water, with no activity at all.”
“Nothing?”
The middle-aged man frowned, his eyes puzzled: “Then can you detect the state of the Crimson Dragon Armor?”
“Impossible.” The other clergy member shook his head again: “I can’t think of a way. As the rumors say, although they are a complete set of mythical armor, they can be used separately. I actually tried just now, but I feel that unless they are within ten thousand kilometers of each other, it’s very difficult for me to probe the Crimson Dragon Armor through their connection.”
The middle-aged man in the white holy robe perked up at this, but before he could speak, Drock exclaimed loudly: “That’s impossible! Mr. Medici, this is a national treasure of the Teutonic Republic. It absolutely cannot leave Teutonic territory!”
“Can’t you make an exception? The Medici family can provide collateral.”
After seeing the sarcastic smile on Drock’s face, the middle-aged man shook his head regretfully: “Then please strengthen the protection level here. Mr. Drock, the current state of this underground storage room cannot satisfy me or the Vatican.”
“Of course, the funds for the renovation will be fully covered by the Medici family and the Vatican. This is also the will of His Holiness the Pope!”
These words silenced Drock. He shrugged with a relieved expression: “If you insist and are truly prepared to bear all the expenses, I can submit an application to my superiors. But what level of reinforcement are you planning? There should be a specific plan, right?”
The middle-aged man in the white holy robe said nothing, silently taking out a scroll and handing it to the other. After receiving it, Drock raised his eyebrows.
“Wow, this is the Holy Vatican Light Incantation Sequence. Are you planning to replicate it here completely? That would cost quite a bit—at least five or six billion—”
“It’s worth it,” the middle-aged man said calmly. “Mr. Drock, as long as you can help us expedite this matter, the Medici family will provide you with additional compensation.”
“You’re bribing a public official.”
Drock chuckled and put away the scroll: “But I accept. Can it be done within a month? As long as you can provide sufficient materials. Now, please follow me.”
Just after Drock and the others left, the two storage room attendants who had been at the back of the group cast puzzled glances at the blood-red crown.
In their knowledge, this mythical artifact had never been as calm as a ‘pool of stagnant water.’
Previously, when the museum organized experts to test it with instruments multiple times, they had detected that the Blood Crown emitted a certain frequency of electromagnetic waves outward at regular intervals of about five seconds, covering an area of ten thousand kilometers.
Two magisters had determined that this was the Blood Crown’s attempt to find its new master, but unfortunately, over the past two thousand years, no qualified member of the Hohenstaufen family had met its recognition requirements.
The words of that clergy member just now made them suspect that something might have happened to the Blood Crown.
“Let’s go!”
The storage room attendant on the left finally shook his head and chuckled: “I guess it’s a matter of wording. Besides the regular searching of the Blood Crown, its state really is like stagnant water.”
“I think so too. But I suspect he might not have detected anything at all.”
The other shrugged and also walked out the door: “Even magisters need specialized instruments to detect it. That guy thinks he can perceive everything about a mythical artifact with just his own sensing ability—how ridiculous.”
