Chapter 82: One Sword
Destiny's Dominion · 第八十二章 一剑
"Come in!"
Li Mochen, having seen many people, could tell at a glance what this young lady had come for: "Classmate Linden, you're here about the scholarship, right?"
"Call me Louise. We're classmates."
Louise Linden's expression was slightly awkward, but she still walked gracefully to sit in front of Li Mochen: "You guessed it. I'm here about the scholarship. I've already looked into what happened between you and Georgia. You got leverage on him to win favor with Jennifer Wiltenstein, didn't you? Suspending three months of full scholarship in exchange for two athletic scholarships? After all, you're a Wiltenstein; he wouldn't dare offend you too much."
Li Mochen raised an eyebrow, then replied without changing his expression: "I don't know where Miss Louise heard this, but it's clearly all fabricated."
He knew that neither Vice Principal Georgia nor William Jacques would be foolish enough to admit it, so he denied it without hesitation.
It would be too much to ask him, a money-loving fellow, to spit out what he had already gotten.
The athletic scholarship included eight bottles of junior perfect potion per month and a living allowance of seven hundred gold shields, totaling seven thousand gold shields in wealth.
For him now, this was still indispensable. After all, no matter how good the treatment from Nathan Sports Group was, they couldn't provide cash.
Especially now, with his greed magnified ten or a hundred times, just thinking about it made his heart ache. This blonde little girl was practically trying to take his life.
Besides, he didn't think he or William had done anything to be unworthy of those two athletic scholarships.
"Andre, although I have no evidence, I can probably guess the truth. So it doesn't matter whether you admit it or not."
Louise shook her head slightly, her tone helpless: "Andre, don't you think this is unfair to the other members of the club?"
"There are plenty of unfair things in this world."
Li Mochen's response was cold: "I think there aren't many in our club who made it to the fourth round, right? So wouldn't it be unfair to me if you asked me to give up the scholarship?"
Louise frowned slightly: "Andre, you've contributed to our school. Making it to the fourth round in the individual competition helped us a lot. But everyone knows how you advanced—you were very lucky. And luck alone won't take our school further."
"Luck?"
Li Mochen curled his lips slightly, then asked back: "I have a question for Miss Louise: Why didn't you come to me before the third round of the individual competition? Why wait until after I advanced? Were you afraid I wouldn't cooperate?"
As he said this, he noticed a clear look of shame appear on her charming face.
He understood immediately, but felt no resentment or dissatisfaction.
In fact, as soon as he said that, Li Mochen regretted it. Arguing over such a trivial matter was beneath his dignity. It was true that he had obtained the spot by methods beyond the rules, and Louise came to him for the sake of this cold weapon combat club—there was nothing to resent.
But the original owner of this body, for some reason, had been provoked, inexplicably stirring up anger and hostility.
"Let's skip the unnecessary talk. It's simpler and more direct to let the sword speak. Whether I deserve this spot or not, you'll know after a try."
As Li Mochen spoke, he stood up. From his sword bag, he slowly drew a training sword.
"This is not the 'Holy Thunder Judgment' that has been sharpened, but an ordinary single-handed magic energy sword named 'Divine Power.' Its magical ability is to increase or decrease weight by tenfold, allowing one to train their arm strength while practicing swordsmanship."
Li Mochen felt that if he used that top-tier magic energy sword, it would be bullying, and there would be no sincerity at all.
"You must have brought a weapon too, right? If you can withstand three—no, just one of my strikes now, then I'll go find Georgia and voluntarily give up the scholarship. But if you can't, then please apologize to me in front of everyone in the club, OK?"
Louise Lindon was taken aback upon hearing this: "I have no problem with that, but are you serious? Just one strike from you?"
"Just one strike!"
Li Mochen raised his chin: "After one strike, I'll keep my word."
Louise, however, clearly misunderstood his intention. She showed an expression of understanding, smiled with relief, and then drew a gleaming longsword from the sword bag behind her.
"Then I won't hold back, Andre! Please be careful—"
Li Mochen's eyes narrowed, and his aura shifted. But just as he was about to strike, a middle-aged man in a tuxedo rushed in with a worried look: "Miss Louise, our distinguished guest is in trouble. There's been an accident that requires your personal attention—"
"Distinguished guest? You mean Angela?"
Louise's expression changed slightly, and she thrust the longsword back into the bag. Then she took a mobile phone from the middle-aged man in the tuxedo, speaking into it as she hurried out the door: "Angie, what happened? Rosia? Where is he? How did it come to this? Where are you now?"
Behind her, Li Mochen's face also changed dramatically. He instinctively furrowed his brow into a deep frown. Without hesitation, he used his divine sense to activate his external elixir while forming hand seals. In an instant, some dust particles gathered behind Louise, forming a tiny insect the size of an ant, which landed on Louise Lindon's shoulder.
Then, the latter's voice came intermittently to Li Mochen's ears.
"Near Russell Avenue in the south of the city, is this still inside Atlanta? They've gone mad—do they know who it is—Lena is injured? How? Wait a moment, I'll send someone over right away."
Only when Louise's figure had hurried more than forty meters away did the girl's voice completely fade.
Li Mochen remained standing still, looking through the window beside him toward the sky in the north.
Lyndon Academy was also in the southeast of the city, but it was seven kilometers away from Russell Avenue that Louise had mentioned.
Angela had been attacked over there? Come to think of it, he had sensed some faint magical energy reactions from that direction just now.
That black-haired girl should be fine, right? The butler beside her, the one named Rosia, was an outlaw whose background even he couldn't see through.
As for the several bodyguards responsible for escorting Angela out of school, Li Mochen had also secretly taken a distant glance at them, knowing that they were all powerful magic-energy professionals without exception. Among them, two had exceptionally strong qi and blood, likely being Outlaws as well.
The Lyndon family, on the other hand, was a prestigious house second only to the Wiltons in Atlanta, wielding extreme power within the city.
Although Louise Lyndon was young, she was the sole heir of the Lyndon family. The forces she could mobilize were far beyond what ordinary children of prestigious families could compare to.
So there was no need to worry at all—that girl would surely be fine.
Li Mochen thought this in his mind, but the next moment he turned decisively and walked into another meditation room on the second floor. On the way, he casually snapped a broomstick in half. Then that piece of wood rapidly sprouted and grew in his hand, eventually shaping into a human form. It sat cross-legged, like a highly virtuous monk in deep meditation.
In the next thirty seconds, Li Mochen carved dozens of runes around the meditation room and on the wooden figure.
After that, he stepped out of the room again, his entire body ethereal and illusory, moving swiftly through the surrounding shadows. Until he left the gymnasium, none of the many students and coaches inside sensed anything unusual at all.
