Chapter 047: A Solution

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第047章 办法

The magical power within Wang Bo was as vast as an abyss. A spell to detect evil spirits could easily cover all of Asia without issue. Now, holding the Philosopher's Stone, the spell's power was amplified several times over.

Now, not just Asia, but even the Eastern Hemisphere was within Wang Bo's detection range.

As the red light rapidly expanded, one red dot after another appeared. These red dots were all markers; no undead creature could escape this spell.

As the caster of the spell, Wang Bo knew exactly where these people were and how many there were.

Counting carefully, good heavens, the dense red dots numbered no less than ten thousand.

Obviously, the Zombie King could not possibly have created ten thousand zombies in such a short time. Some of these people must have been infected with the Thousand-Changing Puppet Thread.

There were even a considerable number still in the incubation period.

Once the virus erupted, they would instantly turn into zombies.

But none of this could escape the Detection Evil Spirit spell, for the Thousand-Changing Puppet Thread was, in a sense, a kind of zombie toxin, and would naturally be detected.

As the Detection Evil Spirit spell continued to expand, more and more red dots appeared in Wang Bo's perception.

Soon, the spell spread across the entire Eastern Hemisphere.

Wang Bo counted; there were about thirty thousand people in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Then, Wang Bo continued to channel his magic power. Amplified by the Philosopher's Stone, the Detection Evil Spirit spell crossed the Eastern Hemisphere and advanced toward the Western Hemisphere.

Wang Bo didn't believe the Zombie King had only left seeds in the Eastern Hemisphere; that guy was cautious, and the Western Hemisphere must have suffered too.

Sure enough, when the spell reached the Western Hemisphere, one shocking cluster of red dots after another appeared in Wang Bo's perception.

Ten thousand, thirty thousand, fifty thousand, one hundred thousand...

The number of infected climbed terrifyingly fast, peak after peak.

Wang Bo couldn't help but purse his lips. The Zombie King had been ruthless to the people of the Western Hemisphere; the number of infected was truly horrifying.

An hour later, when the spell's effect spread across the globe, Wang Bo found that the number of infected exceeded one million.

The Eastern Hemisphere had only thirty thousand, but the Western Hemisphere had over nine hundred and seventy thousand. The Zombie King had completely disregarded the people of the Western Hemisphere, infecting them wantonly—it was simply too terrifying.

This was no joke.

If Wang Bo hadn't checked today, it was possible that soon the entire Western Hemisphere would be infected.

Seeing Wang Bo open his eyes and put away the Philosopher's Stone, Hela knew the spell was over and asked, "What's the result?"

"Over a million infected," Wang Bo said. "When can you develop an antidote for the Thousand-Changing Puppet Thread? If this continues, the people of this planet are done for."

Hela said seriously, "The Thousand-Changing Puppet Thread is a very peculiar toxin. Developing an antidote is not something that can be done overnight. I need time."

"How long?"

"Maybe three to five years, maybe thirty to fifty."

Wang Bo couldn't help but roll his eyes. "In thirty to fifty years, the opportunity will be long gone."

"Since you don't have that much time, there's only one solution," Hela said expressionlessly. "Kill them. Eliminate all the infected."

Wang Bo's teeth ached. These were a million lives, not a million cabbages.

Kill them just like that? He couldn't bring himself to do it.

"Isn't there any other way?" Wang Bo asked.

Hela shook her head. She had no solution. "Maybe you can ask someone else."

Wang Bo knew who she meant, so he nodded and contacted Lady Gremory. "Are you done over there? It's been days. Poor King Yama, can't you just kill him directly?"

"Already killed," Lady Gremory said with a smile. This fight with King Yama had been very rewarding. "Besides King Yama, I also killed a Horse-Face along the way."

Wang Bo let out a soft exclamation. So, Ox-Head, Horse-Face, Black and White Impermanence, Judge, and King Yama—all had basically died at their hands.

The Yin gods projected from the Underworld should be mostly finished off by Wang Bo by now.

If nothing unexpected happened, what remained were just some structures.

Wang Bo said, "Since you're done, come to the Divine Sword Villa. I have something to discuss with you."

Lady Gremory replied crisply, "Alright, after I destroy this Bridge of Helplessness, I'll come find you."

"The Bridge of Helplessness? You found the Bridge of Helplessness?" Wang Bo couldn't help but feel a surge of joy.

Lady Gremory said, "The Bridge of Helplessness is at Mount Tai. King Yama and Horse-Face were guarding it. Now that the two Yin gods are dead, the bridge has been exposed."

Wang Bo quickly said, "Don't destroy it yet. I'll come take a look."

He teleported to Mount Tai with Hela, swept his gaze across the entire mountain, and beneath the towering peaks, he found a bridge.

The bridge was magnificent and grand, with a bluestone surface and five steps. The west side of the bridge was for women, the east for men, left yin and right yang. It emitted a chilling yin aura and spanned a river.

Lady Gremory stood on the bridge.

Wang Bo walked over and stepped onto the Bridge of Helplessness. A strange force emerged, seeming to separate Wang Bo's body and soul. The bridge seemed to allow only souls to walk; any physical body that stepped onto it would be repelled.

Wang Bo channeled his magic power, set up a barrier to protect his soul, and then walked onto this magical bridge.

"How does it feel?" Lady Gremory turned around, smiling.

Wang Bo didn't answer directly but instead said, "I destroyed the Terrace of Homesickness, and you found the Bridge of Helplessness. If I'm not mistaken, the Road to Yellow Springs and the River of Forgetfulness should also have projections in the human world. I just don't know where they are."

He had a feeling that once he destroyed the projections of the River of Forgetfulness and the Road to Yellow Springs, the Underworld would find it difficult to devour this human world, and his task would be complete.

Lady Gremory said, "Then let's get to work."

Wang Bo nodded, pulled out the Divine Spear Gungnir, activated its power, and thrust it forcefully through the Bridge of Helplessness. The bridge let out a strained groan, and cracks spread in all directions.

In an instant, the bridge was covered with cracks like a spiderweb.

Wang Bo pulled out the divine spear, and the Bridge of Helplessness began to collapse. Amid a rumbling sound, it turned into a pile of fragments, which vanished without a trace before even falling into the river.

After destroying the Bridge of Helplessness, Wang Bo recounted the problem he had encountered to Lady Gremory and asked if she had any solution.

Lady Gremory said, "If you don't want to kill them, then let me take them away and settle them in Hell."
