Chapter 003: The Bar Owner

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第003章 酒吧老板

After the group returned to Port Royal from the sea, covered in dust and disgrace, Elizabeth's father, Governor Swann, hurried over. When he saw the ragtag bunch of defeated soldiers, his vision darkened.

When he stopped a few men and learned from the soldiers that James Norrington had been eaten by a sea monster, he couldn't bear the blow. He closed his eyes and fainted on the spot.

James Norrington was not only the son-in-law he favored but also the anchor of Port Royal.

He might be a governor, but naval warfare depended on James Norrington. Now that this naval officer had been eaten by a sea monster, who would protect Port Royal?

Him?

Governor Swann was self-aware. With his military acumen, if he forced himself into battle, it would be no different from throwing away lives. If the soldiers followed his orders, they would likely be completely annihilated.

So the defense of Port Royal had always relied on James Norrington. Even now, the dried corpses of pirates hung in the bay outside Port Royal.

He had repeatedly defeated pirates attacking Port Royal, protecting the safety of the port and its surrounding waters. It was precisely because of his outstanding military skill and command ability that he had risen from the ranks, received commendations from above, and was about to be promoted to commodore.

But now, everything was lost.

James Norrington was dead, the soldiers had suffered heavy losses, and Port Royal was now like a defenseless beauty. Once word got out, it would surely be attacked by pirates.

When that happened, the entire Port Royal would be plunged into misery.

That was why Governor Swann, upon hearing of James Norrington's death, was so overcome with anxiety that he fainted.

On the other hand, Wang Bo, mingling in the crowd, appeared particularly relaxed, because so far nothing major had happened in this world.

As long as the fusion of the two worlds went smoothly, he would coast through until the end.

So Wang Bo had entered vacation mode, strolling leisurely through Port Royal on his own.

But because of the news of the navy's defeat, a thick layer of unease had settled over all of Port Royal. No one knew what would happen next.

Wang Bo entered a bar. The bar's decor was extremely simple—just a counter filled with bottles and a few empty chairs. The entire bar was empty except for a bored owner.

Hearing footsteps, the owner looked up and glanced at Wang Bo, somewhat surprised. After all, a man with black hair and yellow skin was very rare in this era.

"Welcome," the owner said, but even so, he forced himself to muster some energy and squeezed out a warm smile.

Wang Bo said, "Nice place. I'll take it."

The bar owner: ???

Seeing his bewildered expression, Wang Bo casually tossed a fist-sized ruby onto the table. "From now on, the bar is mine. Any problem?"

The owner looked at the glittering ruby on the table and immediately shook his head. "No problem at all."

This thing was clearly valuable. With it, he could buy an entire estate and live like a plantation owner. Who the hell would want to be a bar owner anymore?

And so Wang Bo smoothly acquired a bar in Port Royal, becoming a bar owner and starting a new vacation mode.

Even though it was a vacation and he could do nothing, to avoid getting too bored, Wang Bo still planned to find something to do.

For instance, being a bar owner wasn't bad—it was a spur-of-the-moment choice for Wang Bo.

Maybe once he got tired of it, he would switch to a new job.

By evening, the bar gradually filled with people.

Most customers were very surprised to see Wang Bo, a man with black hair and yellow skin, especially when they learned he was the new bar owner. They found it utterly unbelievable.

After all, yellow-skinned people were truly rare here.

But after the initial surprise, most people just ate and drank as usual, living in the moment. The weight of life already pressed down on them, leaving few with the leisure to wonder why a bar had changed hands to a yellow-skinned owner.

But 'few' didn't mean 'none.'

There were always those who, after a few too many drinks, forgot their place and picked a fight with Wang Bo for no reason.

A few dockworkers, after several rounds of drinks, were clearly drunk. They staggered up to Wang Bo, reeking of alcohol, and demanded he put their drinks on credit.

"Sorry, small business, no credit," Wang Bo refused flatly.

If they had been more sincere, Wang Bo might have allowed it. He was just passing time, running the bar to kill boredom, not to make money.

But these guys had a condescending attitude, clearly looking for trouble.

Sure enough, after Wang Bo's refusal, a burly man grabbed for his collar. Wang Bo leaned back slightly, and the man grabbed nothing.

"Are you looking down on me?" the drunk growled angrily.

The bar patrons all looked over, smirking with schadenfreude. No one stopped the drunk.

A few even whistled, as if hoping the situation would escalate.

Facing such customers, Wang Bo's reply was simple: "That's right, I am looking down on you."

The bar erupted in laughter.

Enraged, the drunk tried to climb over the counter to grab Wang Bo, but before he could get close, Wang Bo punched him, sending him flying.

He sailed over everyone's heads, through the bar's door, and landed with a thud on the street outside.

In an instant, the bar fell dead silent.

From the counter to the street outside was at least seven or eight meters. No one expected the seemingly frail bar owner to have such strength.

It was simply unbelievable.

Wang Bo straightened his clothes and swept his gaze across the bar. "I don't welcome fools here. Understood?"

Everyone nodded.

But just then, the bar door suddenly swung open, and a group of men of varying heights walked in from outside.

These men exuded an intangible aura of menace, each one fierce and vicious. From their expressions to their clothing, they had very distinctive features—it was as if they had the words 'I am a pirate' written on their faces.

Of course, even if they didn't have it written on their faces, anyone who wasn't an idiot could tell who they were.

They were genuine pirates.

For a moment, the bar patrons fell silent in fear. Many trembled, and a few were so scared they plopped down onto the floor.

Just from that, one could see how powerful the presence of these men was.
