Chapter 052: The Bet

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第052章 对赌

Wang Bo explained his situation to Athena, and only then did she understand why he was so anxious.

After thinking it over briefly, she agreed to Wang Bo, "Alright, since you're in such a hurry, let's settle this quickly and get it done as soon as possible."

Wang Bo smiled and said, "That's exactly what I want."

Athena took her leave from Wang Bo and turned to handle the matter.

Wang Bo waited for her news at the restaurant in Royal Port.

A few days later, a beam of light flew from the horizon, swept over Royal Port, and dove into the restaurant Wang Bo had opened.

The light transformed into Athena's projection, standing before Wang Bo. "I'll wait for you at Fish-Man Island."

After receiving this message, Wang Bo closed the restaurant and set off toward the Calm Belt.

Originally, Fish-Man Island was beneath Royal Port, but later Athena moved it to the sea surface, and after she subdued the Amazon Lily Kingdom, she relocated Fish-Man Island to the Calm Belt, not far from Amazon Lily.

Wang Bo sped along like lightning, and in an instant entered the Calm Belt, arriving near Fish-Man Island.

Near Fish-Man Island was a small island, where Athena and Poseidon were confronting each other.

Wang Bo followed Athena's aura, flew over, and landed beside her.

When Poseidon saw Wang Bo, his eyes turned red. The reason he had lost Fish-Man Island to Athena in the first place was because of Wang Bo; if Wang Bo hadn't interfered and helped Athena, he would never have lost.

Thus, Poseidon's hatred for Wang Bo surpassed even that for Athena.

Seeing Wang Bo today, his killing intent erupted like a mountain flood.

Athena stepped forward, blocking Poseidon's killing intent.

Poseidon quickly withdrew his gaze, suppressed his murderous intent, and said to Athena, "My dear niece, is this the new lover you've found?"

Athena snorted coldly, "That's none of your business."

Poseidon said, "My dear niece, you should know that humans are fickle and unreliable. As your uncle, I must say your taste is truly terrible."

Athena ignored his remark and said slowly, "I'm tired of dragging this out over Fish-Man Island. Let's make a final settlement this time."

Poseidon smiled and asked, "What do you propose?"

"This time, we'll settle it in one go. If you win, I'll return Fish-Man Island to you. If you lose, you must never mention Fish-Man Island again, swearing by the Titan gods."

Poseidon's expression turned serious. He knew Athena was serious this time. They were both Titan gods; if they broke their oath, they would become a laughingstock among the gods.

Even Poseidon didn't want to be mocked by the gods, which would make him unable to hold his head high before them.

"I accept, my niece. But if you lose, I want not only Fish-Man Island but also this man's life." He pointed at Wang Bo with murderous intent.

Athena shook her head decisively. "Impossible. I have no right to agree to anything on his behalf."

Poseidon looked at Athena suspiciously. "You're not actually in love with a human, are you, Athena?"

Athena said, "If you lose, I want Hades' Underworld. Can you agree to that on his behalf? Are you qualified to agree to that on his behalf?"

Poseidon said, "That's a different matter. He's just a human."

"But you might not be able to defeat him."

Poseidon glanced at Wang Bo with uncertainty. He now realized Wang Bo might not be what he had imagined; this human seemed not to be Athena's lackey but her companion.

A god actually becoming companions with a human—how ridiculous.

Even demigods must maintain respect when facing gods.

Unless this human was truly as powerful as Athena said, strong enough to contend with gods.

The reason he had lost to Athena last time was mainly because Wang Bo had produced his trident. So in Poseidon's view, Wang Bo's strength was far inferior to that of a god.

It was only because he wielded the trident that he suppressed Poseidon's power, giving Athena an opening.

But now it seemed he had been mistaken.

What Athena said might be true: even without the trident, this human had the power to contend with gods.

If that were the case, Athena indeed had no right to agree to his earlier condition. But the question was, could a human truly rival the gods?

At least in Poseidon's past, he had never seen such a human.

"Fine, I withdraw my earlier condition. But I have a new one: if I win, this human must hand over the trident he possesses."

Poseidon didn't know where Wang Bo's trident came from, but there was no doubt it was his own weapon.

He absolutely would not allow a human to wield it.

Athena glanced at Wang Bo, who nodded and said, "That's acceptable, but you must offer a corresponding stake, Lord Poseidon."

Poseidon sneered, "You are an arrogant human, but I can satisfy you. I will stake the Heart of the Ocean against it."

Wang Bo turned to look at Athena. In his knowledge, the Heart of the Ocean was a beautiful gem from Titanic.

But clearly, the Heart of the Ocean Poseidon spoke of was not that gem.

Athena replied in a low voice, "The Heart of the Ocean is one of Poseidon's treasures. Possessing it allows one to command the seas, create tsunamis, and even summon floods to submerge an entire continent. It is a divine object second only to the trident."

Hearing this, Wang Bo nodded with satisfaction. "Agreed, Lord Poseidon."

Poseidon sneered, "Then get your trident ready."

But in his heart, he was determined: he would stall Athena, and then let his brother Hades tear this detestable human to pieces.

He believed that with his brother Hades' strength, this would not be difficult.

A despicable human daring to covet his treasure—utterly overreaching and deserving of death.

He would make this human pay with his life.

Athena said, "Now, state your terms, my dear uncle. How do you want to settle this? Through combat?"

As the goddess of wisdom and war, she would never fear any battle.

Poseidon nodded. He knew Athena had developed well recently and her strength had increased. His previous attempts to reclaim Fish-Man Island had all failed, but Poseidon was not afraid of Athena.

He felt his own strength was superior to Athena's, and moreover, he had brought his brother today.
