Chapter 007: Pirate City
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第007章 海盗市
Wang Bo couldn't help but roll his eyes.
You tell Luke his father was an excellent pilot, then hand him a lightsaber, saying it was his father's relic and a Jedi weapon.
That's quite contradictory.
Are you afraid Luke won't realize you're lying?
A lightsaber, though not high-tech, is something only Jedi would use; no ordinary person plays with one.
Let alone a pilot.
On the battlefield, you fly a starship or a fighter; even if shot down, you'd carry a blaster, which is more suitable for an ordinary soldier.
Do you think a pilot would go into battle with a lightsaber?
Wang Bo certainly couldn't believe it; without the Force, an ordinary soldier wielding a lightsaber in battle is asking for death—no matter how sharp, it has its limitations.
Someone with a blaster could rattle off a few shots and kill the soldier with the lightsaber.
Unless they're a Jedi.
Only those freaks enhanced by the Force can use a lightsaber to block blaster fire and unleash powerful combat abilities.
But no matter how you look at it, it's easy to learn but hard to master, not suitable for a pilot.
Wang Bo looked at Luke, wanting to see his expression, but found Luke staring at the lightsaber with a complex look, not doubting Obi-Wan's words at all.
Damn, your father's setting is a pilot.
Don't you wonder why a pilot would have a lightsaber only used by Jedi?
Wang Bo complained inwardly several times, and when he saw that Luke indeed didn't doubt Obi-Wan, he let out a long sigh. Young people are just so easy to fool.
They believe whatever they're told.
What else could Wang Bo do?
Just then, R2-D2 made a beeping sound, interrupting their conversation. Obi-Wan glanced at the droid and walked over.
"Let's see what's wrong with you."
He didn't understand why a droid would seek him out.
So he went over and activated R2-D2's projector, and the droid immediately displayed a holographic image.
The image was of a young, beautiful woman.
The beautiful woman, dressed in white, stood before R2-D2 and said anxiously, "General Kenobi, years ago, during the Clone Wars, you served my father. Now he begs your help against the Empire."
"I'm sorry I can't present my father's request in person. My ship is under attack, and my plan to take you to Alderaan may fail. I have information vital to the survival of the Rebellion, stored in this R2 unit's memory. My father will know how to retrieve it."
"You must deliver this droid to Alderaan personally. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."
The recording ended there, but Wang Bo suddenly realized he had seen the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One.
The background of this story is the fall of the Galactic Republic and the collapse of the Jedi Order. After Palpatine reorganized the Republic into the Galactic Empire under the so-called New Order, the Empire's oppressive rule sparked uprisings and various rebel groups.
To suppress these rebel groups, the Empire built a massive battle station... the Death Star!
Rogue One tells the story of a group of heroes rallying under the Rebel Alliance to steal the secret plans for the superweapon, the Death Star.
Wang Bo remembered that at the end of Rogue One, this woman in white appeared.
Clearly, the information vital to the Rebellion's survival was the Death Star plans.
That's impressive.
So the plot of Rogue One directly precedes the original Star Wars trilogy.
Wang Bo suddenly understood.
Wang Bo looked at Obi-Wan and saw his complex expression; he clearly recognized the woman. After a moment of thought, Obi-Wan's gaze swept over Wang Bo and then settled on Luke.
"You must learn the Force if you're to come with me to Alderaan."
Luke was stunned. "Alderaan?" He shook his head. "I'm not going to Alderaan. I'm going home."
Wang Bo nodded inwardly; this was undoubtedly a young man's most honest reaction.
The Empire, the Rebellion, the secrets—none of it had anything to do with him.
But Obi-Wan refused to give up, trying hard to persuade Luke to go with him to Alderaan.
Wang Bo spoke up, "Maybe we shouldn't pressure a young man, Master Obi-Wan."
Luke nodded. "That's right. I'm just an ordinary person. This is all I can do. I'm sorry, but I want to go home."
Obi-Wan glanced at Wang Bo and finally agreed.
"Alright, maybe I shouldn't push you. I'll take you home."
"No, I can go back on my own." Luke refused Obi-Wan's offer to escort him and left Obi-Wan's home alone.
Obi-Wan fell silent, or rather, lost in memory.
After a while, he came to and said to Wang Bo, "We should get going."
Now that Luke was gone, his only helper was Wang Bo. Fortunately, Wang Bo's swordsmanship and Force abilities were no worse than those of a full-fledged Jedi.
He believed Wang Bo would be a good ally.
Wang Bo didn't refuse.
So the two of them, along with the R2 unit, decided to leave the planet.
As for the other droid, it had already left with Luke, apparently recognizing him as its master.
They packed their belongings quickly.
Wang Bo asked, "Where should we go now?"
Obi-Wan replied, "Mos Eisley!"
Wang Bo had never heard of the place, so he asked about it.
Obi-Wan said, "It's not a good place. It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy."
"A pirate city?" This made Wang Bo even more curious.
"Yes, Mos Eisley is the largest spaceport on Tatooine, a busy and dangerous port. It's filled with adventurers and thugs from all over the galaxy, in all sorts of strange forms, and it's quite dangerous."
Wang Bo let out an "Oh."
Obi-Wan also told Wang Bo that in the early days of Tatooine's modern colonization, a starship called the Queen's Royal crashed in the desert plains, and the crash site gradually developed into a community, eventually becoming the Mos Eisley of today.
