Chapter 011: Doubts
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第011章 疑问
Wang Bo shook his head and said, "I have never been to Hamunaptra. Many people have been to Hamunaptra, but few have returned alive. As far as I know, apart from the descendants of the Egyptian pharaoh's guards, there are only two people."
"Is one of them me?" O'Connor ventured.
"That's right." Wang Bo nodded.
"Who is the other person—your ancestor?" O'Connor, seeing Wang Bo's familiarity with Hamunaptra, guessed as much; only this would make sense.
"No, it's your friend." Wang Bo flatly denied O'Connor's guess.
"My friend?" O'Connor was completely baffled, racking his brains to recall who exactly his friend was.
But after thinking for a long time, he still couldn't recall having any friend who had ever been to Hamunaptra.
Wang Bo reminded, "Benny."
O'Connor suddenly realized, "It's him, he's still alive?!"
O'Connell naturally wouldn't forget this fellow. Back when they were fighting enemies in Hamunaptra, Beni had directly betrayed him. If O'Connell hadn't been incredibly lucky, he would have died right then and there.
At first, he hadn't thought of him because O'Connor had subconsciously assumed the guy was already dead.
Back then, when I fled the desert, if it hadn't been for my good luck, I would have died as well.
So he had always thought that Benny might not have such good luck, never expecting that the guy was still alive. For a moment, O'Connell's smile became twisted.
Evelyn couldn't help asking, "Who is Benny?"
"O'Connor's former subordinate," Wang Bo said.
O'Connor nodded. "That's right, he really is my man. But I never expected that bastard was still alive. Heaven has opened its eyes—I finally have my chance for revenge."
"So, he offended you?" Jonathan said dismissively. "It's been such a long time, and you still remember. You really are a vengeful person."
"If it weren't for my good luck, I might already be dead." O'Connor's expression was somewhat terrifying.
Jonathan shut his mouth awkwardly; this was a life-and-death enmity, and he dared not say more.
Evelyn said, "Who exactly are you, and how do you know to do such a thing?"
"I am Superman," Wang Bo said.
"Superman, what's that?" Evelyn asked, genuinely unsure what this Superman thing was.
After all, DC Company was fortunate to have been established only in 1934.
In June 1938, the company created the world's first superhero—Superman—in the inaugural issue of Action Comics, thereby rewriting the history of American comics.
And now, it is 1926.
The DC Company didn't even have a shadow, let alone whether it would be established in this world—that was still uncertain.
Only Laura cast a silent glance at Wang Bo; in fact, there were also Superman comics in her world, but she wasn't quite sure if the Superman Wang Bo mentioned was the same one she knew.
Wang Bo said, "Superman is a kind of superhuman with great power, nothing more."
Because this world had no Superman comics, Wang Bo couldn't be bothered to explain Superman's powers and his own awesomeness to the other party, let alone that this kind of awesomeness was not what he wanted.
If he had the ability of the Flash, Wang Bo might be overjoyed.
At least the Flash doesn't have to worry about living in a world made of paper.
As for Wang Bo's explanation, O'Connor chuckled and didn't take it to heart. Even if he was a bit stronger, could he really stop a bullet?
Even if it can stop bullets, can it stop cannonballs?
In his eyes, even a superhuman beyond humanity could not survive amidst the hail of gunfire.
The power of a missile is truly not something that mere flesh and blood can withstand.
Of course, this way of thinking cannot be said to be wrong; at least in human history, no one has truly been able to block bullets and shells with their flesh and blood.
This is the experience and reality accumulated over countless years on the battlefield.
So Wang Bo couldn't be bothered to explain to them in detail, and instead asked, "Is there anything else you want to know?"
Jonathan asked, "I want to confirm, is there really that much gold in Hamunaptra?"
"Yes, there are many."
"Then I have no more questions." Jonathan said cheerfully; as long as there was gold in Hamunaptra, he didn't really care about anything else.
Wang Bo turned his head to look at Evelyn. "And what about you, Your Highness the Princess?"
Evelyn shot Wang Bo a glare, apparently irritated by the term "Her Highness the Princess," and asked, "Tell me, where is the Book of the Dead?"
"The Book of the Dead lies at the feet of Anubis, the god of death."
"You're sure."
"Of course I'm sure."
"But I remember, what should be under Anubis's feet is the Golden Book of the Sun," Evelyn said, looking at Wang Bo with a strange expression. She hadn't forgotten that all Egyptian archaeologists unanimously believed that what lay under Anubis's feet was the Golden Book of the Sun.
Wang Bo said, "This is a wonderful misunderstanding, Your Highness. You should trust me."
Evelyn retorted, "Do you think you are more authoritative than all the archaeologists of the past?"
"In this regard, I am indeed an authority. After all, none of the archaeologists you mentioned have ever reached Hamunaptra."
"You've never arrived either, have you?" Evelyn retorted.
"But I just know." Wang Bo said while absorbing sunlight, "When we reach Hamunaptra, you'll know whether what I said is true or false."
Evelyn gave Wang Bo a deep look. "Then let's just wait and see."
"Then do you have any other questions, Your Highness the Princess."
"When I think of something, I'll ask you."
"Okay."
Wang Bo turned his head, shifting his gaze to O'Connor. "Now, do you have any other questions?"
O'Connor thought for a moment and asked, "I want to know where Benny is?"
Wang Bo reached out and pointed at the ground.
O'Connor didn't understand. "What do you mean?"
"The Benny you're looking for is right on this ship."
"What?"
O'Connell's face changed; he immediately realized that they had taken this ship to go to Hamunaptra, yet Beni appeared here—it couldn't be to find him.
Because after he had tricked him back then, he absolutely did not want to see him.
Yet he was on this very ship, so his purpose was self-evident.
"Hamunaptra, he's going to Hamunaptra too."
"Yes, on this ship, we are not the only ones heading to Hamunaptra. Did you see those Americans in the dining room just now? Their destination is the same as ours, and their guide is..."
"Benny!" O'Connell unhesitatingly drew the pistol from his waist, a grim smile spreading across his face. Though he wouldn't actually kill Benny, he intended to teach him a lesson.
“It’s hide-and-seek time now. Wait for me, Benny.”
