Chapter 025: Friends

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第025章 朋友

Although Yazi was hostile toward Tang Xin, she did not make things too difficult for her.

But this meal, Ya Zi ate without any taste at all. Although the food was as delicious as ever, for some reason, she felt very displeased.

In contrast, Tang Xin ate with great relish, constantly praising Wang Bo's cooking skills.

Wang Bo wore a modest smile.

After all, this meal really wasn't cooked by him; all Wang Bo did was take out the ingredients from the fridge and heat them up, and the ingredients in the fridge were obtained from the gourmet tablecloth.

Throughout the whole process, Wang Bo was only responsible for heating.

This was not culinary skill at all, so he could hardly be proud.

"So, you're planning to marry Miss Tang Xin?" During the meal, Yazi saw Tang Xin constantly putting food on Wang Bo's plate, like a virtuous hostess, and felt increasingly bitter.

She came to eat, not to eat dog food.

Driven by an inexplicable emotion, Yazi couldn't help but ask.

Tang Xin couldn't help but fix her gaze on Wang Bo, wanting to see how he would answer.

Chunli silently ate the delicious food, but Wang Bo felt that she seemed to be secretly observing him, her gaze carrying very complex emotions, which made Wang Bo quite concerned.

"Getting married is fine." Wang Bo thought for a moment, then turned his head and said, "But there's one thing I want to say upfront."

Tang Xin nodded, looking as if she were all ears.

Wang Bo said, "I can marry you, but I can't marry only you. Do you understand what I mean?"

Tang Xin was taken aback.

Yazi was the first to react, "You want to commit bigamy?"

"No, no, no, I recall there are countries abroad where you can marry several wives, right?"

Yazi grew even more indignant. "You want to have a foot in both camps?"

"Maybe more than two," Wang Bo said.

Tang Xin finally snapped. She set her bowl and chopsticks down on the table with a sharp clatter. "That's too much!"

"I know." Wang Bo nodded and said, "But this is my stance. I cannot spend my whole life with just one woman. That's how I feel."

“You…” Tang Xin was so angry she wanted to turn hostile, glaring at Wang Bo with fury. As a woman of the new century, probably no woman would want to share her husband with other women.

Wang Bo said to Tang Xin with a sincere expression, "I know you're upset, but this is my attitude toward life, and I can't change it for you. If you think I'm a scumbag, you can slap me twice and then turn around and leave. I won't blame you, because I already had that awareness when I made my decision."

Tang Xin raised her hand without hesitation and slapped Wang Bo across the face.

Wang Bo quickly raised his hand and grabbed Tang Xin's arm. "I just remembered something, and I think it's better if you don't hit me."

“You bastard, I never want to see you again.” Tang Xin cursed Wang Bo thoroughly, then turned and left.

Wang Bo did not stop her. This was Tang Xin's choice; what could he do?

After all, he was not the kind of domineering CEO who would say, 'You belong to me in life and in death.' When it comes to matters of the heart, if it's not mutual, even being together won't bring happiness.

Watching this, Yazi's mood suddenly lifted for some reason. She poked Wang Bo with her chopsticks. "Hey, isn't this a bit too scummy of you?"

"Probably." Wang Bo did not deny it, after all, this was a modern society, not an ancient one.

"You're quite honest." Yazi asked, "Was what you just said true or false?"

"Of course it's true."

"So, when we first met, you were fawning over me and Chunli, weren't you planning to play both sides?"

Wang Bo did not deny it, but instead nodded readily. "When I first saw you both, I was indeed dazzled by you and wanted to pursue you, to spend my life with you."

Chunli looked up at Wang Bo, her eyes full of contempt. "Scumbag."

Yazi nodded in profound agreement; in her view, Wang Bo's behavior was indeed somewhat despicable. Still, she rather admired his courage. "You really have some nerve, pursuing both of us at the same time. Aren't you afraid of ending up with nothing?"

Wang Bo shook his head and said, "Why should I be afraid? I'm pursuing both of you. If you agree, we can be husband and wife; if you don't, we can still be friends. I won't make things difficult for you or force you, so why should I be afraid?"

Yazi was taken aback and couldn't help saying, "Aren't you afraid that we won't even be able to be friends?"

"Then it means we are destined to be together but not fated to be."

Wang Bo was very philosophical about this: 'Whether it's a spouse or a friend, it's all about mutual willingness. If you're not willing, there's nothing I can do. After all, I'm not only rich and capable in a fight, but also not bad-looking with a good physique—why would I worry about not making friends or finding a few wives?'

Yazi couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat.

Chunli looked at Wang Bo in surprise. She hadn't expected that a scumbag like Wang Bo could actually say something so reasonable.

She always felt that she seemed to have underestimated Wang Bo.

This man seemed to see things from a very unexpected angle.

"Alright, enough of that. Let's eat. After we eat, I'll teach Chunli the Ripple Breathing Technique—that's what you came for today, isn't it?" Wang Bo picked up his chopsticks and bowl. Having talked so much, he was feeling a bit hungry.

Yazi couldn't help but ask again, 'Miss Tangxin—you just gave up like that?'

"There's no choice but to give up. She can't accept me marrying several wives; she's unwilling to share a man with other women. What else can I do?"

Wang Bo sighed; he was helpless too.

"Then can't you give up other women for Tang Xin and be a devoted, faithful man?"

"Sorry, I can't do that." If he had not set out on his journey, Wang Bo might have stayed with one woman for his whole life, but after he embarked on that journey, he could no longer do so.

To put it bluntly, his heart had grown wild and could not be reined in.

Or rather, Wang Bo had never intended to take it back.

“Scum.”

"Thanks for the compliment."

Yazi rolled her eyes. She was definitely not complimenting Wang Bo, but she had finally seen through him. As a friend, he was fine—generous and straightforward.

But as husband and wife, it wouldn't work — he's too fickle.

What Yazi longed for was a love of single-minded devotion and monogamy, not this kind of life with multiple wives.

"Let me make this clear from the start: my view of love is single-minded, one man, one wife. So from now on, you can't have any designs on me."

"Fine, no problem, then we'll just be friends." Wang Bo agreed extremely readily.
