Chapter 001: Thompson

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第001章 汤普森

Another crossing, still not much different from the previous few times.

When Wang Bo woke up, he found that he had become another person. If this feeling had been somewhat novel at first, now Wang Bo had grown accustomed to it.

He smoothly accepted the residual information in his mind.

This time, Wang Bo had once again traveled to a modern world, only the stage had been moved to New York.

And the person he replaced was named Eugene Thompson.

To be honest, the name sounded familiar, but Wang Bo couldn't recall it for a moment. However, after he fully absorbed the information left by Thompson, it finally dawned on him.

Because this Thompson was a middle school student—or more precisely, a high school student—and he attended Midtown High School.

Wang Bo was not actually familiar with New York's high schools.

Because he was more familiar with New York's universities, such as Harvard University, New York University, Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and so on.

After all, foreigners generally focus on famous universities; only locals pay attention to high schools.

However, Midtown High School is indeed an exception.

Because this school does not exist in the real world, this high school only exists in the Marvel universe—it is the legendary... Spider-Man High School.

In many parallel worlds of Marvel, Spider-Man Peter Parker graduated from this high school.

So when Wang Bo realized that the Flash Thompson he had replaced was attending Midtown High School, he knew what world he was in.

The Marvel world, or rather the Spider-Man world.

So Wang Bo dug deeper into the residual information in his mind and finally confirmed that this world was not the Marvel superhero universe, but merely the Spider-Man universe.

Because Wang Bo discovered that in this world, although there was the Osborn Group, there was no Stark Group.

In other words, this world is an independent Spider-Man universe.

Only Spider-Man and Spider-Man's enemies.

There will be no Iron Man, nor Captain America, and certainly no Hulk.

This discovery made Wang Bo breathe a sigh of relief. Fortunately, this was a Spider-Man universe; if it were the Marvel superhero universe, he would probably have to keep a low profile.

After all, although his current strength was decent, it was far too lacking compared to those super freaks.

Not to mention Thanos, Odin, and the Ancient One—those freaks—even the Hulk, Thor, and other powerful heroes, Wang Bo might not be able to defeat.

Not to mention super heroes like Captain Marvel who can go toe-to-toe with Thanos.

Although the Spider-Verse is also very dangerous, it pales in comparison to the Marvel superhero universe.

With Wang Bo's current strength, he could easily crush Spider-Man, not to mention villains like the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Venom—he could thrash them in no time.

At the same time, Wang Bo also clarified his identity.

Flash Thompson, the member of the football team who had always been bullying Spider-Man in high school.

Even more interestingly, Wang Bo found that in taking the place of this Thompson, he also discovered memories of Peter Parker within Thompson's recollections.

In his memory, this Thompson often bullied Peter Parker and gave him the nickname "Puny Parker." And the Peter Parker in his memory also seemed to be someone who meekly accepted his fate.

Clearly, this Peter Parker did not seem to have transformed into the real Spider-Man.

Wang Bo searched his memory and was astonished to discover that in this world, Peter Parker's girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson, was actually his own girlfriend.

This is really... interesting.

Based on the above information, Wang Bo easily determined which Spider-Man world he was in.

In the Marvel multiverse, the Spider-Verse can be described as rich and colorful; there are simply too many parallel worlds related to Spider-Man.

Just from what Wang Bo knew, there was the comic version of The Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, Superior Spider-Man, and so on. Besides these, there were worlds where Peter Parker never became Spider-Man, worlds where Gwen became Spider-Man, worlds where Spider-Man was a pig, and so forth.

As for the film versions, there are worlds like the Spider-Man trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, among others.

The last of these is the Spider-Man of the Marvel superhero universe.

The remaining two are parallel worlds of the Spider-Verse.

Wang Bo is currently in the world of the Spider-Man trilogy within the Spider-Verse.

Wang Bo remembered the plot of this world very clearly.

In this world, Midtown High School once organized an event where Peter and his classmates went to see a scientific exhibition about spiders. While taking photos, Peter didn't notice a genetically mutated spider suddenly dropping from the tent's chandelier along its silk. In its panic, it bit Peter's hand, which immediately swelled up.

After returning home, following a night of high fever, Peter suddenly discovered that he had been miraculously endowed with a spider's sixth sense for perceiving impending danger, as well as many extraordinary abilities: he had become a "Spider-Man" with superhuman strength, agility, the ability to scale walls, and to shoot web-like slime.

In the memories Wang Bo received, it seemed that the school had not yet organized this activity.

In other words, Peter Parker still hadn't become Spider-Man up to now; he remained an unremarkable loser at Midtown High School.

But Wang Bo believed that gold will shine sooner or later.

The day Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man will not be far off.

“Thompson, Thompson...”

While Wang Bo was tossing and turning, recalling the plot of this world, he heard someone calling the name Thompson, but Wang Bo didn't pay attention—after all, it wasn't him being called.

It was only when someone took a pointer and rapped it hard several times on his desk that Wang Bo snapped back to attention.

That's right, I'm Thompson.

I have now arrived in the world of Spider-Man, taking the place of Thompson.

So this person is calling me.

Wang Bo suddenly looked up and saw an old man with glasses standing in front of him, glaring furiously. From Thompson's memories, Wang Bo also found this person's name and identity.

"Teacher Haji."

This person was not only Wang Bo's homeroom teacher but also the physics teacher.

And now, he was attending a class in a classroom at Midtown High School.

"You were spacing out just now, weren't you, Thompson." Mr. Haji asked, his eyes narrowing with hostility.

Wang Bo nodded and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Haji."

"I accept your apology." Haji said with a dismissive look. "Since you can let your mind wander in my class, it means you have already understood what I taught. I am very pleased about that, Thompson."

He pointed his pointer at the problem on the blackboard. "Answer this question, and you can sit down and continue daydreaming."
