Chapter 019: The Chatterbox
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第019章 话痨
Wang Bo's face was cold. He no longer wanted to lie to this guy; the guy was utterly worthless.
Since allies were unreliable, he could only rely on himself.
Fortunately, Wang Bo still had a trump card.
He pulled out his magic lamp, rubbed it, and summoned the genie. "I've run into trouble. There's a very powerful enemy, far beyond imagination. I wonder if you can help me tie down this enemy."
The genie said, "Great master, I must see this enemy before I can decide."
Its power was unimaginable, but it wasn't invincible.
Wang Bo thought that made sense—the genie hadn't even seen the enemy, so how could it guarantee anything? So he waved his hand, sending the genie back into the lamp.
He had already decided: if even the genie couldn't beat that guy, he would use the Replication Mirror to create a bunch of genies and hand them over to people of justice.
Then, with a genie in everyone's hands, he was sure they could defeat the White Witch.
But before that, Wang Bo first needed to ask how Spider-Man had provoked the White Witch, and also recruit Spider-Man into his camp.
"Friday, prepare a mechanical soldier that can withstand low temperatures."
"No problem, sir."
Friday agreed without a second thought. After losing Cybertron, the Transformers had wandered through space, still using their original bodies.
What did that imply?
Well, the temperature of space is absolute zero.
So having a Transformer build a low-temperature-resistant mechanical soldier was no big deal.
The next morning, when Wang Bo woke up, Friday had already prepared the mechanical soldier he needed. Wang Bo put on his helmet and transferred his consciousness into the soldier.
He was cautious now; until he was absolutely sure he could defeat the White Witch, he wouldn't act with his real body.
This time, the starting point was still an American-style room.
After covering the mechanical soldier with a layer of synthetic skin, Wang Bo left the room and headed toward Midtown High. Along the way, he connected to the network and checked the latest news.
Last night, the fight between him, Spider-Man, and the White Witch under the bridge had made the news.
Many media outlets were reporting on it.
The frozen wasteland created by the White Witch, freezing everything within a hundred meters, was still there, but it had been sealed off by the police. No one could enter without authorization.
Not even reporters.
Clearly, last night's battle had been noticed by the government.
Additionally, a group of injured homeless people had been taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, the hospital was also cordoned off, even guarded by the military. No one could cross the line.
This led to all sorts of wild speculation.
Some unscrupulous media, ignorant of the facts, fabricated outlandish stories to grab attention and boost sales. Some even claimed it was a divine disaster.
Wang Bo laughed, but after laughing, he thought of something.
The mechanical soldier he had used yesterday had been shattered into pieces.
He didn't know who had taken those pieces. The White Witch probably wouldn't have taken them—they were useless to her—but the U.S. government would likely be very interested.
He wondered what those scientists could make from the fragments.
Just as Wang Bo was lost in thought, he arrived at Midtown High.
Pretending to be a student, he entered the school and found Peter Parker. Peter looked exhausted, slumped over his desk, yawning listlessly.
Clearly, he hadn't slept well last night.
No wonder—facing a woman like the White Witch, no one could sleep soundly.
In fact, even Wang Bo had woken up several times last night.
Wang Bo walked into the classroom and tapped Peter Parker on the shoulder. Peter looked up, confused to see Wang Bo—he didn't know this man at all.
"Come with me, Spider-Man." Wang Bo started in a normal voice, but when he said "Spider-Man," he lowered it so only he and Peter could hear.
Peter Parker stared at Wang Bo in shock. He hadn't expected his identity to be exposed by a stranger, which left him uneasy and at a loss.
"Who are you?"
"Come with me, and I'll tell you." Wang Bo said, then walked out of the classroom, certain Peter would follow.
And indeed, Peter did follow, because he wanted to know who this mysterious man was, how he knew his identity, and how many others knew.
The two left the classroom one after another and ran into Mary Jane in the hallway.
She looked at Wang Bo, then at Peter, and said, "Hey, Peter, where are you going? Class is about to start."
Peter Parker forced a smile and said, "I have something to do. Can you ask the teacher for me, Mary Jane?"
"You..."
"Alright, that's it." Seeing Mary Jane about to say more, Peter cut her off and hurried after Wang Bo.
They climbed the stairs to the rooftop.
After closing the door, Peter Parker looked at Wang Bo gravely. "Who the hell are you?"
"Have you forgotten already? Who was it that fought alongside you last night?" Wang Bo said with a half-smile.
Peter Parker stared at him in shock. "It's you! But weren't you..."
"That was just a body." Wang Bo deactivated the synthetic skin disguise, revealing a mechanical soldier, then changed back. "I have many bodies like that."
"My God, you're a robot! That's so cool!" Peter Parker, having seen Wang Bo's attack pattern yesterday, had thought Wang Bo had only modified his hands.
But he never expected Wang Bo to be a robot—even cooler than modified hands.
He circled Wang Bo a few times, occasionally touching his hand and patting his shoulder.
Wang Bo impatiently slapped his hand away. "Don't touch me, you queer."
Peter Parker quickly stepped back, looking aggrieved. "No, no, I'm not queer. How could I be queer? But this body of yours is really cool. Tell me, are you a robot, an AI, or..."
"Cut the crap." Wang Bo scolded, cutting him off. This guy never shut up—no wonder he was one of Marvel's three biggest motormouths.
"Alright, what do you want from me?" Peter Parker asked.
