Chapter 049: The Barrier
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第049章 结界
The night of New York was bustling and brilliant, with myriad lights illuminating the pitch-black sky, radiating splendor.
Among many modern cities, New York's nightscape was undoubtedly world-class.
Definitely among the top ten in the world, even the top three.
Beneath such beautiful lights, humanoid spiders swung between the skyscrapers of New York, crossing block after block amid cheers.
Finally, everyone arrived at the center of Manhattan.
Wang Bo stood atop a tall building, looking down at a luxurious villa below. He pulled a golden oil lamp from his fourth-dimensional pocket and handed it to Gwen.
Gwen took the lamp, glanced at it curiously, rubbed it, and the genie appeared.
“State your wish, my master.”
Everyone stared at the genie in wonder. Miles let out a “wow” and whispered, “So this is the genie. That's so cool. I never thought the legend of Aladdin's lamp was real.”
Gwen pointed at the luxurious villa below and said, “My first wish: without alerting anyone inside the villa, set up a sturdy barrier around it, allowing no one but us to enter or leave.”
The genie said, “This wish is very simple.”
He rubbed his hands together, casting a powerful spell. In the void, layers of diamond-shaped translucent shields appeared, enveloping the entire villa like a bowl turned upside down over it.
Yet the people inside were completely unaware.
Gwen said, “My second wish: set up another sturdy barrier.”
The genie nodded. “I understand, my master.”
A few seconds later, the second barrier was established.
Gwen decisively made the third wish, “Set up a third barrier.”
“Yes, my master.”
The genie rubbed his hands together, and the third barrier appeared, interweaving with the first two barriers, trapping the villa.
The White Witch's power was formidable and terrifying. Without a barrier to contain it, if her power were unleashed, New York City would likely become an ice city.
This was not an exaggeration but a fact.
A White Witch who could freeze the world of Narnia would find it too easy to freeze a city.
Thus, the barrier was necessary.
After preparations were made, Wang Bo locked onto the White Witch's room and teleported, crossing numerous obstacles, appearing before her.
The White Witch, still in her splendid white gown and wearing a crown, sat elegantly in a palace-style dining room, before a wide round table.
The table was laden with all kinds of food: steamed buns, sandwiches, cake, salmon, spaghetti, turkey, steak, and roast meat.
This table gathered most of the dinner dishes from both East and West.
Beside the White Witch, a group of maids were attending to her meal.
These maids kept their heads lowered, trembling as they served the White Witch, afraid that if she were displeased, she would turn them into stone statues, for they had witnessed such things happen before their eyes more than once.
The White Witch sat high above, looking down on everyone.
However, the appearance of Wang Bo took the White Witch by surprise.
She had not expected that in this technologically advanced world, there would be someone else like her who used magic.
Yes, the sorcery Wang Bo used was, in her view, also a part of magic.
This made the White Witch very curious. She stared at Wang Bo in astonishment, eager to know who he was and why he could use magic. But before that, she had to teach him a lesson.
In Narnia, no one dared to interrupt her meal, and the same applied in this world.
The White Witch flicked her finger, and an invisible ripple swept out, turning everything it touched to stone.
Wang Bo had not expected the White Witch to act so swiftly. Caught off guard, half of his body was petrified—everything below his legs turned to stone.
But he immediately channeled his magic, and cracks appeared in the stone on his legs in the blink of an eye. Then it shattered, falling to the ground as a pile of stone chips.
The White Witch glanced at Wang Bo with some surprise and nodded, as if acknowledging him. "You are capable of breaking my spell, so you have the right to speak before me. State your purpose."
Wang Bo said in a vigorous voice, "I have come to send you home, White Witch."
The White Witch raised an eyebrow and looked at Wang Bo in surprise. "So it's you."
Hearing Wang Bo's words, she understood that the magician before her was the little nuisance she had been searching for but had never found.
As she had thought, this little nuisance had finally shown himself.
But what surprised the White Witch was that this little nuisance was not a robot but a magician.
"Your strength is not bad, but you are far inferior to me," the White Witch said dismissively. "You are no match for me, so there's no need to boast. Kneel down now and beg me, swear to become my servant, and I might spare your life, magician."
In response to the White Witch's arrogance, Wang Bo let out a contemptuous laugh.
Although the White Witch did not understand the meaning of the laugh, she sensed that he was mocking her. She shook her head and said, "You are courting death."
With that, terrifying ice spikes appeared above the White Witch's head, their sharp tips pointing at Wang Bo's body. The temperature in the air plummeted, and a thin layer of frost formed on the walls.
The maids around were shivering from the cold, retreating continuously, and some of the timid ones had already started to flee.
The White Witch paid them no mind. After she killed Wang Bo, she would naturally deal with them.
"Since you refuse to submit, then die."
The next second, countless ice spikes rained down from above like a storm, shooting toward Wang Bo.
Wang Bo raised his hand, and surging flames burst forth from his palm. Under his control, the flames formed a scorching wall of fire, melting the ice spikes into water, which then evaporated.
The collision of ice spikes and fire wall produced a hissing sound, and hot steam filled the entire room.
The White Witch raised her eyebrows in surprise, seemingly taken aback that Wang Bo could block her attack.
So she raised her hand and tapped the table. An even colder magic surged out like a mountain flood, and in the blink of an eye, the room was completely frozen.
Whether it was tables, chairs, counters, walls, or ceiling, everything was covered in a thick layer of ice.
Wang Bo's blazing wall of fire was frozen into a wall of ice in an instant.
Even flames had to freeze under her magic.
And even Wang Bo himself was frozen in an instant.
The only person in the entire room unaffected was the White Witch herself. No matter how cold her magic was, it could not harm her in the slightest.
