Chapter 020: Built-in Superpowers
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第020章 自带超能力
After Wang Bo accepted over four hundred male demons, Lady Gremory presented another contract.
This contract stored the souls of over four hundred male demons. As long as Wang Bo held the contract, he was the master of these demons.
He could dispose of them at will, and they could not resist. They could not harm Wang Bo in any way, nor disobey his orders.
Otherwise, they would suffer the contract's punishment.
More importantly, Wang Bo could kill all four hundred demons simply by destroying the contract.
This might sound cruel.
But Wang Bo felt it was absolutely necessary, because he knew that demons living in hell were not kind beings; their cunning and evil far exceeded human imagination.
Without this contract, Wang Bo doubted he could control these demons.
With the contract, none of them could defy his orders.
What was more interesting was that the contract came with a miniature space that could hold over four hundred demons. When they entered it, they fell into slumber.
If Wang Bo needed them, he could hold the contract and summon them with a single command, driving them as he pleased.
For Wang Bo, these four hundred demons were like four hundred slaves.
Moreover, they were slaves with no freedom, whose lives he could end at any moment. The demons knew this and treated Wang Bo with great respect.
Wang Bo looked at the four hundred demons, raised his right hand, and a golden parchment appeared in it.
This was the contract Lady Gremory had given him.
The parchment bore Lady Gremory's power, making it a supreme treasure for demons.
Besides various harsh terms, the parchment also contained the true names of over four hundred demons, which was one reason Wang Bo could command them freely.
Seeing the golden parchment, the demons looked at Wang Bo with even more awe.
Wang Bo unfurled the parchment, revealing rows of names. He casually read one.
“Sebas.”
A purple-haired demon stood up and said respectfully, “My lord.”
Wang Bo looked up at him. Apart from the horns on his forehead and wings on his back, the demon was also quite handsome, comparable in looks to the Round Table host club of the Nasuverse.
But in terms of power, he was far inferior.
The demons Lady Gremory gave Wang Bo were the lowest-ranking demons in hell.
This was why a human soul could fetch a sky-high price of a hundred or even a thousand demons.
If Wang Bo and Lady Gremory's transaction were reversed,
it would be like Wang Bo trading a hundred ants for a demon's soul.
Wang Bo felt he had made a profit—trading a hundred ants for a demon's soul was an amazing deal, a total steal.
That was Lady Gremory's thinking, and she had not hidden it from Wang Bo.
The transaction was conducted on a fair and voluntary basis.
Although the demons Gremory sent were the lowest, and might be wiped out by the Knights of the Round Table from the Nasuverse, they were still demons in Wang Bo's eyes.
They might not match Heroic Spirits, but they far surpassed humans.
Each demon present could easily lift a ton. Their running speed exceeded thirty meters per second; they could cover a hundred meters in three seconds or less.
Whether in flexibility or defense, they far exceeded humans.
If such a demon were placed on a battlefield, he would surely be a warrior capable of defeating a thousand.
Yet even such a warrior was at the very bottom of hell. This showed how terrifying the demon race was, and how fearsome hell could be.
“Sebas, tell me, what ability do you have?” Wang Bo asked softly.
In hell, every demon had its own ability, and Sebas was no exception. He replied respectfully, “My lord, my ability is disguise. I can disguise myself as anyone I have seen. Unless a demon of higher rank than me sees through it, no one can see through my disguise.”
Wang Bo said “Oh,” and read another name, “Garon.”
A burly red-haired demon stood up and bowed to Wang Bo, “Garon greets my lord.”
“And what is your ability?” Wang Bo asked.
Garon said, “My lord, my ability is poison. I can turn my cells, hair, and blood into any poison I have ingested, and even combine various poisons to create new ones.”
Wang Bo suddenly pointed at the demon who had first stepped out of the magic circle and said, “And you, what is your ability?”
The demon said, “My lord, my ability is sound. I can manipulate all kinds of sounds, including infrasound and ultrasound.”
Hearing this, Wang Bo seemed to understand.
Demons were essentially a race with built-in superpowers; every demon had a superpower, even the demon gods were no exception.
For example, Lady Gremory's superpower was to know all things past and present, predict the future, and discover hidden treasures.
Another example was the 48th of the 72 Pillar Demon Gods, Haggith, whose form was a bull with eagle wings. He could grant wisdom and had the ability to turn stone into gold and water into wine.
Then there was the 44th of the 72 Pillar Demon Gods, Shax, who lurked in water for long periods and spoke in a faint, hoarse voice. He could deprive people of their seven senses and steal royal treasures.
Thus, not all demon gods possessed extremely powerful abilities.
Their strength came not from their abilities but from their own inherent power.
After some conversation, Wang Bo discovered that demons were born with these abilities etched into their souls, but interestingly, these abilities could not be strengthened through training.
Thus, demons could only continuously accumulate magic power, tap into their bloodline, and strengthen their souls to undergo transformation.
From lower-class demons to middle-class demons, then to upper-class demons, and finally to supreme-class demons.
Each transformation would evolve their innate abilities.
Such was the life of a demon.
To transform from a supreme-class demon into a demon god?
Heh, with countless demons in hell and only seventy-two demon gods, one could see how difficult that step was—almost impossible.
Most demons could not achieve it; in fact, the vast majority remained lower-class demons, and even evolving into middle-class demons was extremely difficult.
For instance, the demons Lady Gremory sent to Wang Bo were all lower-class demons, even those judged incapable of evolving.
