Chapter 033: Treasure

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第033章 宝藏

After breakfast, everyone packed up and decided to enter the ancient tomb once again.

The purpose this time was to find the treasure.

But unlike yesterday, this time the group was no longer wandering aimlessly; they had a guide. After entering the tomb, Wang Bo opened the Book of the Dead, chanted a spell, and summoned a spirit.

This was a spirit that had been dead in Hamunaptra for who knows how long, and it was very familiar with the environment there.

"Take us to the treasure vault." Wang Bo commanded the undead.

The translucent undead could not defy Wang Bo's command. It nodded and floated forward.

Wang Bo and his group quickly followed.

In the silent ancient tomb, only the sounds of breathing and footsteps echoed.

Evelyn couldn't stand the atmosphere; she felt it was too oppressive, and goosebumps rose all over her body. So she couldn't help but say, "Why is no one talking?"

O'Connell said, "What do you want us to say?"

"Say anything, anything at all. Don't you find this atmosphere too creepy? I never knew that exploring an ancient tomb would require a ghost to lead the way."

These words struck a chord with Jonathan, making him nod repeatedly.

Lara said, "To be honest, I never thought I would experience something so magical. It has been a wonderful experience for me."

Evelyn looked at Laura with a surprised expression, as if to say she never expected Laura to be like this, but her own opinion was completely different. “I don’t think this experience is good at all; I think it’s simply terrible.”

O'Connell looked at the spirit leading the way ahead and said, "Although I don't think this is a good experience either, there's no denying that it's a very novel experience."

"That's true, having a spirit guide you through an ancient tomb is indeed quite novel." Jonathan said, forcing himself to suppress the fear in his heart.

Wang Bo, walking at the front, suddenly interrupted the group's conversation.

"Gentlemen, enough small talk. I think we need to speed up."

“Why?”

"Because I hear thousands of scarabs moving toward us." Wang Bo's ear twitched as he heard the sound of scarabs drawing closer to their group.

So he quickened his pace and broke into a trot.

Under his leadership, the others dared not slack off and all began to run.

"Speed up, hurry up!" Wang Bo urged everyone as he ran, because he noticed that the scarab beetle was moving at a truly fast pace, getting closer and closer to their group.

"I'm already running." Evelyn was somewhat displeased with Wang Bo's constant urging.

"But you're not running fast enough," Wang Bo said. "At this speed, I believe in a few minutes you'll become a fine meal for the scarab beetles. Do you want to sacrifice yourself to buy us time?"

"Then think of something, use magic," Evelyn reminded him.

Wang Bo said, "You think I don't want to? But so far, I haven't found a way to kill or control the scarab. I think the Golden Book of the Sun should have a way to deal with the scarab."

"Do you think I can flip through the Golden Sun Sutra while running like you?" Evelyn said as she ran.

That thing is made of pure gold.

Jonathan rolled his eyes and said, “I say, you two, enough bickering. How far is the scarab from us, and will it catch up?”

Wang Bo said bluntly, "At the current speed, we will be caught up with very soon."

He wasn't trying to scare them, for the scarab was indeed getting closer and closer.

"Then think of a way," Evelyn shouted. She really didn't want to become a meal for the scarab beetles.

Just then, a flash of inspiration struck Wang Bo, and he stopped in his tracks. "I've got an idea."

"What way? Why aren't you running?"

Wang Bo said, "Don't worry, leave it to me!"

He twitched his ears a few times, determined the direction from which the scarab was pursuing, and with each breath, the ripples began to spread. Wang Bo lifted one foot and stomped heavily on the ground.

"Go to hell, Immortal Wave Dash."

This technique originated from the first-generation JoJo—a ripple that could conduct through walls. With this kick, Wang Bo used the ripple to transmit immense force, directly killing a large number of scarab beetles.

When JOJO's master, Zeppeli, once demonstrated the Ripple to JOJO, he punched a frog, leaving the frog unharmed, but the stone beneath the frog was shattered by Zeppeli's blow.

Wang Bo had just used a similar technique.

His foot came down without shattering the ground, but the force traveled through the earth, killing large numbers of scarab beetles.

Having scored a hit, Wang Bo repeatedly stamped on the ground, sending waves of powerful force into the earth with each ripple, killing wave after wave of the pursuing scarabs.

Soon, the scarab beetles that had originally been fearless scattered in a swarm.

Wang Bo heard the sound of the scarabs leaving and couldn't help but nod in satisfaction.

“What are you doing?” Evelyn asked curiously.

“I’m killing the scarab.”

“Where are the scarab beetles?”

"I killed a large number of them, and now they've left."

"Are you sure?" Jonathan couldn't help raising an eyebrow. He hadn't seen any scarab beetles just now, only watched Wang Bo stomp his feet repeatedly, and then he told them the scarab beetles were dead.

This is too much of a joke.

This guy isn't messing with us, is he? Jonathan couldn't help thinking.

Evelyn stamped her foot and asked, "What you just did—could it be that you were using some mysterious Eastern sorcery?"

"You could say that." After all, Ripple Qigong could be considered a mystical power from the East.

Jonathan also stomped his foot and asked, "There are such mysterious spells in the East? No incantation needed, just a stomp?"

His tone was thick with disbelief.

Wang Bo patted his clothes and said, "There are many more mysterious arts in the East; stomping the foot is nothing. Let's go. The treasure is almost here."

Upon hearing about the treasure, Jonathan immediately cast his doubts to the winds.

"Then what are we waiting for? My treasure can't wait to be unearthed."

He quickened his pace, striding forward.

The others followed. After a few turns, they passed through a stone door and entered a secret chamber. For a moment, everyone was stunned by the sight before them.

By the light of the torches, everyone could clearly see that the room was filled with heaps of gold: gold bricks, gold cups, gold plates, gold flasks, gold scimitars, and mountains of gold coins.

Besides gold, there were also precious items such as gems of various colors, pearls, agates, diamonds, and so on.
