Chapter 004: Flower Town
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第004章 鲜花镇
The border of the kingdom was a place called the Flower Plain.
Because the plain was covered with all kinds of flowers that bloomed year-round, with different flowers blossoming every season, it earned the reputation of the Flower Plain.
To be honest, Wang Bo had never seen such a beautiful plain. As far as the eye could see, flowers of every kind bloomed in a riot of color, gorgeous and unparalleled.
It even gave Wang Bo a feeling of unreal beauty.
It seemed that only in a fairy-tale world could such a beautiful scene appear.
Wang Bo led his soldiers along the roads of the Flower Plain. On both sides of the flat road were all kinds of flowers he had never seen before.
They were neither roses nor peonies, neither Chinese roses nor lilies... Although these flowers also existed on the Flower Plain, most were flowers Wang Bo had never seen or recognized.
Seeing these flowers and smelling the refreshing fragrance in the air, Wang Bo felt carefree and intoxicated, thinking that this trip was truly worthwhile.
If he hadn't come out, he would never have seen such a beautiful sight.
The endless Flower Plain alone washed away all of Wang Bo's fatigue.
After entering the Flower Plain, Wang Bo got out of the carriage, mounted a tall horse, and strolled across the boundless plain.
From morning until noon, Wang Bo and the prince finally saw their destination.
Flower Town!
Flower Town was a town renowned throughout the kingdom on its border. The town had about several thousand residents, who made a living selling flowers and managed the vast Flower Plain.
The residents of Flower Town all knew how to grow flowers, and some could even make delicious food from various flowers, or brew fine flower wine.
Because of this, they were famous throughout the kingdom, and the town was also one of the most beautiful in the kingdom.
Wang Bo's arrival broke the town's tranquility.
When he rode his horse into the town with his soldiers, the originally bustling town fell into silence. Pedestrians coming and going on the streets looked at Wang Bo, and every eye was filled with unease.
Adults stopped their work, children stopped laughing, and even the dog that had been barking incessantly closed its mouth, letting out a whimper.
Wang Bo rode his horse along the wide streets of Flower Town to the town square and ordered someone to summon the town's mayor.
To Wang Bo's considerable surprise, the mayor of Flower Town was not a capable middle-aged man, nor a wise old man, but a woman who still retained her charm.
This young woman, about thirty years old, with a child in tow, had a head of golden curly hair, a pair of long, seductive eyes, and a voluptuous figure.
And of course, a very pleasant-sounding name... Annabel.
After the captain of the guard revealed the identities of the prince and Wang Bo, Annabel immediately bowed.
"Annabel greets the prince and the duke."
The prince quickly helped Annabel up, then stepped back and said, "Mayor Annabel, we have come this time to take the residents of Flower Town to seek refuge in the royal capital. Please inform the residents of Flower Town as soon as possible."
Annabel's face turned pale. Her lips moved a few times, and she said, "Is war coming again?"
The prince said reluctantly, "Yes. According to the intelligence we've obtained, the White Chrysanthemum Kingdom will soon go to war with another kingdom, and the battlefield will be the Flower Plain."
"White Chrysanthemum Kingdom?" As Annabelle uttered the name, a flicker of hatred burned in her eyes.
Wang Bo looked thoughtful but still said, "Mayor Annabelle, now is not the time to hesitate. You should gather the residents as soon as possible, convey the order, and have them pack their belongings to leave with our troops. Once the war is over, they can return to Flower Town."
Annabelle quickly nodded and had the bell in the center of Flower Town Square rung to gather the residents.
When most of the residents had assembled, Annabelle announced the evacuation order.
A great uproar ensued.
After all, everyone had lived in their town for over a decade, or even decades. Suddenly being asked to leave their homeland for an unknown place—few were willing to accept it.
But when the people learned that war was imminent, most fell silent.
Annabelle stood in the square and said loudly, "I know none of you want to abandon your homes and leave. But war is merciless and cold; it will devour your lives."
"So, I hope you can calm down, take your loved ones—wives, husbands, children, parents—and leave here to take refuge in the capital."
"But I want you to remember: we are not leaving forever. Our roots are here. This is our home, the place where our hearts belong."
"Therefore, when the war ends, I hope you will return—return here, to the Flower Plain, to Flower Town—and rebuild our home."
"Now, please pack your belongings and follow our prince and duke to leave this place, far from the war."
Wang Bo could see that Annabelle seemed to have great prestige and reputation in Flower Town.
Under her persuasion, the vast majority accepted reality and returned to their homes to pack.
Just then, a crow suddenly flew from afar and landed on a soldier's shoulder.
The soldier turned to look at the crow, as if receiving some information.
After a moment, he walked over to Wang Bo and said, "Master, I've detected an army heading this way, about three hundred men, expected to arrive in half an hour."
Wang Bo said, "Take a few men and intercept them."
A grin spread across the soldier's face. "Understood, Master."
With that, he left with a few men.
The prince saw this and walked over slowly, asking, "Duke, has something happened?"
Wang Bo said calmly, "Nothing. I just had them collect some rare flowers to decorate my room. If you need some, my lord, I can have them gather some for you."
Prince Kit shook his head. "No, thank you."
He did not suspect Wang Bo's words. After all, only a few soldiers had just left. If they had indeed discovered an enemy army, a handful of soldiers would be useless except to be killed.
But he did not know that the soldiers who had just left were not real soldiers.
They were demons.
With the strength of these few demons, killing thousands would be no problem, let alone routing a force of a few hundred.
