The king said, “You should help me persuade Kit. He ought to marry a princess, not keep pining after a country girl.”

Prince Kit said neither humbly nor arrogantly, “Father, you once told me that your feelings for Mother were the same as mine.”

“Yes, but the premise is that she should be a princess,” the king replied.

The young Prince Kit was momentarily at a loss for words. Feeling he might not be able to convince his father, he cast a pleading look at Wang Bo.

Wang Bo remained calm, ignoring Prince Kit's pleading gaze.

I gave you a dragon, not for you to marry some country girl, but to stabilize the situation in your country, to prevent the nation from falling apart and the common people from being displaced by war.
