Chapter 018 France
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第018章 法国
Although several days had passed since that banquet and the other party had shed all her magic, Wang Bo still recognized at a glance that the gray beauty before him was the princess who had worn crystal shoes that night.
Cinderella from the fairy tale world.
Wang Bo smiled slightly. Seeing that Cinderella was a bit shy, he asked softly, “What’s your name?”
“Ella,” she replied.
Wang Bo said, “Oh,” then continued, “Do you know why I came to see you today?”
Ella shook her head.
Wang Bo went on, “Originally, you were supposed to marry the prince. But for the sake of the kingdom, the prince had to marry a princess to stabilize the situation. Still, he likes you, so he secretly sent people to find you.”
Undoubtedly, this was a lie.
Prince Kit had no idea about Cinderella’s situation; he didn’t even know that the girl he liked was still at home, being treated like a servant by her stepmother and stepsisters.
The moment he agreed to marry the princess, he had given up on Cinderella.
But Wang Bo thought it was a pity, after all, the prince and Cinderella were a rare fairy tale.
After all, in most fairy tales, the prince and princess live happily ever after.
And the prince and Cinderella were a special case in the fairy tale world.
Even Wang Bo didn’t want this pair to become strangers.
So he found Cinderella, using the prince’s name, and told her that the prince still liked her and had sent him to find her.
Upon hearing this, Cinderella was indeed very happy, and her originally dirty little face broke into a bright smile.
But her stepmother was not so happy; standing aside, her eyes were full of jealousy and anger.
Wang Bo didn’t care about her thoughts. After all, she was just an ordinary woman. She might be able to order Cinderella around without restraint, but in front of him, she had to lower her head.
Wang Bo raised his hand, cast a cleaning spell to sweep all the dust off Cinderella, then cast a mending charm to repair her tattered clothes.
In the blink of an eye, Cinderella turned into a bright and lovely young girl.
Wang Bo had already seen Cinderella’s stunning beauty at the banquet, so he wasn’t surprised by her looks.
Without such looks, she probably wouldn’t have caught the prince’s attention.
After all, the basic condition for love at first sight is high enough looks. If her looks weren’t good, it would be too difficult for the prince to fall in love at first sight.
Cinderella looked at her clean hands and clothes in surprise and said excitedly, “This is magic. You’re a wizard.”
“That’s right,” Wang Bo admitted. Then he said, “Ella, I can see that your life doesn’t seem very good. Would you like to leave here with me? For the prince’s sake, I can give you a better life.”
Cinderella shook her head and said, “I want to stay here.”
“Why?” Wang Bo asked. He didn’t think Cinderella was cheap or liked being a servant; from her expression, there seemed to be another reason.
Cinderella said, “This is what my parents left me. This place holds all my memories with them. Staying here, I always feel that they haven’t left me, that they’re still with me.”
Wang Bo finally understood. “A place full of memories, huh.”
Some people are just nostalgic.
Cinderella was clearly one of them.
“Alright, then you can stay here. But I’m taking these people away. You don’t mind, do you?” Wang Bo pointed at Cinderella’s wicked stepmother and two stepsisters.
Cinderella nodded, then asked, “What are you going to do with them?”
“Are you worried about them?” Wang Bo caught the meaning in her words.
Cinderella said slowly, “Although they were unkind to me, they never hurt me.”
Though her stepmother had always treated her like a servant, giving her leftovers and mocking her at the slightest displeasure, there was one thing: her stepmother had never beaten her.
So Cinderella had been able to endure her stepmother’s harshness all along.
Wang Bo nodded understandingly. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt them. I’ll just banish them from the capital, forbid them from setting foot in the capital again, and keep them away from you.”
Hearing this, Cinderella finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Wang Bo said, “You are very kind.”
Cinderella said, “Be strong and brave, be kind and good. That’s what my mother taught me, and I’ve never forgotten it.”
Wang Bo couldn’t help but be moved. What a good girl she was.
And yet, because of a dragon, she couldn’t marry the prince. What a pity.
This also strengthened Wang Bo’s resolve to settle accounts with that dragon. As for the fact that he himself had prevented the prince from marrying her, Wang Bo had already forgotten.
It wasn’t me, impossible, not my doing.
After driving away Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters and rescuing her from the fire, Wang Bo returned the ownership of the country castle to Cinderella.
He originally wanted to send a few servants to attend to Cinderella, but she refused.
“Over the years, I’ve gotten used to working. I don’t like being served.”
“That won’t do,” Wang Bo said. “If you marry the prince someday, you’ll have to learn to be served.”
“That’s impossible,” Cinderella shook her head.
“Why?”
“Because everyone knows that the prince and the princess are together. I’m just a… Cinderella,” she said, a hint of inferiority in her voice.
In her eyes, she was just a country girl, unworthy of the prince.
Wang Bo said, “Maybe a miracle will happen.”
If the dragon in the Kingdom of Schuna really was a time traveler, once he sent that dragon away, everything might return to normal, and then Cinderella could still marry the prince.
But Cinderella only thought Wang Bo was comforting her. She shook her head, holding no hope.
“Your Grace, may I ask you for a favor?” Cinderella suddenly remembered something and looked at Wang Bo pleadingly.
Wang Bo said, “Tell me.”
“I want to go find my father,” Cinderella said.
“Your father?” Wang Bo said. “Isn’t he dead?”
“Yes,” Cinderella nodded, her expression dim. “He died of illness, in a country called France. So I want to bring back his ashes and bury them with my mother.”
“Wait a minute?” Wang Bo suddenly reacted. “You said your father died where?”
“France.”
Wang Bo rubbed his temples. Wasn’t this place another world? Why did a place called France pop up? This wasn’t scientific, nor was it magical.
“Are you sure you didn’t say it wrong?”
