Chapter 023: Sending Off
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第023章 送走
Although the old man at the inn had acted improperly, it was only human nature.
After all, Rella's father was no relative of his, and it was already good of him to have collected the body for burial.
But the problem was that his business partner should have been there to collect Rella's father's body as well. Couldn't he have been more careful and built a better grave for Rella's father?
Or was it that when a person leaves, the tea grows cold, or perhaps burials in this era were simply that shoddy.
When she saw the grave, Cinderella Rella, who had been strong throughout the journey, finally dropped her disguise, knelt at the grave, and wailed bitterly, heart-wrenchingly. It was clear that she truly loved her father.
But life is full of disappointments; even Wang Bo could not save her father.
Among the magic he mastered, there was no spell to summon the dead, nor could he bring someone who had died years back to life.
He was still too weak.
Wang Bo and Bell stood on either side, quietly in front of Cinderella Rella. After she had fully vented her grief, he stepped forward and asked, "Let me do it."
Cinderella Rella nodded and stepped back.
Wang Bo raised his hand and cast a spell. A few seconds later, the ground trembled slightly, and pebbles on the grave mound fell, rolling far away.
Then the earth split open, and a black coffin broke through the ground, slowly landing on the surface under Wang Bo's control.
Seeing this, Bell couldn't help but exclaim in awe, her face full of envy.
Sometimes, magic was truly miraculous.
Cinderella Rella stepped forward, opened the coffin, and saw a decayed body. But from the clothes, it was the outfit her father had worn when he last left home.
That outfit had been prepared by Rella herself.
After confirming that the person in the coffin was her father, Rella's tears flowed again.
Wang Bo stepped forward and patted her shoulder. Cinderella Rella hugged him tightly, crying silently. It wasn't that she had fallen for Wang Bo, but that she needed someone to quietly accompany her.
After a while, Cinderella Rella finally composed herself, let go of Wang Bo, and whispered, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Wang Bo smiled slightly, not minding it.
He waved his hand, closed the coffin, and cast another spell, shrinking it to the size of a palm, then placed it in Cinderella's hand.
"Here you go."
Cinderella Rella thanked Wang Bo again and then carefully put away the shrunken coffin.
Inside was her father's remains; she had to treat it with solemnity.
Wang Bo asked softly, "Now that you've achieved your goal, do you want me to send you back?"
With a single teleport, he could send Cinderella back to the countryside castle where she had lived for over a decade.
Rella thought for a moment and asked, "After I bury my father, can I continue traveling with you?"
These days of travel had been the most carefree time for her, with nothing to think about except learning magic and enjoying different scenery every day, second only to the happiest days of her childhood.
Wang Bo thought for a moment and said, "Of course."
He also felt that traveling with two people was much more interesting than traveling alone.
At least the journey wouldn't be too dull.
Bell, standing by, heard this and felt extremely envious. She yearned for the outside world, but due to limited circumstances, she had to stay cooped up in this rural place.
So hearing that Wang Bo and Rella could travel together and see the world's scenery, she felt as if she had eaten a hundred lemons—sour all over.
"Give me three days, okay?" Rella said. "Come pick me up in three days."
"No problem." Wang Bo nodded and with a teleport, sent Rella back to her countryside castle.
Seeing Rella vanish instantly, Bell couldn't help asking, "Where did she go?"
Wang Bo replied, "I sent her back to her hometown."
He paused and then said, "Thank you, little girl. Thank you for bringing us here, for helping Rella find her father's remains."
Bell shook her head and said, "You're welcome. It was the least I could do. I have a father too. If he died, I would be very sad, so I completely understand how Rella feels."
Wang Bo said, "Even so, I still want to thank you. How about this: you can make a wish, and I'll try my best to fulfill it."
Bell had already been envious of Wang Bo and Rella's travels, and now hearing Wang Bo's words, she blurted out, "I want to travel too. I don't want to stay in this place forever. I want to see the outside world."
Wang Bo wasn't surprised; it was within his expectations. A girl unwilling to be ordinary would always yearn for the outside world, even knowing she might get battered out there.
Wang Bo said softly, "I understand your thoughts, but you're different from us. You have your own attachments, right?"
Wang Bo was alone in this world.
And Rella's parents had both passed away; she was all by herself.
So the two could wander freely. But Bell was different: her mother had died when she was young, but her father was still alive.
So she had attachments; she couldn't abandon her father and go out into the world alone.
Hearing Wang Bo's words, Bell quickly realized this, and her face darkened.
She knew she had been politely refused. "Sorry, forget what I just said, as if I never said it."
As she spoke, she gave a bright, bitter smile.
Wang Bo nodded, and the two returned the way they came.
Wang Bo planned to rest in this small town for one night, then set off the next day for another city, such as this world's Paris.
Wang Bo wanted to know the difference between the Paris of the fairy-tale world and the Paris of the real world.
Would there be no difference, or would even more wonderful things await Wang Bo?
Afterward, Wang Bo would stay in Paris for a few days, then pick up Cinderella Rella, and they would travel together to even farther places.
Once Wang Bo grew tired of traveling, he would head to the Kingdom of Xuna and confront that dragon.
Yes, Wang Bo, already captivated by travel, had long put the dragon matter out of his mind. After all, it wasn't going anywhere; there was no rush.
Back in the town, a man stormed over, pointed at Wang Bo, and said, "Bell, who is this man?"
His expression was like that of a man whose wife had cheated on him, wearing a green hat of shame.
Could this guy be Bell's lover?
If so, Bell's taste wasn't great. Wang Bo, now well-traveled and experienced with people, could tell at a glance that this burly man was narrow-minded and self-centered.
A person like that could never truly love anyone else.
