Chapter 031: Splendid

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第031章 棒极了

The person Wang Bo wanted to observe was none other than the super villain, one of Diana's enemies.

Isabel Maru! The infamous Doctor Poison!

Wang Bo remembered that in the plot, when everyone intended to end World War I, Doctor Poison, under Ludendorff's command, with Ares' help, created a poison that rendered gas masks useless.

And she planned to deploy this poison in London, thereby destroying the entire city and pushing the war into an even greater conflagration.

However, in the end, her plan was thwarted by Steve Trevor.

But now, even Ares had died at Wang Bo's hands, and the plot had been thoroughly altered. So Wang Bo wasn't sure whether Isabel Maru had actually invented this poison gas or not.

Therefore, Wang Bo had to see for himself.

If she hadn't, then Wang Bo only needed to eliminate Ludendorff, and World War I could end smoothly.

If she had, Wang Bo would have to destroy the poison first, then deal with Ludendorff.

After hearing Wang Bo's explanation, Diana immediately said, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's find Ludendorff and Isabel Maru now and stop them."

As a superhero, she couldn't stand such anti-human elements.

Faced with this situation, she felt duty-bound to step forward.

Wang Bo wasn't one to drag things out either. Seeing Diana full of resolve, he shed his divine armor and led Diana to the enemy camp.

Wang Bo cast a small spell to make himself and Diana invisible, and the two of them strolled boldly through the German camp searching for Isabel Maru and Ludendorff.

Along the way, no one noticed Wang Bo and Diana's intrusion.

Well, that was only natural. After all, Wang Bo was now a decent magician; if his magic were detected by ordinary people, that would be too embarrassing.

The two circled the camp and soon found Isabel Maru, aka Doctor Poison.

After all, she was too easy to recognize.

A mask on her pretty face—such a unique outfit was simply one of a kind.

At that moment, Isabel Maru was conducting an experiment in the lab. Standing beside her was a stern-looking general; if Wang Bo wasn't mistaken, this guy was Ludendorff.

The two stared expressionlessly at an isolator, inside which lay a gas mask.

Isabel Maru opened the isolator's channel and released a green mist into the isolator.

Immediately, the gas mask began to shrink, and the lenses started to crack.

Then, in just a few seconds, the gas mask caught fire and burned.

When it was all over, the entire gas mask was in tatters.

General Ludendorff couldn't help but laugh heartily at the sight. With such a terrible poison gas, he believed Germany's victory was within reach.

"Well done, you did not disappoint me, Dr. Maru."

A smug smile appeared on Isabel Maru's face.

Diana's heart raced at the scene. She couldn't imagine the casualties if such poison were deployed on the battlefield.

Her gaze at Ludendorff and Isabel Maru was filled with intense horror and murderous intent.

Without hesitation, Diana drew the Sword of Hephaestus; as for Gungnir, she had already returned it to Wang Bo. She glanced at Wang Bo, seeking his approval.

Wang Bo shrugged and gave Diana a "go ahead" gesture. People like that weren't even worthy of dying by his hand.

So Diana unhesitatingly thrust her sword through Ludendorff's chest.

Thud!

Ludendorff, who had been laughing, suddenly felt a pain in his heart. Looking down, he saw a long sword protruding from his chest, and his face filled with shock.

He wanted to turn around and see who had killed him, but as his head twisted halfway, all his strength left him.

Finally, he fell to the ground, lifeless.

Isabel Maru, witnessing this, was so frightened that she collapsed to the floor. She stared in terror behind Ludendorff, but saw nothing—only a blood-dripping sword suspended in midair.

After killing Ludendorff, Diana turned her gaze to Isabel Maru.

Even though Isabel Maru couldn't see Diana, she still felt a chill all over, her skin prickling as if pierced by needles, aching terribly.

She kept backing away, afraid of dying without knowing how.

Diana looked at the terrified Isabel Maru, flicked the blood off her sword, and slowly approached her.

Seeing the sword floating in the air and drifting toward her, Isabel Maru quickly knelt on the ground, looking up at the sword with a pleading expression. "Please, spare me, spare me..."

She really didn't want to die.

Diana raised her sword, ready to strike several times, but in the end, she didn't bring it down.

In her fury, she had killed Ludendorff without hesitation and didn't regret it, but facing the unarmed Isabel Maru, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

If Isabel Maru had resisted to the death, Diana would have slain her without a second thought.

But the woman had already begged for mercy and was completely defenseless.

Diana couldn't bring herself to harm an unarmed person, especially one who had surrendered. It went against her principles and standards.

Yet, letting go of someone who had created such a deadly poison left her uneasy.

What if this woman escaped and used the poison to harm others?

In the end, Diana sheathed the Sword of Hephaestus. Seeing this, Wang Bo said, "Not going to kill her?"

"I cannot harm an unarmed person. It's not in my nature."

"Then what do you plan to do? Just let her go?" Wang Bo asked.

Diana said, "I'll take her back and imprison her on Themyscira. That way, she'll never have the chance to do evil again."

"Sounds good, but it's a bit troublesome."

"For now, it's the only option." Diana wasn't a bloodthirsty killer; she truly couldn't bring herself to kill the pleading Isabel Maru. She wasn't that kind of blood-soaked superhero.

"In that case, I have a good idea." Wang Bo suddenly thought of a great plan.

"What idea?"

Wang Bo pointed a single finger at Isabel Maru. "Stupefy."

Isabel Maru's eyes closed, and she fell to the ground in a deep sleep.

Then, Wang Bo cast the Obliviate spell, erasing all the knowledge Isabel Maru had ever learned, including the knowledge of making poison, and even the alphabet.

"When she wakes up, she'll be illiterate. What do you think of that?"

Diana looked at the sleeping Isabel Maru and nodded in satisfaction.

"Splendid!"
