Chapter 004: Magic
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第004章 魔法
Bryce felt very uncomfortable during dinner that evening, as if he had been force-fed a mouthful of dog food. So after the meal, he left without a second word.
Wang Bo didn't care about Bryce's departure.
The two of them were never on the same page anyway.
As for Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing, they cared even less. To them, Bryce was just a stranger, and in fact, Laura was also a stranger.
However, the two women had spent the afternoon with Laura and had a pleasant time, so their relationship with her barely moved from strangers to acquaintances, and that was all.
After dinner, Laura wanted to persuade the two women to stay overnight. "How about staying here tonight? I feel a strong connection with you; maybe we have more topics to discuss."
Xiao Bai herself had no objection. Having been cultivating in the Time Villa all these days, she also wanted to relax a bit. So she turned to look at Xiao Qing.
"I have no objection," Xiao Qing was happy with the idea. "I'm very interested in your adventures."
Laura said, "Actually, I'm also very interested in the mysterious power you possess."
Xiao Qing pointed at Wang Bo and said, "If you want to learn, you can ask him to teach you."
Wang Bo: ...
This girl really speaks her mind.
Laura looked at Wang Bo incredulously. "Chris, do you also understand mysterious powers?" She had lived with Chris for so many years and never knew her butler also understood mysterious powers.
Wang Bo said, "I only know a little about mysterious powers."
"Do you also know spells?" Laura asked curiously.
"To be precise, I know magic."
Wang Bo took a lighter out of his pocket, shook it gently, and the lighter in his hand turned into a goblet.
"My God, this is incredible." Laura said she had never been so astonished in her life. "How did you do it?"
"Transfiguration," Wang Bo said. "It's a magic that can transform objects, even between living and non-living things."
As he spoke, Wang Bo threw the goblet out. During its fall, the goblet instantly turned into a British Shorthair cat, landing lightly on the ground.
"Meow!" The shorthair let out a cute and charming mew that almost melted one's heart.
Laura quickly crouched down and beckoned to the shorthair.
The shorthair looked at Laura, then at Wang Bo, and then trotted on its short legs into Laura's arms. Laura quickly picked up the little shorthair, her face full of affection.
"My God, my God..." She stroked the cat while marveling at the wonder of magic. Then she looked up and asked, "When exactly did you learn such amazing magic?"
Wang Bo smiled slightly and said, "Actually, I haven't known this magic for too long."
For a long-lived species, a year or two is really not that long.
Laura couldn't help asking, "Where did you learn magic? Can I learn it too?"
"No problem," Wang Bo didn't refuse. "If you're willing to learn, I can teach you magic."
"That's wonderful!" Laura said happily. She had been fascinated by such mysterious powers since childhood; if not for that, she might have given up when she first encountered danger during archaeological expeditions.
Yet it was precisely this fascination that led her to embark on one marvelous adventure after another.
"When do we start?" She was already impatient.
"Whenever you like."
"How about tomorrow morning? I need to adjust my mindset tonight."
"Of course." Wang Bo did not refuse.
...
That night, after Laura fell asleep, Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing quietly appeared in Wang Bo's room.
Wang Bo casually set up a soundproof barrier and embraced the two women.
After some indescribable activities, Xiao Bai lay quietly beside Wang Bo and asked softly, "Are you really going to teach that woman magic?"
Wang Bo nodded. "I am now her butler. I replaced her original butler, and she lost an excellent butler without knowing it. Naturally, I must compensate her from another aspect. Teaching her magic is my compensation."
If Chris had family, Wang Bo would have compensated them.
But the problem was that Chris had no family, or rather, Laura was his family.
So Wang Bo could only compensate Laura in this way; teaching her magic was nothing.
Seeing that Wang Bo had made up his mind, Xiao Bai said no more.
As for Xiao Qing, she had already fallen asleep from exhaustion earlier.
The next day.
Before dawn, Wang Bo was awakened by a knock on the door. He dressed, teleported to the door, opened it, and saw Laura standing at his doorstep in her pajamas.
"Did I disturb you?" Laura saw through the crack in the door the two women still sleeping soundly in bed.
Wang Bo shook his head. For someone like him, full of energy and astonishing endurance, not sleeping for a hundred nights would still leave him vigorous.
"What brings you here so early?"
Laura said, "I know it's early, but I think I'm ready. I can't wait to learn magic. You know, I feel the same way I did before my first adventure—nervous and excited, even a little at a loss."
"I understand. I completely understand." Wang Bo said. In fact, he had felt the same way during his first traversal; it was only human.
"If you don't mind, can we start now, Chris?"
"Sure." Wang Bo said. "But before that, I need to prepare. Can you give me five minutes? Wait for me in the hall."
"Of course." Laura nodded.
Wang Bo smiled slightly, closed the door, entered the Time Villa, and took a bottle of magic potion. He had actually been producing these things all along.
But now, Wang Bo no longer drank these magic potions.
The reason was simple: these potions had lost their effect on him. His body had developed resistance to them, and no matter how much he drank, his internal magic power would not increase by a single iota.
So Wang Bo needed new magic drugs.
Now, a new magic potion had entered the experimental stage, its raw material being the blood of the war god Ares.
Wang Bo believed that the divine blood of a god would allow his magic power to leap forward once again.
