Chapter 024: The Qualities of a Hero

Wang Bo arrived at Wayne Manor, and it was still Alfred the butler who opened the door.

"Welcome, sir! Master Wayne is having dinner. Please follow me."

As a butler, Alfred was simply impeccable.

Wang Bo nodded in response and followed Alfred into the dining room, where he happened to see Bruce Wayne and Gwen having a meal, chatting and laughing like old friends who had known each other for years.

Wang Bo's appearance made both of them turn their gazes toward him in unison.

A trace of gratitude spread across Spider-Gwen's face. "I heard from Bruce that it was you who rescued me from the Falcone family yesterday. I'm truly grateful."

When she was first captured by the Falcone family, Gwen thought she was done for.

But when she woke up and saw Bruce Wayne, she realized she had been rescued. This gave Gwen an indescribable feeling of relief at having survived a disaster—after all, no one wants to die.

She was naturally very grateful to Wang Bo, who had saved her.

"You're welcome," Wang Bo said. "You falling into the hands of the Falcone family was my fault. Perhaps I should have sent you back the first time I saw you."

If Wang Bo hadn't concealed these things at that time, none of the above mess would have happened.

Gwen shook her head and said, "I've already heard the specifics from Bruce. Falling into the hands of the Falcone family was due to my own lack of strength; it's not your fault."

Although Gwen was not entirely sure why he hadn't revealed his identity right away, instead choosing to escort her home.

But going against the Falcone family was her idea. Falling into the hands of the Falcone family was also her own fault; she couldn't blame the other party for that.

Wang Bo did not continue the conversation on this topic. He pulled out a chair and sat down, asking with concern, "How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?"

Under Gwen's bewildered expression, he extended his right hand and said, "Take my hand, and I can send you home, back to your own world."

Gwen stared at him blankly, as if she didn't quite understand why Wang Bo had changed his mind, but she shook her head slightly.

Without a doubt, she refused.

This left Wang Bo utterly perplexed, and he couldn't help asking, "Why? Why are you rejecting me?"

Gwen said, "I've already promised Bruce that I'll deal with AFO together with him. I also think that a person with multiple superpowers staying in Gotham City is far too dangerous."

"So, after I send AFO away, I plan to leave Gotham City and return to my world. Is that okay?"

Wang Bo sighed and said, "Neither of you is a match for AFO."

Admittedly, Gwen's strength was formidable.

But AFO possesses who knows how many superpowers, and the combination of these superpowers is not as simple as one plus one equals two.

"But that's no reason for us to back down," Gwen said without hesitation. "And everyone has weaknesses. I don't believe AFO is truly invincible. Besides, he did lose to someone named All Might, didn't he?"

Wang Bo certainly knew this; it was he who had told Bruce about AFO's defeat at the hands of All Might.

But AFO losing to All Might doesn't mean he will lose to Gwen and Bruce.

"You will die," Wang Bo said. AFO is not a kind-hearted fellow.

Gwen was unmoved. "Everyone dies, and I've already made peace with that. I believe Bruce has too."

She fixed her beautiful eyes on Bruce Wayne.

Bruce Wayne said calmly, "From the moment I began fighting crime, I was prepared to die. Only those who are unafraid of death can defeat their opponents and achieve victory."

Wang Bo was taken aback. Was this the character that superheroes possessed?

Even when facing a powerful enemy, they will not retreat; instead, they will do their utmost and use every means to win.

Even in the face of death, they would not flinch.

This alone made Wang Bo admire.

At least he could be certain that he absolutely could not possess such a quality.

And Wang Bo also confirmed an idea, which was... no matter how powerful he became, he was ultimately not a superhero, nor could he ever become one.

He was nothing more than an ordinary person with the power of a superhero.

But even understanding this, Wang Bo had no intention of changing, because he felt that being an ordinary person was just fine—this was his life.

He doesn't need others to meddle, and he will never be assimilated by others.

"I understand." Wang Bo nodded. "Since you've made your decision, I won't interfere with it, nor do I have the right to. But I can promise you this: if one day you want to go home, I will take you back. That promise will always hold."

"Thank you." Gwen said gratefully.

"You're welcome."

Wang Bo thought for a moment, his eyes flickering several times before he suddenly made a decision.

"I won't join you against AFO."

"I know." Gwen nodded, unsurprised, because she had understood what kind of person Wang Bo was when he refused to join her in taking on the Falcone family.

However, Wang Bo's willingness to return from Metropolis to rescue her surprised Gwen greatly.

This matter alone was enough to prove that Wang Bo was not a cold-blooded person.

Wang Bo had already done so much for her that she could not ask him to do more.

"But I can teach you a breathing technique, one that might allow you to survive AFO's pursuit. This is the only thing I can do for you."

After much hesitation, Wang Bo finally decided to teach the Ripple Qigong to Gwen and Bruce.

At least this breathing technique could enhance their strength, preventing them from being easily killed by AFO.

Gwen asked, "What is the breathing method?"

As a Westerner and a mutated superpowered individual, her understanding of this aspect was not profound.

But Bruce was different; his master was the Ninja Master, and he had studied many fighting techniques, so he was no stranger to breathing techniques.

So he immediately explained, “The breathing method is a special way of breathing. Many martial arts have corresponding breathing techniques that can alleviate injuries and restore physical strength more quickly.”
