Chapter 026: Scorpio

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第026章 天蝎座

Wang Bo nodded and said, "That's right, you're correct. The Scorpion King's life is yours, so I'm willing to give you the chance to challenge him."

As he spoke, he stepped back, clearing the path to the tomb entrance.

Imhotep was taken aback. He didn't understand why Wang Bo would do this—was the man up to some trick? Or was he trying to set him up?

This made Imhotep hesitate.

Wang Bo sneered, "I give you the chance, and now you're reluctant? What are you afraid of? It's not like I'm going to eat you. Or are you just a born coward?"

Stung by Wang Bo's mockery, Imhotep flew into a rage. "How dare you!"

When he was alive, he was the High Priest, second only to the Pharaoh, powerful and noble. Few dared disrespect him.

Many looked upon him as if he were a god.

Even after death, turned into a mummy, he was still feared and revered, lest he return.

Now, being taunted by a mere human, Imhotep was furious. He stared into Wang Bo's eyes and roared, "You should learn respect. Kneel!"

Wang Bo immediately felt a powerful force trying to invade his mind and control his body.

He sneered, and solar true qi surged forth, his whole body radiating blinding golden light, forcibly breaking the cold deathly power.

The sun had the effect of breaking evil, and was the bane of deathly, evil, and dark forces.

Imhotep trying to use Anubis's power to control him was pure wishful thinking.

After Wang Bo broke Imhotep's spell, Imhotep suffered immediate backlash. Fortunately, he hadn't used full force—only a small test—so the backlash was mild. His body trembled slightly, then he recovered.

But his gaze toward Wang Bo grew more wary. This man was indeed stronger than he'd imagined, no easy opponent. Perhaps he should defeat the Scorpion King quickly, gain Anubis's army, and then deal with this fellow.

With that thought, Imhotep made up his mind and strode toward the tomb entrance.

Wang Bo watched Imhotep with a faint smile, making no move to stop him.

Once Imhotep and his men had entered, Wang Bo said to his companions, "Let's go. We're going in too. And O'Connell, get ready. Your turn is coming."

O'Connell nodded solemnly, took his wife's hand, and said softly, "I'll make you normal again."

Anck-su-namun's heart stirred, somewhat confused, but she nodded.

"Don't push yourself too hard."

Feeling his wife's concern, O'Connell grew even more determined to restore her to normal, to turn her back into Karen.

The group followed Imhotep into the Scorpion King's tomb, finding statues of Anubis everywhere.

Wang Bo wasn't surprised. This place was created by Anubis, so having his statues was normal.

Seeing Wang Bo's group following, Imhotep quickened his pace. He wanted to challenge the Scorpion King first, defeat him, and take command of Anubis's army.

Wang Bo watched Imhotep pass between two statues of Anubis, expecting Anubis to strip him of his powers, but nothing happened.

Imhotep, with his full magical power intact, passed through the statues and entered a magnificent hall.

On both sides of the hall were various weapons, meant for challengers to use against the Scorpion King.

Directly opposite the entrance was a large door, beside which hung a gleaming golden gong. Imhotep strode forward and struck the gong, which was carved with a scorpion.

Clang!

With the clear sound of the gong, a powerful deathly force burst forth from behind the door.

The Scorpion King was resurrecting.

Seeing this, Wang Bo remarked, "There's a small hiccup. Anubis doesn't seem to intend to strip Imhotep of his powers and make him challenge the Scorpion King as a mortal."

Evelyn said, "What do we do now?"

The Scorpion King, though a king, was ultimately an ordinary man. Even returned from death, he couldn't be a match for Imhotep.

A mummy who had suffered for three thousand years was far too terrifying.

O'Connell felt a pang of disappointment, but for his wife's sake, he was willing to take a risk. "Maybe we can steal the kill—finish the Scorpion King before Imhotep does."

As O'Connell finished speaking, the ground began to tremble slightly.

Everyone looked at each other, unsure where the tremor came from.

Wang Bo glanced at Hela and saw her looking back the way they came. He turned and used his x-ray vision to see outside the tomb: a group of jackal-headed warriors were rising from the desert and advancing toward them.

"It's Anubis's army. They sense the Scorpion King's resurrection and are approaching."

Everyone's face paled.

Wang Bo exhaled, his true qi surging. It seemed he would have to go all out.

At the same time, the door at the end of the hall opened from within, and a man in golden armor stepped out. Wang Bo's expression turned extremely strange.

The reason for Wang Bo's strange expression was not that the Scorpion King looked different from the story—half-man, half-scorpion.

Rather, it was because the golden armor the Scorpion King wore looked very familiar.

More importantly, he sensed a familiar power from the Scorpion King.

It was... Cosmo!!!

Yes, the unique Cosmo from the world of Saint Seiya!

And the golden armor he wore—wasn't that the Gold Cloth of Scorpio?

This was an unexpected surprise.

Wang Bo had never imagined the Scorpion King would appear dressed as a Gold Saint.

No wonder Anubis hadn't taken away Imhotep's powers. Facing a Scorpion King wearing a Gold Cloth, if Anubis had made Imhotep challenge him as a mere mortal, it would have been outright murder.

But then again, why was the Scorpion King wearing the Scorpio Gold Cloth? Wang Bo could tell it wasn't a fake—it was the genuine Scorpio Gold Cloth.

And he himself possessed Cosmo, but only at the Sixth Sense level, not the Seventh.

Even so, it bothered Wang Bo greatly.

How did the Scorpion King become a Gold Saint? Could he have traveled to the Saint Seiya world, become the Scorpio Gold Saint, and then returned to this world?
