Chapter 004: No Time to Delay

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第004章 事不宜迟

Of course, the reason people in the Oasis game were willing to use teleportation to travel to other planets was mainly because moving back and forth in the Oasis was not only expensive but also dangerous.

Because each sector was divided into several spaces of varying sizes, and these spaces usually contained several worlds at once—some only a few kilometers across, others vast and boundless.

Each space had its own rules.

For example, in some spaces magic could be used, while in others it couldn't. The same went for technology. If your spaceship strayed into a space that forbade high technology, the warp drive would stop instantly, and then you'd have to pay a gray-robed wizard to cast a spell to kick you into another tech-allowed space.

In short, dual spaces allowed both magic and technology, while null spaces allowed neither. Safe zones prevented PK combat, while in PVP territories everyone was on edge.

So when entering an unknown new space or sector, you had to be cautious and keep your wits about you.

Even more dangerous was that once your game character died in the Oasis, it was all over.

Whether you were a low-level nobody or a level fifty veteran, once your character died, it meant GAME OVER. Not only would your character's level be reset to zero, but all your money and equipment would be dropped as well.

In other words, once you died, you had to start over from scratch.

So even though the Oasis had been running for decades, most players weren't very high-level; reaching level fifty or so already counted as a top expert in the game.

After all, even the best slip up; no one is invincible.

While browsing web pages, Wang Bo had seen that a few years ago, a top player over level seventy was killed in a deathmatch tournament, losing years of effort in an instant, and quit the Oasis in a fit of rage.

As for whether he eventually came back, Wang Bo wasn't sure.

But that ID never appeared in the Oasis again.

From this, it was clear that this world was quite dangerous.

Wang Bo had just entered the Oasis and was still a level-one nobody. If he wanted to level up, he would have to go to the PVP territories to kill monsters or accept quests.

If he didn't want to level up, he could also go to some leisure or entertainment venues.

In fact, the vast majority of Oasis users didn't care about their levels or the game itself.

These people only treated the Oasis as a platform for entertainment, leisure, socializing, or doing business. Most users never even entered the quest areas or PVP territories.

Wang Bo certainly didn't want to be a casual player. He entered this game to experience its charm—whether leisure or combat, Wang Bo wanted it all.

But Wang Bo didn't immediately enter the quest area; instead, he logged out of the game.

When Wang Bo returned to the real world, he found that the sky had darkened. He had been in the Oasis for a whole day.

From this, it was clear that playing games really was a waste of time.

But as a long-lived species, Wang Bo didn't care about that bit of time at all.

The reason Wang Bo logged out this time was to take care of the matters at hand, and then throw himself into the game with full force and have a blast.

He took out the Dimension Door, placed it in the guest bedroom, then pushed the door open and returned to the Lonely Mountain in Middle-earth.

Then, through the treasure room of the Lonely Mountain, he returned to the world of Highschool of the Dead.

Although Wang Bo had only been in the Ready Player One world for a day, a full week had passed in Highschool of the Dead.

But when Wang Bo opened the Dimension Door to connect the two worlds, their time flow would gradually synchronize.

There would no longer be such a huge gap.

"Caroline, come see me."

Wang Bo returned to the world of Highschool of the Dead and gave an order to his maid.

Before long, Caroline hurried over.

"Master, welcome back."

"How have things been lately?" Wang Bo asked, sitting in a chair. "Have the zombies been cleaned up?"

Caroline nodded and said, "Not long ago, we finished clearing all the zombies in this world. Master, as of now, this world has three hundred high-ranking demons, eleven thousand mid-ranking demons, and the rest are all low-ranking demons. If we count the other world, this number could double."

"Good. And the humans? How many humans are left now?" Wang Bo asked another question.

"One hundred and ten million."

Wang Bo nodded. That number was acceptable; he was quite satisfied. If he hadn't acted in time and delayed a few more days, the number might have been even smaller.

"Have the relocation orders been passed down?" Wang Bo asked.

"Yes, they have."

"Anyone dissatisfied?"

Caroline nodded and said, "Indeed, many are dissatisfied. But rest assured, Master, we have isolated those who are unhappy. Most people have expressed willingness to move to the other world."

"That's good." Wang Bo nodded. He didn't want any mistakes at this critical point. "By the way, what about Malthus? How is the matter I assigned him progressing?"

Caroline said, "Malthus is searching for the humans who released the virus. He already has some leads, and I believe it won't be long before he captures them all."

"Very good." Wang Bo said. "Caroline, go to Ada Wong's world and ask her how the zombie situation there is."

Caroline nodded and turned to leave.

Wang Bo didn't idle either. He teleported to America and found Faora and Raddlough, who were calming the American people.

"Chief."

The two saw Wang Bo appear beside them and quickly bowed.

Ever since Wang Bo handed over this planet to them, all the Kryptonians had regarded Wang Bo as their true Kryptonian leader. Once Krypton was rebuilt, Wang Bo could easily become the emperor of Krypton.

Wang Bo waved his hand and said, "The zombies in this world have been dealt with. Once the humans are relocated, you can start terraforming this planet. It's also time to find Clark Kent."

Faora said excitedly, "Chief, when do we set off?"

Rebuilding Krypton required not only a vibrant planet but also the Codex, which controlled artificial reproduction. Without the Codex, it was impossible to create new Kryptonians.

So they had to obtain the Codex to rebuild Krypton and allow its glory to continue.

"No time to delay. We set off immediately." Wang Bo wanted to return to the Oasis game and have fun as soon as possible, so he had to deal with these troublesome matters quickly.

Thus, he certainly wouldn't slack off. He took Faora and Raddlough through the transfer station in Middle-earth and returned to the DC world.
