Chapter 014: Total Annihilation
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第014章 全军覆没
As the saying goes, past experience is a guide for the future.
Since the players ahead had already paved the way for Wang Bo, he naturally wouldn't be foolish enough to stay in the capital and fight the vampires chasing him. So he returned to the castle, deciding to settle things with the second wave of vampires pursuing him there.
After ten hours, several vampires chasing Wang Bo appeared near the castle.
Standing by a window in a room of the castle, Wang Bo looked down and was astonished to find not three vampires approaching the castle, but five figures.
This caught Wang Bo off guard. What was going on? Why were there suddenly two extra vampires? Something was wrong.
According to the players' descent rate, the pursuit was divided into three waves.
The first wave was one vampire, the second wave three vampires, and the third wave nine vampires.
Each wave was three times harder than the previous one.
Why, then, had it suddenly become five vampires in Wang Bo's case? Could it be that because he had performed too effortlessly in the previous task, the system had adjusted the difficulty?
That didn't seem right. Wang Bo remembered that the task difficulty was fixed and wouldn't change easily.
It was the same whether three people took on this task or ten people did.
But now a change had occurred, and the difficulty had suddenly increased. This made Wang Bo curious and slightly puzzled. Was it the system automatically adjusting the difficulty, or had someone interfered?
Unfortunately, with too few clues, Wang Bo couldn't determine the details. However, even if the task difficulty had increased, Wang Bo didn't care.
Just five vampires—nothing significant.
But the previous plan might need some adjustments. Wang Bo sent a few messages to Malthus and Caroline, tweaking the combat strategy.
Soon, both demons replied with a single word: “Received!”
The five vampires approached the castle like ghosts. One of them seemed to sense Wang Bo's gaze and looked up at the window. Wang Bo stared back fearlessly and made a throat-slitting gesture.
The vampire flashed a cold smile, abandoned his four companions without hesitation, and turned into a swarm of bats flying over.
Wang Bo immediately stepped back.
The bats slammed into the window, shattering the glass with a series of bangs, flew in, swirled in midair, and then coalesced into a human form.
But the next second, Wang Bo was already in front of him, his blessed cross sword tracing a cross in the air.
Cross Slash!
After being hit, the vampire revealed a ferocious grin. Black mist rose from his body, forming a large hand that ignored the Cross Slash and clawed at Wang Bo's throat.
However, the next moment, the cross sword burst into brilliant light.
The black mist melted away instantly, as if meeting the scorching sun.
The vampire had never expected Wang Bo's weapon to be a blessed one. Caught off guard, he let out a piercing scream and took the full force of the Cross Slash.
The cross sword cut through the vampire's chest, leaving an indelible wound on his torso.
Wang Bo could even see the heart beating within the cross-shaped gash.
The vampire wailed and retreated, trying to put distance between them, but Wang Bo didn't give him the chance. Without even having time to wonder why the vampire's heart was beating, he raised his cross sword and thrust it like a bolt of lightning.
In an instant, the cross sword pierced the vampire's heart.
The vampire's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Wang Bo. He hadn't expected that a moment of carelessness would cost him his life.
“Lord Dracula…” he seemed about to say something, but before he could finish, the vampire turned to ashes.
The remaining four vampires sensed their companion's aura vanish and became alert. One of them shouted, “Careful! He has church weapons.”
They had seen the light from the cross sword through the window. That pure white light was their natural enemy, their bane.
Wang Bo took a few steps forward, leaped, and with his hands shielding his forehead, smashed through the window, jumping down from the second floor of the castle.
In an instant, all the vampires' attention was involuntarily drawn to Wang Bo.
Fear and hatred flickered across every vampire's face.
Whoosh!
At that moment, an arrow shot out from the darkness, aimed at one vampire. Distracted by Wang Bo, the vampire only reacted when the arrow had already pierced the air and was right in front of him.
The vampire instinctively sidestepped, dodging the arrow.
But the next arrow followed closely, appearing before him in an instant.
The vampire had to scatter into a cloud of bats to evade the fatal strike. Just then, Wang Bo casually tossed a bottle of holy water.
A third arrow, like a phantom, struck the bottle containing the holy water. The fragile glass, unable to withstand the impact, shattered instantly.
Holy water sprayed everywhere. Most of the bats couldn't dodge in time and were drenched.
Many bats shrieked and turned to ashes.
The remaining bats barely managed to regroup, forming only a head and upper body; everything below the waist was gone.
The vampire glared venomously at Wang Bo but died before he could say anything.
The remaining three vampires, seeing this, had bloodshot eyes. They charged fearlessly, intent on tearing Wang Bo apart to avenge their comrade.
Just then, a iron hammer descended from the sky, slamming into one vampire and sending him flying.
Malthus appeared, engaging one vampire.
Caroline fired seven or eight arrows in quick succession, blocking another vampire.
In the end, only one vampire managed to reach Wang Bo.
Wang Bo showed no fear, wielding his cross sword to fight the vampire.
After just a few exchanges, Wang Bo figured out the vampire's patterns. These vampires were ultimately not real vampires but data; their attack patterns were too simplistic, lacking the flexibility of real people.
Once Wang Bo saw through his attack patterns, dealing with him became easy.
Ten seconds later, Wang Bo cut off one of the vampire's arms.
Twenty seconds later, he cut off the other arm.
Then, with the vampire severely wounded, Wang Bo took a few seconds to pierce his heart and cut off his head.
Malthus and Caroline didn't disappoint Wang Bo either, finishing their battles in short order.
From the start of the fight to its end, it took no more than five minutes for the five vampires to be completely annihilated.
