Chapter 007: The Female Lead

Laura's eyes widened involuntarily, and she couldn't help asking, "You know me?"

"Yes, I know you." Wang Bo nodded affirmatively.

"But I..."

Wang Bo knew what she was about to say and waved his hand to interrupt: "I know, you don't recognize me, which is perfectly understandable, after all, we have never met before."

Seeing Wang Bo nod, Laura's face showed an expression of disbelief. "But as far as I know, Cairo doesn't seem to be like this. There's no..."

"Skyscrapers?" Wang Bo inquired.

"Yes." Laura nodded.

"That's only natural, because this is Cairo in 1926."

"You're joking, right?" For a moment, Laura almost believed it, but then she came to her senses—how could she possibly have arrived in Cairo in 1926? That simply wasn't scientific.

Wang Bo said seriously, "Running away is useless, Miss Laura. I believe you have sensed this to some extent, haven't you? After all, the traces here are so obvious."

"No, you must be joking with me." Laura shook her head, refusing to believe.

"Yes, I am indeed joking with you."

"Really?" Laura's eyes lit up.

“Fake!” Wang Bo said decisively.

Laura: ...

After more than ten minutes, Laura finally calmed down, and the two sat on a step, no more than seven or eight meters apart. This distance, Wang Bo could cover in less than a second.

However, to accommodate Laura's fragile mood at the moment, Wang Bo did not act rashly.

"So, I really have come to Cairo in 1926." Having accepted reality, Laura asked.

"Then do you know why I came to a place like this?"

“How did you cross over?” Laura asked, taking the initiative, as if she wanted to grasp the details and then probe into the reasons, to see if she could find any clues.

Wang Bo said, "I'm not too clear about the specifics. I crossed over in my sleep. When I went to bed, I was still in my own home, but when I woke up, I found myself in this godforsaken place."

"I see," Laura said thoughtfully.

Wang Bo asked, "And you, how did you transmigrate?"

Laura did not conceal it. "I'm about the same as you. Before the crossing, my companions and I were sailing at sea, but our luck was terrible. We encountered a storm on the ocean, and then our ship split apart. I fell into the sea and lost consciousness. However, when I woke up, I found myself here."

Upon hearing this, Wang Bo was basically certain that the other party was the new version of Lara from Tomb Raider 9.

This version of Lara is not the same character as the classic Lara from the first eight installments of Tomb Raider; there is no connection between the two.

Or rather, this is Laura from another parallel world.

In the new version of the story, Lara Croft is not a battle-hardened adventuress but a young girl just starting out. To prove herself, she boards the Endurance with her best friend Sam, searching for a legendary ancient kingdom.

"We?"

"Yes, you and I are companions from the same world. I think we should help each other."

"What?"

"You and I do not come from the same world," Wang Bo said. "To be precise, we come from two completely different worlds, and then crossed over into the same world."

Laura was completely dumbfounded. It took her a while to snap out of it, and she looked at Wang Bo in disbelief. "You said you knew me. If we're not from the same world, how could you possibly know me?"

"Yes, I know you, Lara Croft, the heroine of [Tomb Raider 9]."

"What do you mean?" Laura asked unhappily.

"Have you ever played role-playing games?" Wang Bo asked.

"Played a few."

Wang Bo clapped his hands and said, "That makes it easy. In my original world, there was a game called 'Tomb Raider,' and the female protagonist of that game is you, Lara Croft!"

Laura couldn't help but open her mouth wide, completely at a loss for words. She opened her mouth several times, but no sound came out. She was utterly stunned.

It was a long moment before Laura calmed down and repeated the question once more, "You're joking, right?"

"I'm sorry, Miss Lara Croft, but I'm telling the truth." Wang Bo still looked serious.

"But this, this is utterly absurd."

"Yes, I find it absurd too. I never imagined that one day I would be stranded with a game's heroine, and in Cairo of 1926, no less."

Perhaps because the facts were too shocking, there followed a silence lasting half an hour.

Laura curled into a ball, hugging her legs, and said nothing.

Wang Bo sighed. He could understand Laura's situation. If one day, someone were to tell him that he was actually a character in a game, or a character in a novel.

Every word and action of his had already been planned for him.

Wang Bo figured that he would probably become a recluse too.

But Wang Bo also believed that he would eventually move on. And Miss Lara Croft would move on as well.
