Chapter 008: A Strange Place

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第008章 奇怪之地

Gwen did not doubt Wang Bo's words, because she knew Wang Bo would not deceive her with such things.

"What about the internal structure?" Gwen asked again.

Wang Bo waved his hand, and the building was magnified, its internal structure displayed before everyone, including the number of patrols and the positions of monitors and cameras, all marked by Wang Bo.

"Any more questions?" Wang Bo asked.

Everyone shook their heads in unison.

"Then why aren't you moving?" Wang Bo said seriously.

Gwen waved her hand and said in a tone of charging, "Come on, guys, let's save Mary Jane."

Wang Bo said, "Then I'll give you a boost, save you some time."

With that, he snapped his fingers.

Gwen, Peter Parker, Peni Parker, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham were all sent by Wang Bo to the balcony of a large building.

This building was only one street away from the building where Mary Jane was imprisoned.

"Why are we here?" Peter Parker said with a look of not yet awake, slapping his face and shaking his head vigorously, as if trying to wake himself up.

Peni Parker adapted quickly, exclaiming involuntarily, "What is this, teleportation? That's so cool."

Spider-Ham glanced sideways at Gwen and couldn't help asking, "Who exactly is that guy?"

Gwen said calmly, "This is not the time to talk about that. Let's discuss how to save Mary Jane."

Spider-Man Noir said, "I have an idea. I'm best at infiltration. Maybe you can charge in from the front to distract the patrols, while I sneak in and rescue Mary Jane."

"That's a good idea," Peter Parker agreed.

Peni Parker nodded.

Spider-Ham wanted to object, but seeing the approving looks on everyone's faces, he nodded reluctantly, "Alright, I agree too."

Gwen said, "Then let's move."

A few minutes later, she led Peter Parker, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham in a frontal assault.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man Noir sneaked into a study.

But no one expected that when Spider-Man Noir slipped in, he suddenly found the room had undergone a dramatic change.

The exquisite floor was replaced by rough stone slabs, the bookshelves and desk in the study had vanished, revealing walls built of stacked stones.

In this crude room, there was also a stone platform, on which sat a wooden chest.

What... what is this?

Spider-Man Noir was utterly bewildered. He looked back and found the window had disappeared.

Opposite the stone platform was a closed stone door.

Spider-Man Noir did not touch the wooden chest on the platform; instead, he stepped back, pushed open the stone door, and slipped out of the room.

Outside was a corridor.

The floor, walls, and even the ceiling of the corridor were made of the same stone material. Every ten meters or so along the walls, torches were placed, illuminating the entire corridor.

Spider-Man Noir grew even more confused, feeling he had arrived at a very extraordinary place.

He looked ahead and behind, saw no sign of his companions, and so stepped forward.

Out of caution, Spider-Man Noir did not call out loudly for his companions. After all, he was new to this strange place, unfamiliar with the surroundings, and who knew what weird things shouting might attract.

But soon Spider-Man Noir found that even without shouting, he would attract strange things.

After advancing about a hundred steps, he came to a three-way fork. Just as he was pondering which way to go, footsteps sounded.

Not from the left or the right, but from both sides.

From the left fork came a group of skeletons clad in armor and holding longswords, the armor and swords rusted, but in their hollow eye sockets burned faint ghostly flames, looking extremely eerie.

From the right fork came a group of zombies with rotting skin—or rather, they could be called丧尸.

The two groups—no, two groups of undead creatures—stared fixedly at the only living person in the corridor. At that moment, Spider-Man Noir felt very panicked.

Meanwhile, Gwen, Peter Parker, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham were running for their lives down a stone corridor.

Behind them were a group of ferocious-looking ghosts.

Physical attacks were essentially useless against these ghosts, so the group had no choice but to flee.

Who knew what unlucky things would happen if those ghosts caught up.

Spider-Ham shouted while running, "What the hell is going on? Weren't we in Kingpin's secret base? Why are we suddenly in this weird damn place?"

Peter Parker retorted, "Are you asking me?"

Spider-Ham yelled, "Who else would I be asking?"

"I don't know," the middle-aged Peter Parker said helplessly. "Maybe we're all under a hallucination."

Peni Parker, riding in her mech, said, "I checked just now; our brains are normal, not under any hallucination."

Gwen waved her hand, releasing a ball of flame in the narrow corridor. The flame burned fiercely, blocking the ghosts' path. "Maybe I know what's happening, but now is not the time to talk."

Soon, the ghosts surged forward, releasing cold air to extinguish the flame, and resumed the chase.

Spider-Ham, though small, was fast, running ahead of the others. "If you don't talk now, there may never be a chance."

Gwen waved her hand again, releasing another flame to slow the ghosts' pursuit. "Trust me, everyone, hold on. Someone will come to save us."

Peter Parker caught on but was somewhat skeptical. "You mean your friend? But we ended up in this damn place because of that friend!"

Gwen said, "Trust me, it was just an accident."

Peter Parker, close behind Spider-Ham, asked, "Then when will he come?"

"Should be soon?"

"Why is that a question? Aaaaaah!!"

A few minutes earlier, after Wang Bo sent Gwen and the others off, Hela appeared shortly after.

"I've detected the second fluctuation."

"Yes, I sensed it too." Wang Bo turned his gaze in a certain direction, a strange look in his eyes, because he found that the place where the spatial fluctuation occurred was exactly where Mary Jane was imprisoned.

That was quite unexpected.

Too much of a coincidence.
