Chapter 016: Probing

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第016章 试探

Wang Bo led the group back to the Spider-Man world through the portal. When he touched Mary Jane and Peni Parker, he discreetly infused a stream of true qi into both women.

This stream of true qi would burn away the death qi that had invaded their bodies.

Not only would the two women not fall ill, they would instead be full of energy. However, as the true qi was consumed, this effect would gradually fade. After a few years, they would return to ordinary human levels.

After returning to the Spider-Man world, the group was still inside the building where Mary Jane had been imprisoned.

But aside from Wang Bo and his party, the building was still empty.

When the anomaly first occurred, everyone inside the building had been sent to the underground city, including Kingpin's men left here. However, they were not strong, and lacking Mary Jane's luck, they were directly sent to a hidden room.

Thus, all of them were killed by the undead creatures of the underground city.

Without exception, all perished.

Of course, this was also related to Wang Bo's refusal to help. If Wang Bo had been willing to intervene, these people might have had a chance to survive, but Wang Bo did not act.

The reason was simple: none of these people were good; each of them had several lives on their hands.

No loss if they died.

So Wang Bo let them fend for themselves. If they had been lucky enough to find a hidden room and survive, Wang Bo might have brought them back.

But they were not so fortunate, and had now become part of the underground city.

"We're back. What do you plan to do now?"

Faced with Wang Bo's question, Gwen said without hesitation, "Of course, we'll continue gathering evidence of Kingpin's crimes until we send him to prison."

The others nodded in agreement.

Wang Bo said, "Then you must be careful. Things like today can happen again. Be sure to watch out."

Gwen said softly, "Don't worry."

After this, she would be more cautious in her actions.

Wang Bo smiled with satisfaction and said, "Then you get busy. I won't disturb you."

With that, he took Hela and left, returning to his villa with a whoosh. He plopped down on the sofa, lazily leaning against the backrest, striking a comfortable pose.

As for Hela, Wang Bo ignored her completely.

The Death Goddess's behavior in the underground city had seriously displeased Wang Bo. He was considering whether to send this woman back directly this time.

Hela looked at Wang Bo, her eyes flickering several times, but she said nothing. Inwardly, she was calculating. Actually, this time she wasn't being stupid or deliberately going against Wang Bo.

Rather, she was probing Wang Bo's bottom line toward her, testing how much he would tolerate, and gauging his attitude toward her.

Only by knowing these things could she have a better chance in the future.

And this time, Hela had already probed Wang Bo's attitude toward her, and she was quite satisfied, because she found that Wang Bo's tolerance for her was quite high.

Putting herself in his shoes, if one of her subordinates had done such a thing, Hela would have abandoned him immediately.

Even if he could come back, Hela would have killed him directly.

The mere act of disobeying orders alone exceeded Hela's bottom line.

But Wang Bo did not do so, proving that he was not a qualified superior. Working under such a person, Hela felt she had many things she could slowly manipulate.

But for now, she should say an apology.

Just as Hela was about to speak, she saw Wang Bo wave his hand and say, "Go monitor the spatial fluctuations."

He no longer wanted to look at Hela.

Hela nodded and went back to monitoring the spatial fluctuations.

Wang Bo let out a breath, planning to rest well. This time, Hela did not disturb him again, and Wang Bo was able to relax comfortably.

On the other hand, after rescuing Mary Jane, Gwen and her group took a short rest and then sprang into action again.

Their goal was to defeat Kingpin and send him to prison.

So they couldn't stop now.

Moreover, Kingpin was still repairing the Super Collider. Who knew when he would start it again? Time was tight, and there was no extra time to rest.

The group devised a detailed plan to crush Kingpin in one fell swoop.

But Kingpin was no fool. He knew the Spider-People would come to cause trouble, so he simply set a trap to catch them all.

As for the outcome, it would depend on which side had the upper hand.

But these were not Wang Bo's concern. He believed that with Gwen's strength, she could defeat Kingpin.

What he cared about was when the spatial fluctuations would appear.

Several days had passed since the last spatial fluctuation, but none had occurred, which puzzled Wang Bo.

"How many rifts are there in this world?" he couldn't help asking his cheat.

[Quite a few, at least a dozen.]

"That many."

[Mainly because the Spider-Man world was severely damaged this time, making repairs troublesome.]

"Alright, I understand."

Wang Bo nodded solemnly.

Just then, Hela walked back and said to Wang Bo, "Spatial fluctuations have appeared."

"What?" Wang Bo's eyes flew open, and he jumped up from the sofa. "Where?"

Hela said, "London, San Francisco, and Tokyo."

Wang Bo was taken aback, then realized, "You mean spatial fluctuations have appeared in three places."

"Yes." Hela nodded.

Wang Bo clicked his tongue. This was very troublesome. He hadn't expected three spatial fluctuations to appear at once. Which to rescue first and which later was crucial.

But now was not the time to hesitate. Wang Bo said directly, "I'll go to San Francisco. You go to Tokyo."

Without waiting for Hela to object, he sent her to Tokyo and then went to San Francisco himself.

As soon as Wang Bo arrived in San Francisco, he sensed the spatial fluctuation.

The spatial fluctuation occurred on the coast of San Francisco. Wang Bo teleported there and saw a group of monsters emerging from the sea, charging toward the shore.

The monsters' bodies were a dull green, though their bellies were white. Most of their bodies were smooth and slippery, but they had high, scaly ridges on their backs.

Their forms had vague human features, but their heads were fish-like, with huge, protruding eyes that never closed. On the sides of their necks were constantly quivering gills, and their long hands and feet were webbed.

They leaped forward in a disorderly manner, sometimes on their hind legs, sometimes on all fours. Just one look was enough to make one feel nauseated—a pure psychological and physiological discomfort.
