Chapter 023: Fierce Battle

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第023章 激斗

Seeing that the Golden Man wanted to talk him to death at the first word, Wang Bo hesitated no longer and gave him no second chance. He directly donned the Sun God's Divine Robe and held Gungnir in his hand.

At the same time, he summoned his Stand, armed to the teeth.

The Golden Man was not to be feared, but the divine artifact in his hand was too eerie. Wang Bo dared not take it lightly and could only go all out.

With the divine robe on, Wang Bo instantly rose from the peak of the Seventh Sense to the peak of the Eighth Sense. With Gungnir in hand, he felt a great sense of security.

"You must die to atone!"

The next second, when the Golden Man opened his mouth again to kill Wang Bo, Wang Bo keenly sensed an invisible force trying to erase his life force.

When his Cosmo was only at the Seventh Sense, Wang Bo could not detect this.

But when his Cosmo rose to the Eighth Sense, Wang Bo achieved unity of heaven and man, as if grasping all things in the world. He detected this force, and the moment it surged into his body, his Cosmo erupted in turmoil.

At the same time, the Solar True Qi circulated, countering this force.

Combined, the two forces annihilated the invisible mysterious power.

The Golden Man stared at Wang Bo in astonishment, never expecting his power to fail.

"You must die to atone!!" He tried again, refusing to believe it.

Wang Bo roared, "Atone for your father!"

The next second, he swung Gungnir in his hand, aimed at the Golden Man's chest, and hurled it fiercely.

The moment Gungnir left Wang Bo's right hand, it shot toward the Golden Man like a meteor.

The crisis of death flooded over the Golden Man like a tide.

Sensing death approaching, the Golden Man could no longer sit still. He suddenly stood up, roared, and a golden shield appeared before him, blocking Gungnir's attack.

A crisp clang rang out. Gungnir shattered the golden shield but was also repelled by its power. Wang Bo raised his hand, and Gungnir flew back into his grasp.

The Golden Man stepped forward, and the golden shield flew into his left hand.

With his second step, a scepter fell into his right hand.

Then, with each step he took, a piece of golden armor donned his body: first the breastplate, then the tassets, gauntlets, greaves, boots, helmet, and finally the cape.

When the Golden Man stood before Wang Bo, holding a scepter and shield, clad in majestic armor, he looked like a god of war stepping out of myth.

Wang Bo could see that every piece of his attire was a weapon forged by gods.

Like Wang Bo, he too was armed to the teeth.

"Let's begin."

Without another word, Wang Bo swung Gungnir and charged at the Golden Man, his Stand following like a shadow, attacking from front and back.

The Golden Man was not to be outdone. He blocked Wang Bo's Gungnir with his scepter and withstood the Stand's fist with his shield.

In an instant, the two were locked in combat.

After only a few exchanges, Wang Bo realized that the Golden Man was a skilled and experienced fighter. Every move he made was methodical, suggesting some formidable martial art.

Wang Bo could not gain the upper hand for the time being.

Do not think that gods are ignorant of combat techniques. In fact, gods are no less skilled than any human, and far surpass them.

For instance, Jacob's hand-to-hand combat was a very formidable martial art.

Jacob, a figure recorded in the Old Testament's Book of Genesis, was the grandson of Abraham, son of Isaac, and the ancestor of the twelve tribes of Israel. One story about him is still widely discussed: his wrestling with the divine messenger.

He rose that night, took his two wives, two maidservants, and eleven sons, and crossed the ford of Jabbok.

He sent them across the stream, and everything else he had, until only Jacob was left.

Then a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip, and Jacob's hip was wrenched as he wrestled.

The man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak."

But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered.

Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome."

Jacob said, "Please tell me your name."

But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there.

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."

It should also be noted that Jacob's wrestling with the angel was not literal wrestling but a comprehensive contest including striking and ground techniques.

Thus it can be seen that angels also know combat techniques.

Eastern gods are proficient in moves and combat, and Western gods are equally skilled, no less so.

The Golden Man before him was a good example. Wang Bo had learned various martial arts, such as the Nine Yang Five Ultimates, the Buddha's Palm, and the Invisible Sword Qi.

But the Golden Man, with his excellent combat skills, deflected Wang Bo's attacks one by one.

His steps were steady, never faltering.

Wang Bo had to admire the Golden Man; he must be a battle-hardened warrior. It was a pity he refused to listen.

The Golden Man was also quite astonished. Though a demigod, he was extremely powerful in combat. In terms of pure skill, even among gods, few could defeat him.

Clad in this armor forged by gods, unless facing a main god-level opponent, ordinary gods were no match for him.

Especially since he could harness the power of the pyramid, giving him a great advantage within it.

Yet even so, he could not kill this man, and the battle had reached a stalemate, which he found incredible.

Where had such a valiant warrior come from? Could he be a new figure who emerged while he slept?

At this thought, the Golden Man felt a hint of admiration for talent.

Perhaps such an extraordinary figure should not die by his hand.

Using a clever maneuver, he pushed Wang Bo back and said slowly, "You disturbed my slumber today, and I should have killed you. But seeing that you are also a battle-hardened warrior, I am willing to give you a chance. You may leave here, but when your end draws near, you may return to my temple and slumber with me."

"If I ever have the chance to see the light of day again, I can bring you back to the world. I wonder if you are willing to agree."
