Chapter 1113: Hooked
Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第1113章 上钩了
Even between intimate lovers, a little bit of fun is necessary. After all, whether man or woman, if all they do is chat when together, over time it becomes like touching left hand with right—utterly numb.
For Zhao Fusheng, when Fan Baobao occasionally acted coy or threw a little tantrum, he naturally enjoyed it. After all, men like that kind of woman.
Though queenly, mature women might catch the eye, except for certain masochists, no one likes their woman to be as fierce as a tigress all day.
The kind of rhetoric Mimeng preached—the women it raised were basically doomed to be alone, destined to be dumped in no time.
Things like 'You earn the money to support the family, I'll be pretty and charming,' or 'If a woman doesn't spend money, should she leave it for her husband's mistress?' Sometimes I really admire those self-media editors; their heads are full of nonsense, aren't they?
Life is already exhausting enough, and on top of that, having to deal with women brainwashed by certain idiotic media and their idiotic articles—Zhao Fusheng sometimes felt that being a man was just too damn hard.
Fortunately, Fan Baobao wasn't that kind of person.
"Old Jiang and Ge Yeye—I suddenly feel this movie is going to be really interesting." Fan Baobao nestled in Zhao Fusheng's arms, tracing circles on his chest with her finger, grinning.
Zhao Fusheng had just told her which actors he planned to invite for the film.
Not to mention others, just the lineup of bald Oscar winner Ge Yeye and Jiang Wen alone would be enough to draw many people to the cinema, let alone the comedy actors Zhao Fusheng had in mind.
In Fan Baobao's view, once this film started shooting, it was bound to cause a sensation.
"You're the first to know the plot." Zhao Fusheng smiled at Fan Baobao. "Remember to keep it secret."
"Really?"
Hearing this, Fan Baobao suddenly sat up straight, looking at Zhao Fusheng in surprise. "You didn't tell Old Jiang?"
Zhao Fusheng nodded. "I was going to, but then we got sidetracked talking about something else, so I didn't. And later, as you know, he was busy filming."
The expression on Fan Baobao's face became quite vivid; her eyes seemed to sparkle as she gazed at Zhao Fusheng with deep affection and gave a charming smile.
Zhao Fusheng was taken aback and touched his nose. "What's up with you?"
Fan Baobao didn't say a word, just silently hugged Zhao Fusheng, her face full of smiles, looking incredibly happy.
At her strange behavior, Zhao Fusheng felt helpless and simply let her be.
……
……
While Zhao Fusheng and Fan Baobao were tangled up at home, Tong Zhenbang stood in the hospital, his face dark.
He had come here with Chen Shijie after Zhao Fusheng and Zhang Qian left the hotel. He initially thought Xiao Bao had only dislocated his shoulder, but when they arrived, the doctor told him Xiao Bao's arm was fractured and would need at least three months to recover.
"From the looks of it, this injury was caused by a blow." The doctor held up the X-ray and said to Tong Zhenbang, "We advise the patient to avoid any strenuous activity for now and rest as much as possible."
Tong Zhenbang nodded. "Will there be any aftereffects?"
"No." The doctor shook his head and explained, "Whoever did this held back; otherwise, it wouldn't have been just a simple fracture."
Clearly, the person was a professional, as explained from a medical perspective.
After seeing the doctor out, Tong Zhenbang looked at Xiao Bao. "So, are you convinced now?"
Xiao Bao's expression was conflicted. After a long silence, he nodded gloomily. "Neither of us could beat him. That guy... he's killed before."
Hearing this, Tong Zhenbang waved his hand, looking indifferent. "A-Jie already told me. I figure that guy must be a veteran."
"A veteran?"
Xiao Bao was startled. He wasn't from the mainland but from Taiwan. To be honest, he had never thought much of mainland veterans. After all, in this day and age, you couldn't make your way in the world with just fist and foot skills. In Xiao Bao's eyes, many of those mainland soldiers were just for show.
But he never expected that this time, he would end up defeated by a veteran.
"He must have come from some special forces unit. Don't forget, that Zhao guy is worth hundreds of millions now; it's only natural for him to hire someone like that." Tong Zhenbang waved his hand. "This time I was reckless. I shouldn't have sent you and A-Jie to test him; we only ended up humiliating ourselves."
"Boss, I'm fine. I can still handle it." Xiao Bao struggled to sit up. In truth, it wasn't just a fractured arm. If Zhang Qian wanted to incapacitate him, he wouldn't have only attacked his arm.
According to the doctor's examination, Xiao Bao even had a mild concussion, likely from being thrown to the ground.
"What are you trying to prove?" Tong Zhenbang glared at him. "I told you to test his bodyguard, but you had to go and curse him out and push him too far. If A-Jie hadn't saved you, I think he would have beaten you to death."
Xiao Bao smiled bitterly and nodded. "Boss, I know. It's my fault. I didn't expect that when he heard me curse his parents, he'd change like a different person. If A-Jie hadn't risked his life to block that kick, I'd probably be half dead by now."
Tong Zhenbang was a bit surprised by this. He had only said that out of anger, but now, according to Xiao Bao, it turned out he had hit the mark.
"What's the deal? Is that guy really that tough?" Tong Zhenbang asked curiously.
Chen Shijie spoke up from the side. "If it came down to a fight to the death, A-Bao and I probably wouldn't last a minute against him."
Xiao Bao opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he stayed silent.
Clearly, even though he didn't want to admit it, the facts were plain: the two of them together had been beaten to a pulp. If the guy had gone all out, they might really have been dead.
"Anyway, let's just drop this."
Feeling quite irritated by the two bodyguards, Tong Zhenbang waved his hand. "A-Bao, you stay here and recover. A-Jie, you come with me. I have some business to take care of."
Chen Shijie stood behind Tong Zhenbang, his heart stirring. He nodded without a word.
But inwardly, he was quite pleased. It seemed that what he had asked Zhang Qian to do had indeed worked. He knew that in the past, Tong Zhenbang always had Xiao Bao accompany him on such matters. This time, Tong Zhenbang had no choice but to take him.
Leaving the hospital, Tong Zhenbang got into the car with Chen Shijie. Chen Shijie drove, and Tong Zhenbang sat in the back, saying to him, "A-Jie, head to Chaoyang Guild Hall."
Chaoyang Guild Hall?
Chen Shijie was startled. Instinct told him that perhaps from this point on, he would truly begin to touch the inner workings of the entire group...
