Chapter 0119: The Innocent Young Man

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0119章 纯情少男

"Hey, hey, hey, what are you thinking about?"

Seeing Zhao Fusheng staring blankly without speaking, Wang Zhen bumped his shoulder and asked in a low voice.

"Heh, nothing, nothing." Zhao Fusheng snapped back to reality, shook his head, and walked to his seat to sit down.

Hu Xia was sitting with her roommates today; the four of them in the dorm were rarely all together.

"Hey, Old Wang, you're not really worse than a beast, are you?"

While the professor was lecturing on stage, Tan Kaixuan couldn't help but whisper to Wang Zhen. He found it hard to imagine that Wang Zhen had actually been a gentleman all night.

"Get lost. This is what I call deep love." Wang Zhen said with disdain, "I can't reason with someone like you who only thinks with his lower half, a guy whose brain is full of sperm."

Tan Kaixuan was choked by his words and couldn't speak for a long time. There was no helping it; since Wang Zhen put on the air of a lover, Tan Kaixuan had to admit defeat. After all, how many people dared to confess their love while jumping off a building like Wang Zhen did?

The most crucial thing was that Wang Zhen completely misunderstood his meaning, giving Tan Kaixuan the feeling of "I pour my heart to the bright moon, but the bright moon is a damn fool."

"Actually, I kind of envy ancient people..." Wang Zhen smiled and said to Zhao Fusheng, "They say that in the old days, time was slow, carriages were slow, sending letters was slow, and a lifetime was only enough to love one person..."

Before he could finish, Tan Kaixuan couldn't stand his sourness anymore and blurted out, "That kind of thing in ancient times was a joke, okay? Back then, brothels were legal, and taking concubines was casual. So-called 'loving only one person in a lifetime' is total nonsense. You, my friend, have just read too many romance novels..."

Wang Zhen's affectionate demeanor instantly shattered, and he felt terrible.

Tan Kaixuan laughed unkindly and was about to continue when Zhao Fusheng spoke up: "Kaixuan is right. When it comes to feelings, they seem beautiful, but in reality, we often have an illusion. After spending a few days together, we think we like someone; after dating for a few months, we consider being together forever; even if someone smiles at us, we get all excited. To put it bluntly, that's just being thick-headed, not using your brain to think. There's no banquet that doesn't end. No matter who it is, sometimes when we're not paying attention, the people around us, as we walk, just drift apart."

Everyone fell silent. Even a few girls in the front row, upon hearing Zhao Fusheng's words, looked at him with some surprise, clearly not expecting him to say such things.

Zhao Fusheng was quite calm. This was his own experience. Young people nowadays always like to wallow in sentimentality or put on an affectionate front, little knowing that times are changing. What truly determines whether you can have a beautiful love is not just spirit, but also material things.

Falling in love, after all, costs money.

So most young people's so-called adolescent troubles are not the kind of cringey sentimentality seen in movies and TV shows. To put it in two words: no money.

In one word: poor.

Who are truly respectable people? Those who, after recognizing what the world we live in is really like, still choose to strive for it and love this world.

Those who, along the way, strive to hold on to themselves, not be changed by this world, and work hard to make the world a better place.

Never those so-called superiors who, high above, destroy others' homes because of a single fire.

No one cherishes the good life now more than Zhao Fusheng, because he knows how hard-won his current happiness is.

Until class ended, no one brought up Wang Zhen and Dong Chenxi's matter again. Perhaps it was because of Zhao Fusheng's words, or perhaps because everyone was thinking about themselves.

After class, Wang Zhen didn't go back to the rented house but returned to the dorm. Dong Chenxi was busy helping at Future Advertising during the day, so he would be alone there anyway. The website didn't require someone to sit in front of the computer and server all day, so he had plenty of time.

Tan Kaixuan had disappeared, apparently off to hang out with Hu Xia.

The three of them, Zhao Fusheng, returned to the dorm together. Lying in bed, Wang Zhen suddenly said, "Do you think Chenxi likes me for who I am, or because I saved her that day?"

Wen Yu and Zhao Fusheng looked at each other, puzzled as to why he suddenly asked this.

"I just feel like I'm not good enough for her..." Wang Zhen was silent for a long time before slowly saying.

Clearly, this had been weighing on his mind for a while, or he wouldn't have brought it up with Zhao Fusheng and Wen Yu. Probably only his dorm brothers could make him speak his mind.

Wen Yu didn't say anything because he didn't have a girlfriend and didn't know how to advise Wang Zhen on such a topic. Zhao Fusheng, however, pondered for a moment and then laughed.

"What are you laughing at?" Wang Zhen was a bit surprised and looked at Zhao Fusheng in astonishment.

Zhao Fusheng shrugged: "I'm laughing because you, my friend, are just too boring."

"Huh?" This time, not only Wang Zhen but even Wen Yu looked bewildered.

"Who can really say who is worthy of whom in matters of the heart?" Zhao Fusheng said calmly. "Think about it: if you didn't care about her, would you have stood up for her, gone to the rooftop to find her, and jumped with her? What would have happened to her? In other words, if it weren't for you, do you think I would have let her be my assistant? Do you really think Future Advertising couldn't find an assistant for me?"

Wang Zhen was silent. He hadn't thought about this issue before. After all, from an appearance perspective, he and Dong Chenxi really didn't match.

The story of Beauty and the Beast is mostly regarded as a fairy tale. People think the love stories in fairy tales are beautiful, but if a fairy tale were to become reality, how many people would find it beautiful?

"No need to feel inferior. Trust me, time will test everything." Zhao Fusheng said calmly.

Wang Zhen nodded, looking normal, not shaken. His tone was gentle but firm: "I understand. Don't worry."

"That's right. There are thousands of beautiful women in the world. If it doesn't work out, just switch." Wen Yu finally dared to speak, grinning at Wang Zhen.

Wang Zhen rolled his eyes, indicating he couldn't be bothered with him.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and changed the subject, asking about the new students in the college. Wen Yu, who spent all his time in the student union, knew the freshmen well. When Zhao Fusheng asked, he immediately listed a few famous beauties from the freshman class.

Hearing these names, Zhao Fusheng frowned and thought for a moment, then was startled to realize he had never heard of any of them.

This was awkward as hell.

He had thought he might know or recognize them, but Zhao Fusheng had to sadly admit that perhaps because it was too long ago and he didn't remember clearly, or because they weren't from his year so he wasn't familiar, or because history had changed. In any case, he could be sure that he didn't know this batch of freshmen.

"Well, that saves me a lot of entanglements." Zhao Fusheng shook his head and smiled faintly.
