Chapter 0126: Evaluation
Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0126章 评价
Zhao Fusheng and Mu Qingqing looked up toward the door and saw five or six people entering, led by Mu Qingwan and another woman, followed by several men of varying ages, all apparently from Qingcheng Culture.
“Aunt?”
Mu Qingqing was startled, clearly not expecting Mu Qingwan to appear.
Originally, when she had discussed this matter with Mu Qingwan, she had only mentioned letting Zhao Fusheng listen to the song, nothing else. Mu Qingwan had agreed, but she never expected her aunt to come in person.
Among those following Mu Qingwan, aside from the woman, there were three others. One wore a leather jacket and sunglasses, while the other two looked quite ordinary.
What truly caught Zhao Fusheng’s attention was the woman standing beside Mu Qingwan.
She wore a simple dress without stockings, revealing her fair legs at a glance, black high heels, gold-rimmed glasses, and her hair was tied up high.
“Qingqing, is this the genius composer you mentioned?” The woman spoke slowly, her gaze fixed on Zhao Fusheng. “I am He Yunzhi. Nice to meet you.”
In terms of appearance, the woman before him was naturally inferior to Mu Qingqing or Mu Qingwan, not even stunning enough to leave one speechless, but Zhao Fusheng felt she possessed a certain aura that commanded attention.
Zhao Fusheng had always believed that women attract men in two ways: one, by simply standing there, relying on figure and appearance to captivate, like Mu Qingqing; the other, like He Yunzhi before him, relying on her temperament and demeanor to stir a deep desire in men to conquer her.
Unlike Mu Qingwan’s coolness, He Yunzhi exuded an intellectual beauty. Perhaps her looks were not outstanding, and standing beside the cool and elegant Mu Qingwan, she fell slightly short, but the curves beneath her dress revealed her ample assets, and with a hint of fair skin showing, a distinct mature charm emanated from her.
“I am Zhao Fusheng. Hello, Miss He.” Zhao Fusheng remained calm, seemingly unswayed by the woman before him.
He Yunzhi gave Zhao Fusheng a meaningful glance, smiled, and gestured to the people behind her. “This is Li Jian, a singer our company is heavily promoting; this is his agent Dafei; and this is Teacher Zhou Yuandong, the composer of your song.”
“I heard Qingqing brought you here, so we came by to take a look.”
A faint smile always lingered on He Yunzhi’s face as she patiently introduced everyone to Zhao Fusheng.
Mu Qingqing was momentarily stunned, her gaze shifting to her aunt Mu Qingwan, only to find her silent and expressionless. Zhao Fusheng frowned slightly, his eyes sweeping over Mu Qingqing and He Yunzhi, and he sighed softly to himself.
“It’s quite good,” Zhao Fusheng said calmly. “Teacher Zhou’s composition is fine.”
He could vaguely sense the undercurrents between He Yunzhi and Mu Qingwan, but it had nothing to do with him. Zhao Fusheng didn’t want to get involved; he was just passing through and had no intention of becoming a tool in someone’s hands.
“Is that so? I heard that Teacher Zhao wasn’t satisfied with this piece,” Zhou Yuandong said with a half-smile, looking at Zhao Fusheng slowly.
In this circle, he was hardly a big shot; at best, he had been around for a few more years. The open strife and mutual suspicion between the two bosses upstairs had nothing to do with him. Zhou Yuandong's heart belonged only to music.
Zhao Fusheng sighed and shook his head. "Teacher Zhou, don't misunderstand. I didn't mean that."
"Don't be modest, Little Teacher Zhao. Qingwan was willing to give your work to Li Jian as the lead single, which shows your talent. If you have any ideas, speak up and let us hear them." He Yunzhi smiled lightly, her eyes appearing sincere.
Glancing at Mu Qingwan, who remained silent, Zhao Fusheng said calmly, "I wrote this song when I was bored. Manager Mu thought it was decent and bought it. Perhaps she felt I wasn't suited for composing, after all, I'm not a professional—I don't even know how to read staff notation."
Since He Yunzhi wanted to play, he would play along.
Zhao Fusheng had never been the kind of naive goody-goody. If he still couldn't see through things by now, then all his years in the workplace would have been wasted.
Although he had no particular fondness for Mu Qingwan either, Zhao Fusheng absolutely hated being treated like an idiot.
"What?"
"Doesn't know staff notation?"
Almost everyone was stunned. Even Li Jian, who had remained silent as the singer, was taken aback, never expecting to hear such an answer from Zhao Fusheng.
Zhou Yuandong was startled for a moment, then laughed and shook his head. "I see. Then forget it. Since Little Teacher Zhao isn't a professional, there's nothing more to say."
He paused, looking at Zhao Fusheng meaningfully. "But since you're not a professional, don't make rash judgments. Young people should be more modest."
Zhao Fusheng frowned. If it weren't for that last remark, he might have kept quiet. But Zhou Yuandong's words irritated him.
He was the type of person who returned respect twofold. If Zhou Yuandong had spoken politely, Zhao Fusheng wouldn't have known how to respond—after all, by any measure, the other man was a professional and a senior, while he himself was only here thanks to the foreknowledge gained from his rebirth.
But Zhou Yuandong had put on the airs of lecturing a junior, and He Yunzhi was fanning the flames with an aloof demeanor, which instantly kindled a fire in Zhao Fusheng's heart.
Giving Zhou Yuandong a cold look, Zhao Fusheng said flatly, "What I wanted to convey in this song was a sentiment toward the older generation. But what did the arrangement show me? A transition so vulgar, a section meant to elevate the piece that wasn't marked clearly in the arrangement at all. A song that could have been a classic was turned into a pop tune by you. And now you have the nerve to ask me what I think? Manager Mu, I'll refund you the five thousand yuan, and you give me back the song. How about that?"
Everyone was astonished. At the beginning, Zhao Fusheng had been very polite and composed—how had he changed so suddenly?
Mu Qingqing was especially surprised, because she could clearly feel that Zhao Fusheng's last words were not a joke. He was serious.
In other words, if Mu Qingwan agreed, Zhao Fusheng would really buy back the copyright of that song from his aunt.
This guy was genuinely angry!
