Chapter 1519 The Future

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第1519章 未来

"What do you think the future direction of the domestic film market will be?"

Zhao Fusheng suddenly asked the people around him as they walked.

Direction?

The group exchanged glances. Wang Qiang was fine; he had no ambitions in that area, just wanting to be a good actor. Huang Bo hadn't thought that far ahead either; he was just starting to become famous and was mostly focused on choosing roles.

Xu Zheng and Ning Hao, on the other hand, had more to say about Zhao Fusheng's question—one was already a director, and the other was striving to become one.

"To be honest, I think our country's film market still has great potential for development," Ning Hao said slowly. "We just lack an opportunity."

"Yeah, our market is already showing signs of improvement. I think maybe it won't be long before a box office of over a hundred million yuan is no longer news."

Xu Zheng nodded in agreement.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and gave them a meaningful look.

It had to be said that these two would achieve success in the future for a reason.

At the very least, even now, they already had expectations for the future prosperity of the domestic film market, which put them ahead of most people.

"Chairman, do you also have faith in the domestic film market?" Xu Zheng couldn't help asking, seeing that Zhao Fusheng hadn't spoken.

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "Yes, although our market seems small now, in fact, with the development of the domestic economy, the prosperity of the film market is an inevitable outcome."

He paused and said bluntly: "The decline of Hong Kong and Taiwan cinema is an irreversible conclusion. In the future, the glory of Chinese-language films will ultimately depend on us on the mainland."

What he said was the truth.

Zhao Fusheng remembered reading an article that by 2015, China's domestic film box office would exceed 45 billion yuan, and the cultural industry would break 100 billion.

But along with that came the big sales of films like 'Tiny Times,' where abortion and catfights became the themes of youth, and vanity and materialism became selling points promoted in movies. Occasionally, a few good films would appear as rare flashes of humanity.

But it had to be admitted that as the film market continued to improve, the mentality of creators became more and more restless, even to the point where a film that claimed to have earned tens of millions in previews might end up with a shockingly low reputation upon public release.

Or when competing for the Oscars, they would submit a film like 'Go Away Mr. Tumor' as the representative, and even argue that it was well-deserved. One wonders if the many film critics felt any shame.

Zhao Fusheng really didn't want to see the scene he had witnessed before repeat itself.

"Yes, this is our opportunity!" Ning Hao said with confidence.

Having experienced the success of 'Crazy Stone,' he was now very confident about future development.

After all, a blockbuster had proven that his approach was correct.

Although black humor might be somewhat cruel, Ning Hao felt that even if it was niche, there would still be people who appreciated it.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and said to Ning Hao: "The path you're taking now still has a lot of potential. In the future, domestic comedy films will surely be loved by audiences."

"Why?"

Xu Zheng asked curiously, clearly not quite understanding Zhao Fusheng's words.

Zhao Fusheng said: "Because no matter who they are, the purpose of going into a cinema is to make themselves happy. Even someone in a bad mood will relax if they watch a comedy."

This was the truth. The goal of a film is to satisfy the audience, and what pleases them most is undoubtedly comedy.

China is different from South Korea. In a small country with a small population, realistic films that expose darkness often resonate with audiences.

But China is too big. As the saying goes, in a big forest, there are all kinds of birds.

Simply put, Chinese audiences have too diverse tastes; whether it's a comedy or a drama, they can always find a genre they like.

As long as the film's content is good, the audience will like it.

"But I still think we should make something realistic." Xu Zheng hesitated, then said to Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng was taken aback, then laughed: "Then wait until you've made a name for yourself, and then make it."

"Will you invest in me then?" Xu Zheng actually asked Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "When the time comes, as long as you need it, I'll definitely invest."

Although he didn't know if "Drug God" would appear as it did in the original history, Zhao Fusheng felt he should give Xu Zheng opportunities and encouragement.

Maybe this guy would really surprise him.

They walked for a while, with Zhao Fusheng doing most of the talking while Ning Hao and the others listened; occasionally he would ask them about their future plans.

Of course, except for Wang Qiang, everyone else's answers were more or less the same.

Zhao Fusheng understood that facing him, even if they had thoughts in their minds, they wouldn't easily reveal them.

That was probably the natural opposition between boss and employee.

The area near the Beijing Film Studio was large, and Zhao Fusheng and his group strolling around didn't attract much attention.

The reason was simple: even if Huang Bo and Xu Zheng were somewhat famous, remember, this was the Beijing Film Studio, where there were plenty of stars. When they appeared, although some people noticed, they assumed it was for filming, so it didn't cause a stir.

Of course, this was also related to the fact that the two weren't very famous yet; if it were a dozen years later, the appearance of either one alone would have caused a sensation.

After chatting a bit more, Ning Hao and the others had things to do and took their leave, leaving only Zhao Fusheng, Wang Qiang, and Hu Donghai.

The bodyguards scattered in the distance, secretly observing the surroundings.

"Curious?"

Zhao Fusheng glanced at Wang Qiang and asked with a smile.

Wang Qiang shook his head: "I'm not curious."

"Why?"

Zhao Fusheng was a bit surprised.

"Anyway, you won't harm me." Wang Qiang grinned and said to Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng smiled, and upon reflection, Wang Qiang's honest thinking was indeed correct.

"Alright, if you're not curious, then so be it." Zhao Fusheng waved his hand. He had originally planned to tell Wang Qiang about his future plans, but now it seemed the guy wasn't interested.

Or rather, in Wang Qiang's view, he didn't need to think too much; as long as he stayed with Future Film, he would eventually reap the benefits.

Zhao Fusheng didn't know if Wang Qiang had become famous in his previous life in such a muddled way, but he felt that "a man of great wisdom often appears slow" described this guy.

At the very least, at his age, he himself hadn't had such thoughts.

"Bro, I'm off now." After a while, Wang Qiang received a call saying there was an event and he needed to go.

"Alright, go ahead."

Zhao Fusheng waved his hand to Wang Qiang.

Wang Qiang left, and Zhao Fusheng shook his head, then got into the car and drove away.
