Chapter 0173: Childhood Sweetheart

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0173章 青梅

Stories of childhood sweethearts always pique people's curiosity, especially in a place like university.

Though Wen Yu was reluctant to speak, under the pressure of Wang Zhen and Tan Kaixuan, he finally revealed the girl's name.

Her name was Han Meimei, a freshman majoring in advertising design. In other words, she was their junior.

"Old Wen, you're something!" Tan Kaixuan looked at Wen Yu in surprise, as if he hadn't expected the guy to actually land a junior two years younger than him.

Wen Yu gave a wry smile and shook his head. "It's not what you think."

Most couples in love have pasts the other never shared. When she was at her saddest, you might have been riding high; when she was most helpless, you weren't by her side. Now her sorrow is your worry, her joy your happiness—joys and sorrows shared.

Thus, stories of childhood sweethearts are often envied by many.

Wen Yu and Han Meimei could be considered childhood sweethearts. Han Meimei was the younger sister of his good buddy Han Lei. A girl who could make a school uniform look like evening gown in middle school—how beautiful she was went without saying.

"She confessed to me in her first year of high school. I was so awkward," Wen Yu said helplessly.

"And then?" Wang Zhen asked with great interest.

"I'd have to be crazy to say yes, so of course I turned her down." Wen Yu shot Wang Zhen a glare. "I told her then that if she could get into our school, I'd agree."

Even Zhao Fusheng got interested. "And she found you after the semester started?"

Wen Yu nodded. "How was I supposed to know she'd actually get in?"

"Then just say yes. You're single anyway." Wang Zhen grinned. "I've seen her—she's really pretty."

He was the only one present who had met Han Meimei, so he naturally had the most say.

Wen Yu shook his head with a bitter smile. "Say yes my foot. I promised her brother I'd take good care of her. If I end up making her my girlfriend, how do I explain that to him?"

The others exchanged glances and, after a moment's thought, felt he had a point.

"So what's really going on? Why are you still tangled up with her?" Zhao Fusheng asked after a moment. Wang Zhen had just said Wen Yu was pulling and tugging with the girl.

Wen Yu sighed. "Don't even mention it. A few days ago, I ran into a fellow townsman of ours, also her classmate, who said the girl seems to have gone bad. She hangs out with some local girls in her class, goes online all the time, and even mixes with punks near the school. She's only been in college a month—how did she end up like this?"

They looked at each other, at a loss for words.

After all, if what Wen Yu said was true, he was good friends with Han Meimei's brother, she had confessed to him, and now she was falling into bad habits. He really had an obligation to step in.

"Damn, if what you say is true, maybe she went bad because you rejected her," Tan Kaixuan blurted out after a long silence.

Wen Yu smiled bitterly but said nothing.

No one else spoke. After all, this was a matter of feelings and Wen Yu's personal privacy. Until he asked for help, no one wanted to say too much.

After class, Wen Yu disappeared, presumably to find Han Meimei. Tan Kaixuan and Wang Zhen went back to the dorm, while Zhao Fusheng handed his things to them and left the school on his own.

Arriving at the Future Advertising office, he greeted the receptionist and went straight upstairs.

"Senior, busy?"

Entering the creative department, Zhao Fusheng saw Dong Chenxi directing a few people at work and greeted her with a smile.

"Oh, you busy man, what brings you here?" Dong Chenxi turned around and was startled to see Zhao Fusheng.

Though she had been hired as Zhao Fusheng's assistant, he rarely came to the company, and Zheng Yao usually didn't assign her general ad campaigns. So Dong Chenxi mostly served as Zheng Yao's assistant.

In Zheng Yao's own words, she hadn't expected the girl to be such a good hand at administration.

"Something came up. Are you busy? If not, come help me out," Zhao Fusheng said to Dong Chenxi.

They were familiar, so there was no need for pleasantries.

Dong Chenxi nodded, thought for a moment, and said, "You go ahead. I'll wrap things up here and be right there."

Zhao Fusheng glanced at her, said nothing more, and walked straight to his office.

That's right—Zheng Yao had reserved an office for him in the company.

Qin Wentao also had a similar office, but Zhao Fusheng was an ordinary designer while Qin Wentao was deputy director of the creative department.

That was Zhao Fusheng's idea. He wasn't ready to step into the spotlight yet, so he pushed Qin Wentao forward to handle creative department affairs, setting an example of promoting talent regardless of background.

Soon, Dong Chenxi arrived at Zhao Fusheng's office. Looking at her in a black professional suit, Zhao Fusheng smiled. "How are you settling in at the company?"

Dong Chenxi laughed. "Of course I'm fine. Boss Zheng is nice, and as her assistant, no one dares to make trouble for me. Qin Wentao, though a bit of a flirt, is still polite to me."

"What's going on?" Zhao Fusheng frowned. He hadn't expected Qin Wentao to cause trouble in the company.

"Haha, don't misunderstand. He just likes to joke around. After all, our company has a lot of students, and many interns were recruited by him," Dong Chenxi waved her hand, explaining to Zhao Fusheng.

She had only mentioned it casually, not expecting Zhao Fusheng to take it so seriously.

Zhao Fusheng shook his head. "The company is the company, school is school. They can't be mixed up. Tell Boss Zheng about this later and have her give him a warning."

Dong Chenxi nodded with a smile, then looked at Zhao Fusheng. "So, you mysterious designer, are you finally going to work?"

She naturally knew Zhao Fusheng's identity and that, as the company's top ad planner, since he had taken on the Aipu phone campaign, he would personally handle it.

Zhao Fusheng laughed. "What, nervous about working with me for the first time?"

Dong Chenxi actually nodded and said seriously, "Honestly, I've always heard Boss Zheng say you're a genius in ad planning. I'm really curious how you work."

With a calm expression, Zhao Fusheng glanced at Dong Chenxi. "Trust me, you'll find out soon enough."

Dong Chenxi had no idea that her days of "suffering" were about to begin...
