Chapter 0346: Different People, Different Aspirations

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0346章 人各有志

In fact, Zhao Fusheng was now very clear that he was in an awkward position.

A startup capital of over a million—not too little, but not much either. Simply put, a good project required at least a large amount of follow-up investment, and Zhao Fusheng found that none of his current ventures seemed capable of providing any follow-up funding.

Tencent and Shanda were still in their development stages; although they didn't need his capital injection, they hadn't yet reached the point where they could pay him dividends.

As for Future Advertising, General Manager Zheng kept shouting about being broke, wanting him, the major shareholder, to invest money. Expecting her to fork over money to him—that would be harder than getting her to date him.

After much thought, Zhao Fusheng suddenly felt that he was really damn short of money.

"What to do..."

Back at his place, Zhao Fusheng pondered this while maintaining the wo123 website data.

What he lacked now was a good project and the funds to continuously sustain that project. After all, this wasn't simple. Zhao Fusheng knew his own abilities well—he wasn't some all-around talent, and his memory was limited. In his view, there was nothing wrong with taking things step by step.

The millennium was a perplexing era—the best of times and the worst of times.

People belonging to this era were freely splashing the bloom of their youth, while those belonging to the next era were still waiting in the cold wind for spring to arrive.

No one knew what would happen in the next twenty-plus years—whether it was Shenzhou or the Olympics, SARS or earthquakes—all were just a note, a punctuation mark in the face of the vast era.

With over a million in hand, Zhao Fusheng felt ambitious yet somewhat lost, like drawing his sword and looking around in confusion.

At noon, Dong Chenxi returned, carrying a pile of documents—the purchase contract, property deed, and so on—and handed them to Zhao Fusheng, saying, "Here, that's everything."

Zhao Fusheng smiled: "Thanks for the hard work. I'll treat you to a meal later."

"No need. You're the boss. If you're this polite, I can't handle it." Dong Chenxi waved her hand dismissively. "If there's nothing else, I'll head back to Binzhou."

Zhao Fusheng chuckled: "What's this? So eager to go back and help General Manager Zheng?"

Dong Chenxi's eyes flickered slightly, and she nodded: "Yeah, she's too busy over there alone. It's better if I go back earlier."

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "Alright, I won't keep you then. Call me if anything comes up."

Dong Chenxi hummed in acknowledgment and walked toward her room, presumably to pack her things.

Watching her back, Zhao Fusheng shook his head helplessly and sighed.

If it were someone else, Dong Chenxi might have fooled them, but unfortunately, it was him. How could Zhao Fusheng not see that Dong Chenxi was clearly avoiding someone?

Matters of the heart were truly helpless. They could support each other through hardships, but when life got better, they might not be able to hold on.

Or perhaps everyone has their own plans for the future. When two people's ideas clash, one side has to give in.

Love is a process of constant磨合, smoothing out each other's personalities so that both can get used to the other.

As a bystander and friend, Zhao Fusheng wanted to offer some advice. Given his experience, he had seen too much of this. The problem between Wang Zhen and Dong Chenxi wasn't about feelings but about life concepts, or rather, differences in their plans for the future.

It wasn't about who was right or wrong, but it did affect their relationship.

If they communicated well, they could still solve the problem.

But the issue was that Zhao Fusheng didn't know how to bring it up. In such matters, someone would have to bow their head. Dong Chenxi was on the rise in her career, undoubtedly focused on developing further. As for Wang Zhen, he himself had no problem, but he was used to listening to his parents—that was the awkward part.

Family's intentions are certainly for one's own good, but 'for your own good' doesn't necessarily mean it's right.

Wang Zhen still didn't understand this truth, and Zhao Fusheng couldn't say much. If he said too much, people would resent him.

"Just have to let fate decide." Zhao Fusheng sighed, shook his head, and muttered to himself.

"What are you mumbling about?" Dong Chenxi had packed and was leaving when she saw Zhao Fusheng shaking his head and muttering. She asked curiously.

Zhao Fusheng was startled, then smiled awkwardly: "Nothing, nothing. Just thinking about something and rambling."

With that, he said to Dong Chenxi, "Let me treat you to a meal as a farewell."

Dong Chenxi thought for a moment and nodded: "Alright, let's eat."

They walked out together, and Zhao Fusheng helped Dong Chenxi carry her suitcase to a restaurant near the residence.

After ordering, Dong Chenxi went to the restroom, and Zhao Fusheng quickly took out his phone to text Wang Zhen.

"Where are you? Back yet?"

"On the train, almost there. What's up?" Wang Zhen replied quickly.

"Did you know Dong Chenxi is going back to Ninghai?" Zhao Fusheng typed rapidly; he was a fast typer.

Wang Zhen was silent for a long time, then called directly.

Zhao Fusheng stepped out of the restaurant and answered the phone.

"Is she with you?" Wang Zhen asked Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "She came back the day before yesterday. Didn't you know?"

He had always assumed Dong Chenxi had told Wang Zhen.

Wang Zhen laughed bitterly: "I knew, but I didn't expect her to leave so soon."

Hearing this, Zhao Fusheng was momentarily stunned. He hadn't expected that Dong Chenxi was indeed avoiding Wang Zhen.

After hesitating, Zhao Fusheng still asked: "What exactly happened?"

Wang Zhen was silent on the phone for over ten seconds, then finally said, "Well, my parents think that if we don't want to live at home, we should buy a house in Ninghai, register for marriage first, and then have a child..."

Zhao Fusheng blinked, thinking he might be hallucinating. Frowning, he asked, "What did you say?"

Wang Zhen seemed to anticipate Zhao Fusheng's reaction. He sighed helplessly, repeated what he had just said, and finally added, "My parents think that Chenxi and I are still young. Now that the family is better off, she doesn't need to work anymore. She can stay home and take care of the kids and me. After I graduate, I'll find a job or start a business. Wouldn't that be a good life?"

At that moment, Zhao Fusheng felt that he might have truly made a mistake.
