Chapter 0385: Embarrassing

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0385章 丢人了

Zhao Fusheng did not choose to meet the friend surnamed Ye that Yu Feihong mentioned.

There were not many people surnamed Ye in the Beijing circle, only two with known names, but no matter which one, Zhao Fusheng had no intention of getting involved with them.

"Are you really not going to meet him?" Yu Feihong was very surprised after hearing Zhao Fusheng's refusal.

Zhao Fusheng smiled: "No need, I don't plan to get into the entertainment industry either."

He was telling the truth. He had a strong aversion to the entertainment industry, and only had to interact with it due to unavoidable circumstances, but that didn't mean he would step into it.

Especially since the Beijing circle's network was too complicated, and Zhao Fusheng was too lazy to take sides.

This was true. Ye Jing and Wang Shuo grew up together in the General Staff Military Training Compound, as did the Wang brothers.

Feng Dapao and Zhao Baogang, like him, had once been apprentices at the Beijing Television Art Production Center, starting from a very low point. Feng even had to have Wang Shuo declare, "If Xiaogang leaves, I quit," to get into the crew of "I Love My Family."

Their circle, from youth to old age, went through splits and reunions, with intricate interests. Zhao Fusheng was too lazy to talk about it or participate. Although he hadn't heard of Wang Shuo or Feng Dapao in this life, the appearance of Jiang Wen, Yu Feihong, and even the Wang brothers made him realize that this circle still existed.

And the more that was the case, the less Zhao Fusheng intended to join this circle.

"That's the plan. Sister Fei, you can handle the specifics yourself. In short, for our foundation: first, keep a low profile. Second, every member must ensure no negative news; if there is, they must withdraw immediately. Third, if any member faces difficulties, we must help each other." Zhao Fusheng said slowly to Yu Feihong.

Yu Feihong frowned slightly and nodded: "So strict?"

Zhao Fusheng smiled: "The first rule is to prevent people from joining just to hype themselves up under the guise of charity. The second is to protect the foundation's reputation; after all, if someone is exposed for cheating or other negative news, it would harm the foundation. As for the last point, since they've joined the foundation, they're family. Shouldn't we help a good person in trouble?"

Yu Feihong was silent. She felt something was off about what Zhao Fusheng said but couldn't pinpoint it, especially since the concept of a brotherhood wasn't widely known in mainland China at the time.

Zhao Fusheng didn't elaborate further: "Alright, sister, just follow this standard. As for that Mr. Ye, I doubt he really wants to see me."

He had a basis for this. After all, he wasn't a big shot yet, and the other party was merely curious about him.

Small figures had their advantages, like being easily overlooked.

Seeing this, Yu Feihong didn't press further. She watched Zhao Fusheng leave. As he said, his trip to Beijing was just to see her; since she was fine, he had to go back to school.

But this time, Zhao Fusheng didn't take the train; he chose to buy a plane ticket. Though more expensive, he really didn't want to waste time on the road.

He had only stayed in Beijing for less than two days, so he didn't call Fan Baobao to avoid her running out of school to see him.

He didn't even notify Wang Jinghua.

He didn't belong here anyway. It was better to go back to Ninghai and do what he should do. As for Beijing, he had already made the plan and handed it to Yu Feihong; he trusted her.

The plane flew through the white clouds. Zhao Fusheng closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

...

...

After leaving the airport, Zhao Fusheng thought for a moment and said to the taxi driver: "Go to Wanda Commercial Plaza."

Taking the car, he soon arrived at the entrance of Wanda Commercial Plaza. He got out, stood at the door for a few minutes, nodded in satisfaction, and walked in.

Entering the mall office, he ran into Chen Hai.

"Oh, Fusheng is here." Chen Hai smiled when he saw Zhao Fusheng: "What's up, just got back from out of town?"

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "Hello, Uncle Chen. Where's my dad?"

"In the office." Chen Hai patted Zhao Fusheng on the shoulder: "Uncle has things to do, I'm off."

Zhao Fusheng watched Chen Hai leave before turning into his father's office.

In the office, Father Zhao was frowning over a pile of documents. Hearing the door open, he looked up and saw Zhao Fusheng, breaking into a smile: "You little rascal, back pretty fast."

"Nothing much, just stayed there a few days." Zhao Fusheng said to his father.

Then he glanced at the mountain of documents: "Dad, I think you should hire a secretary."

Huh?

Father Zhao was a bit embarrassed, then smiled wryly: "I'd like to, but your mom won't allow it. She says all female secretaries are bad people."

He looked awkwardly at his son: "Do you think I'm that kind of person?"

Zhao Fusheng didn't say anything. As a son, it wasn't appropriate for him to comment. But after a moment, he smiled: "If you can't have a female secretary, hire a male one."

There were plenty of Chinese literature secretaries these days; it wasn't a hard position to recruit.

Father Zhao nodded: "Got it. I'll have HR handle it."

Then he said to Zhao Fusheng: "You just got back. Why aren't you going to school? What are you doing here?"

Zhao Fusheng blinked: "I'm here to help you."

Help?

Father Zhao looked at his son suspiciously and chuckled: "You, help me?"

Zhao Fusheng was quite annoyed by his father's skepticism, but considering he was his own dad, he decided to be magnanimous and not take it to heart. He coughed and said: "Well, I have a plan that can improve Wanda Commercial Plaza's favorability among citizens, and also among the upper class. But it requires spending some money each year..."

Before he could finish, Father Zhao had already lowered his head and started reviewing documents.

"Hey, hey, Dad, listen to me." Zhao Fusheng said helplessly.

He wasn't joking. On the way back, he had thought it over carefully. Wanda had risen too quickly, and his father wasn't someone with deep roots. If something went wrong, they could easily be uprooted.

Given that, they needed a talisman.

The previous military-civilian cooperation had given Zhao Fusheng an idea. He thought Wanda could follow the plan he had given Yu Feihong, systematically donating to families of martyrs and soldiers, which would definitely improve the company's image.

But what Zhao Fusheng didn't expect was that his father didn't want to listen to him at all, which was frustrating.

"Talk? Just say what you have to say quickly, then get lost and go back to school." Father Zhao said irritably.

Although his son had become smarter over the past half year, the problem was that he sometimes liked to be mysterious, which was a bad habit.

Seeing this, Zhao Fusheng had no choice but to tell his father his idea. Finally, he said: "Dad, I think charity can be used as the company's image. It helps those in need and builds a good reputation for our company—a win-win."

After speaking, he looked at his father expectantly, waiting for praise.

Though mentally decades old, in front of his father, Zhao Fusheng was still the child hoping for parental approval after scoring full marks.

Perhaps that's how we all are: no matter what achievements we make, the ones we most want praise from are our parents.

But to Zhao Fusheng's great surprise, Father Zhao just listened quietly, nodded, and said, "Very reasonable," and then nothing more.

No expected surprise, no praise. Zhao Fusheng suddenly felt a bit awkward.

What was going on?

Seeming to notice his son's expression, Father Zhao smiled faintly and said calmly: "I already had someone get the list of all military families in the city from the Armed Forces Department. I had your Uncle Chen lead a team to deliver rice and flour door to door."

Then he gave Zhao Fusheng a look: "You little rascal, you think I can't think of what you can? Don't you know who I am..."

At that moment, Zhao Fusheng felt he shouldn't have come here at all.
