Chapter 0656: Dad's Troubles

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0656章 老爸的麻烦

It's a pleasant thing to trick others, but being tricked is not so pleasant.

Especially for someone like Zhao Fusheng, he always felt that he would end up being played badly.

Even though he wrote the script, he knew better that a guy like Jiang Wen had countless tricks up his sleeve if he wanted to mess with someone during filming.

"Old Jiang, we should coexist peacefully." Zhao Fusheng looked at Jiang Wen, blinking to make himself appear more sincere.

Jiang Wen chuckled, shot Zhao Fusheng a sharp glare, and said calmly, "Dream on."

Clearly, this guy really intended to give Zhao Fusheng an unforgettable memory.

Sighing, Zhao Fusheng couldn't help but lament that he had brought this upon himself. If only he hadn't agreed to Yu Feihong's request back then, he wouldn't be so pitiful now.

"You two, are you childish or what..." Lou Ye looked helplessly at Zhao Fusheng and Jiang Wen.

Obviously, he deeply despised their childish and boring behavior.

Zhao Fusheng thought for a moment, then suddenly smiled at Jiang Wen and said, "Old Jiang, what do you think about having Old Lou cameo in our movie?"

Jiang Wen's eyes lit up, but Lou Ye's expression instantly turned sour.

It had to be said, Zhao Fusheng's proposal was quite intriguing.

Judging by Jiang Wen's eager expression, he was clearly tempted by Zhao Fusheng's suggestion.

Lou Ye glanced at Zhao Fusheng, then at Jiang Wen, and realizing resistance seemed futile, simply nodded: "No problem, just let me know the time and place later."

He neither loved nor hated acting; it was just a cameo. When he first started making films, he had done cameos himself.

"Xiao Xun, are you interested?" Jiang Wen then turned his gaze to Zhou Xun, clearly intending to have her do a cameo too.

"Me?" Zhou Xun was taken aback, then smiled: "I'm fine with it."

That was her personality—she seemed hard to approach but was actually easy to get along with, and she usually didn't refuse favors from friends.

"Alright, I'll contact Old Lou later." Jiang Wen nodded with a grin.

He really wanted to make this film well now, since it was his own initiative. If it turned out badly, it would be Jiang Wen who lost face.

They chatted for a while longer, then Lou Ye and Zhou Xun took their leave, exchanging phone numbers before departing.

"The film is in your hands."

As he left, Lou Ye looked earnestly at Zhao Fusheng and said seriously.

Zhao Fusheng smiled and nodded: "Don't worry, I'll get back to you soon."

Watching Lou Ye and Zhou Xun get into a taxi, Jiang Wen turned to Zhao Fusheng: "Consider this as helping me out."

Zhao Fusheng ignored him, pursed his lips, and said nothing.

Jiang Wen chuckled and punched Zhao Fusheng lightly on the shoulder.

Between friends, some words need not be said; there was no need.

"By the way, take care of our Fan Baobao on set. I need to go back to Ninghai for a few days." Zhao Fusheng suddenly said to Jiang Wen.

Jiang Wen was startled: "What, something up?"

He clearly remembered that Zhao Fusheng had said he planned to stay in Beijing for a few months, but not even a month had passed, and he was already going back.

"No, it's about a friend. I'm going back to check on things." Zhao Fusheng explained but didn't elaborate.

Since he said that, Jiang Wen didn't press further and nodded to agree to Zhao Fusheng's request.

Their friendship was solid; it was just a small favor, so he had no reason to refuse.

……

……

Three days later, Zhao Fusheng flew back to Ninghai.

He first went home to have a meal with his parents. Li Yuan and Fan Beibei weren't home; they had gone to attend a wedding elsewhere.

"Son, your dad has been very secretive lately. I don't know what he's researching." Zhao's mother whispered to Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng frowned. Could his dad have become the kind of man who turns bad when he gets rich?

But on second thought, his father didn't seem like that type at all.

"Mom, don't overthink it. Dad is busy with business now, so he must have a lot of social engagements." Zhao Fusheng said helplessly to his mother.

"No, he's been coming home late several times lately, saying he's in the office when I call." Zhao's mother's expression was conflicted. Clearly, she trusted her husband but was also uneasy about his current behavior.

Zhao Fusheng laughed: "How about this, I'll ask Dad about it later, okay?"

"You said it. Your dad listens to you. Ask him." Zhao's mother nodded. She trusted her precious son.

Zhao Fusheng hummed in agreement, left the house, and after a moment's thought, instead of heading to the school villa or the dormitory with his luggage, he went straight to the mall.

As the saying goes, climbing Mount Tai makes one feel small. In Zhao Fusheng's view, his father had just started out, not even halfway up the mountain—how could he have the right to fool around? Besides, he didn't believe his dad was that kind of person.

As it turned out, Zhao Fusheng was right.

When he walked into his father's office, what he saw was a pale-faced man who looked like he hadn't rested for days.

"Dad, what's wrong with you?"

Startled, Zhao Fusheng blurted out.

Then he noticed that Chen Hai and others were also in the office, all looking equally exhausted.

"Uncle Chen, you all..." Zhao Fusheng wasn't stupid. The people sitting in the office were the comrades who had started the business with his father. Over the past year, their lives had changed dramatically. Though not all had achieved fame and fortune, they had at least become well-off. So why were they all looking so weary now?

Could something have gone wrong?

This ominous thought flashed through his mind, and Zhao Fusheng's tone became more urgent.

Seeing Zhao Fusheng, Chen Hai forced a smile, but it looked worse than crying: "Fusheng is back. Your dad said you went to Beijing for an internship?"

Zhao Fusheng nodded: "Uncle Chen, what's going on?"

At this moment, any false politeness was meaningless. The key was to figure out what had happened.

Hearing Zhao Fusheng's question, Chen Hai sighed, glanced at Zhao's father, then at the other comrades: "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, things wouldn't have come to this."

Zhao Fusheng's brow furrowed tightly. It seemed that his father's company was indeed in trouble!
