Chapter 0729: A Rival in Love?

Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0729章 情敌?

Fan Baobao had no idea that her little schemes had already been seen through by Zhao Fusheng. Seeing that Zhao Fusheng had agreed, she didn't say anything more.

Zhao Fusheng, on the other hand, acted as if nothing was wrong, going about his business as usual, but quietly took out his phone.

A man who walks the world always has a few friends.

Soon, Zhao Fusheng's phone vibrated. He glanced down, and his expression froze for a moment before turning cold.

“I'm going out for a bit.”

Standing up, Zhao Fusheng left the sofa and said to Fan Baobao, who was doing homework in the bedroom.

Fan Baobao nodded, not sensing anything amiss. She had been quite busy these past few days, rehearsing a skit.

But she never expected that after leaving home, Zhao Fusheng would go straight to a cold drink shop near the Central Academy of Drama, where Zhou Yun was waiting for him.

“You came pretty fast.”

Zhou Yun said with a smile as she saw Zhao Fusheng enter.

Zhao Fusheng gave her a speechless look and called the waiter on his own: “A glass of water, please.”

He didn't like cold drinks and had no interest in things like lemonade; most of the time, he just had a glass of water.

“So, tell me, what's going on?” Zhao Fusheng asked Zhou Yun after taking a sip of water.

Zhou Yun laughed: “I rarely see you like this.”

She meant it. Zhao Fusheng had always given people the impression of being particularly steady and mature. Sometimes, being with him felt like he wasn't a young man in his twenties at all, but more like an old man.

The girls in Zhou Yun's dorm would gossip privately, saying that Zhao Fusheng doted on Fan Baobao as if she were his daughter, granting her every wish, like a long-legged uncle. Of course, some thought he was clearly a Léon.

“Concern makes one irrational,” Zhao Fusheng said with a faint smile, not hiding his emotions. Since Zhou Yun was a mutual friend of his and Fan Baobao's, there was no need to keep secrets.

“I understand. If it were me, I'd be the same,” Zhou Yun nodded.

Then she asked curiously, “But I'm curious, how did you guess that Baobao has been in trouble lately?”

After all, besides the people in the dorm, no one else knew about this. Even if some classmates knew, Zhou Yun didn't think they would tip off Zhao Fusheng.

Zhao Fusheng might seem polite to everyone, but Zhou Yun knew very well that he was actually quite cold to people he wasn't familiar with, almost keeping them at arm's length.

Zhao Fusheng laughed: “She took the initiative to ask me to accompany her to class today, which felt off. So I casually sent you a text message…”

“You tricked me!”

Zhou Yun's eyes widened as she glared at Zhao Fusheng with a displeased expression.

That morning, she had received a text from Zhao Fusheng. The content was simple: he asked why she hadn't told him about Fan Baobao's difficulties.

Zhou Yun hadn't thought much of it at the time, assuming Zhao Fusheng already knew everything, so she told him that Fan Baobao had forbidden them from telling anyone.

Zhao Fusheng's reply was interesting: he said he had always considered Zhou Yun a friend, but she had joined Fan Baobao in keeping secrets from him, and he was very hurt.

Now, Zhou Yun realized that Zhao Fusheng had known nothing at all. He had only deduced from Fan Baobao's behavior that she was in trouble at school and had casually tricked her into revealing it.

“I call it a white lie,” Zhao Fusheng said calmly. “So now, can you tell me what exactly happened?”

“It takes great courage to stand up to your enemies, but even greater courage to stand up to your friends,” Zhou Yun said with mock gravity.

Zhao Fusheng glanced at her and said flatly, “Old Jiang's next film will almost certainly lose money. In a few years, if he wants to make commercial films, hmm, I wonder if anyone will be willing to write a script for him…”

Zhou Yun was completely thrown off, glaring at Zhao Fusheng: “You two are friends. What does that have to do with me?”

Zhao Fusheng laughed: “Is that so? I remember Old Jiang mentioned to me last time that he was thinking about whether to get married…”

“What did he say?”

Zhou Yun immediately lost her composure, looking at Zhao Fusheng with hopeful eyes.

The emotions between men and women are often driven by physical desire in daily behavior, a result of age and physiology, and a basic human instinct.

Once such behavior occurs, the next step is marriage.

Jiang Wen had just ended a painful marriage. Although he and Zhou Yun were now in a good relationship, Zhou Yun was still worried that he might have developed a fear of marriage due to the hurt he had suffered. In other words, Zhou Yun wanted to become Mrs. Jiang, not just Jiang Wen's girlfriend.

People are easier to deal with once they have desires. Seeing Zhao Fusheng's half-smiling expression, Zhou Yun knew she had been caught.

“Fine, since Baobao asked you to go to class with her, she probably intends for you to know anyway,” Zhou Yun said helplessly, looking at Zhao Fusheng. “Recently, a junior has been chasing her.”

“Huh?” Zhao Fusheng looked surprised. “That's it?”

“Yeah, what else did you think it was?” Zhou Yun glanced at him.

Zhao Fusheng smiled wryly. He had thought it was something huge, but it turned out he just had a rival in love.

He had originally thought someone at school was deliberately making things difficult for Fan Baobao. If that were the case, he might have to find a way to resolve it through Ye Jing or Jiang Wen's connections.

But now, Zhao Fusheng was very curious about which clueless guy dared to compete with him for a woman.

Seeing Zhao Fusheng's expression, Zhou Yun blinked: “I feel like you're not very angry.”

Zhao Fusheng chuckled: “Someone likes our Fan Baobao—it shows she's charming. Why should I be angry?”

Zhou Yun was stunned, completely unable to understand Zhao Fusheng's logic. She felt a bit dizzy.

Zhao Fusheng smiled but didn't explain further. He meant what he said. As a mature man, when it came to having a rival in love, he basically maintained a mindset of despising them strategically but taking them seriously tactically. To act jealous like a young man—sorry, Zhao Fusheng really couldn't do that.

That was probably the difference between maturity and immaturity.

“Come on, tell me who it is that has taken a liking to our Fan Baobao,” Zhao Fusheng said with a smile, but for some reason, Zhou Yun felt that he was gritting his teeth when he said it.
