Chapter 0793: The Big Talker
Rebirth of a Perfect Future · 第0793章 大忽悠
That guy Tan Kaixuan really meant what he said. For two whole days, he didn't set foot in the company even once, leaving Zhao Fusheng to handle everything himself.
And Zhao Fusheng lived up to expectations—he managed to mess everything up.
"Come on, I'm not a god. He was in charge from start to finish, and now you want me to take over? What do you expect me to figure out?" Zhao Fusheng said helplessly into the phone, complaining to Fan Baobao, who was far away in Beijing.
"He means well, after all, this is a joint venture for you two," Fan Baobao could only keep comforting her exasperated boyfriend. Though she understood Tan Kaixuan's approach, given Zhao Fusheng's usual lazy nature, she knew these two days must have felt like an eternity for him.
"Mean well, my ass!" Zhao Fusheng snapped. "Who was it that insisted on going into business in the first place? Now he's tired. He's dreaming. I tell you, I'll push him to expand the scale later, just wait and see how I torment him."
Fan Baobao burst out laughing. "You two are more childish than the other. I give up."
They chatted a bit longer, then Zhao Fusheng hung up.
Sitting in the office, he idly played a game on his phone, calculating that Tan Kaixuan should be arriving soon.
Sure enough, near the end of the workday, Tan Kaixuan walked into the office looking refreshed. Seeing Zhao Fusheng playing on his phone, he glared and said, "Hey, you're supposed to be working, not playing on your phone during office hours."
"Get lost. What's it to you if I play on my phone?" Zhao Fusheng shot back. "I'm telling you, no matter what excuse you have, I've been worked like a dog these two days. You figure it out. If you don't treat me to a big meal, you can't make up for my wounded soul."
Zhao Fusheng couldn't be bothered with him anymore. He nodded and stood up. "Let's go."
"Where to?" This time it was Tan Kaixuan's turn to look baffled, completely clueless about what Zhao Fusheng meant.
Zhao Fusheng shot him a dirty look and said contemptuously, "Didn't you want a big meal? Let's go, my treat."
"Great, great."
Tan Kaixuan immediately beamed. So the two of them brazenly walked out of the company office, not caring that it was still work hours. After all, they were the bosses—they ran the place.
Ercheng Hotpot, the most famous hotpot restaurant near Ninghai Normal University. Back when Zhao Fusheng and the others were in school, they only came here to splurge on a rare treat during major celebrations.
Of course, now a hotpot meal meant nothing to them.
Zhao Fusheng and Tan Kaixuan ordered three plates of meat, plus some vegetables, fish balls, shrimp paste, and other sides. Each had a bottle of Snow Beer, and as the hotpot bubbled away, they dug in.
"This is the big meal you're treating me to?" After downing a bottle of beer, Tan Kaixuan blinked and said to Zhao Fusheng in disbelief.
Zhao Fusheng nodded matter-of-factly. "I've put all my money into investments. Right now, I'm living on Fan Baobao's salary. You should be grateful."
Tan Kaixuan slapped his forehead. He was too tired to even mock this guy.
"This is the first time I've seen someone so brazen about being a kept man," Tan Kaixuan teased Zhao Fusheng.
"What do you know? That's called skill," Zhao Fusheng said with a grin.
Clearly, he was trying to annoy Tan Kaixuan.
Tan Kaixuan shook his head helplessly, gaining a new appreciation for the thickness of Zhao Fusheng's skin.
"By the way, how's the sale of the franchise rights going?"
Zhao Fusheng suddenly remembered something and asked Tan Kaixuan casually.
Tan Kaixuan was taken aback, staring at Zhao Fusheng incredulously. "Wait, what have you been looking at in the office these two days? Didn't you read the reports?"
Zhao Fusheng shook his head. "I didn't understand them."
"Pfft!"
Tan Kaixuan spat out a mouthful of beer, staring at Zhao Fusheng dumbfounded, as if his ears were playing tricks on him. "What did you say?"
"I didn't understand them," Zhao Fusheng said seriously. "Those materials were all over the place, and Brother Sun didn't explain clearly, so I didn't bother much. Besides, the Huihui Technology matter and the KFC franchise rights are two different things. Of course I had to ask you."
Tan Kaixuan took a deep breath, restraining the urge to throw his chopsticks at Zhao Fusheng's face. "You bastard, you just want to be a hands-off boss, don't you?"
Zhao Fusheng shrugged. "I believe you'll do a great job."
Tan Kaixuan paused, staring at Zhao Fusheng's face intently for a few seconds, then shook his head and said nothing more.
Zhao Fusheng chuckled lightly, also dropping the subject. He believed Tan Kaixuan had understood his meaning.
"I sent people to other cities to sell the KFC franchise rights, but the results were mediocre," Tan Kaixuan explained after a while. "You know, around here, people aren't really into this yet."
Zhao Fusheng nodded. "You can train those salespeople. You have to tell them that even though what we're doing is a bold move with a low success rate, they must be confident. A qualified salesperson, even if selling the worst product in the world, must make the customer believe they're touting the most unique and cost-effective product in the world."
After he said this, he found Tan Kaixuan staring at him with his mouth wide open. Zhao Fusheng was puzzled. "What's wrong? Am I wrong?"
He had read this in a marketing book in his previous life and had been so impressed that he memorized it.
Tan Kaixuan shook his head. "No, not wrong—very right. I think you could totally sell insurance."
In that era, insurance salesmen were almost synonymous with swindlers. People's perception of insurance was that it was something only those with money to burn would do, since no one would spend thousands a year on an unknown risk.
Clearly, in Tan Kaixuan's view, what Zhao Fusheng had just said was pretty much the same as selling insurance.
Hearing this, Zhao Fusheng laughed. He couldn't explain, so he just sighed. "Anyway, that's what I think. You decide what to do."
Tan Kaixuan nodded. "I know you're thinking about the company. Don't worry, I'll pass it on."
Though he found Zhao Fusheng's words a bit ridiculous, he had to admit they were useful for motivating the sales staff.
