Chapter 13: Suicidal Sneak Attack

肉装法爷会挂机 · 第十三章 自杀式偷袭

Old drunkard Asen Howell moved quickly.

Gunie followed behind him with ease.

As they traveled, the old drunkard Asen walked briskly, showing he was quite familiar with the terrain around here.

As he pressed on, the noise gradually faded away, and the deep alley grew darker and quieter.

In less than two minutes, the two had already penetrated deep into a pitch-black alley.

"Young man, I haven't asked your name yet?"

Asen Howell, walking ahead, seemed to feel they had left the noise far behind and no one would notice them here, so he slowed his pace and asked.

"Jack Sparrow."

"A good name."

As soon as the words fell,

a shadow flashed,

Clang!

A sharp blade split the air, slashing toward Gunie with incredible speed and sharpness.

However,

the next moment, this attacking Asen Howell was frozen like a statue, suspended half a meter above the ground in mid-leap.

Like a floating statue.

Yes, this Asen Howell had burst into a jump while drawing his blade, aiming to kill Gunie in one strike.

Unfortunately, he was too weak.

Transcendent second rank might be strong among ordinary transcendent sailors.

But before Gunie, he might not even withstand a single Fireball spell.

Moreover, on the way here, Gunie had silently placed several Puppet Secret Threads on him just in case.

If not for some things Gunie needed to clarify, this old drunkard named Asen Howell would have been torn apart by the fifth-rank high-level spell Puppet Secret Thread the moment he drew his blade.

Looking at this "Asen Howell" he had easily controlled, Gunie pondered briefly.

"Old Tree wouldn't send me into the arms of his enemy."

"Looks like I found the wrong person," Gunie muttered to himself.

When it came to finding someone, Gunie was very alert.

Relying solely on a name, Gunie couldn't confirm the other's identity.

After all, even Gunie himself used a fake name. Assuming the other was Asen Howell just because he said so would be too presumptuous.

"You didn't find the wrong person. That was just a small test, and you passed." At this moment, Asen Howell, suspended in midair, forced a smile on his face.

Gunie shrugged.

"But I truly felt the killing intent just now."

"The job you mentioned—could it be to kill me and then rob my money pouch?"

"No." Asen Howell's voice trembled slightly but remained somewhat calm.

"I told you, that was just a test, a misunderstanding." Asen Howell's face began to twist, even showing a hint of panic.

He felt the invisible force controlling his body pulling at him, so strong that he had no power to resist at all.

He knew clearly he had run into a tough opponent; if he didn't handle this well, his old life might end here today.

"But I really think so."

"So... you might as well die in peace." Gunie moved his fingers.

This man called Asen Howell, suspended in midair, began to have his arm twist unnaturally, then the short knife in his hand pressed against his own chin.

This was an alloy weapon forged from ordinary steel and transcendent black iron.

The old man was so poor that this weapon was probably the most valuable thing he owned.

"No..." Asen Howell tried desperately to plead.

But now he couldn't move at all, not even make a sound.

The strangeness of the other's methods was beyond his imagination.

"Pfft!"

The curved knife plunged through the chin directly into the cranial cavity.

Drip... drip...

Blood kept dripping from the hilt, soon forming a small stream of blood gushing out.

Gunie couldn't be bothered to touch such inferior blood.

After struggling for a moment, this Asen Howell died, suspended in midair by the Puppet Secret Threads.

Then, Gunie turned around and looked toward the entrance of the alley.

At some point, at the entrance of the alley,

a man in his forties, wearing an old jacket and a sailor's hat, looking quite calm, stood there.

"If you don't want to die, I suggest you get lost immediately. I'm not in a good mood right now," Gunie said coldly.

"You're looking for Asen Howell?"

The man at the entrance didn't leave but asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

"Are you saying you are Asen Howell?"

The man spread his hands. "If I say I am, you probably won't believe me. Can I know who sent you?"

After a moment's thought, Gunie spoke softly.

"A battle-hardened old demon hunter."

"Hmm... Old Tree?" The man pondered for a moment and asked.

Gunie narrowed his eyes, feeling he might have found the right person.

"His full name?"

"Joe Eric." The man answered straightforwardly.

"And his apprentice?"

"You mean that talented demon-hunting girl? Hmm... I think her name was Diana or something. Her personality was quite likable. As for the exact name, I don't remember clearly."

"You can't expect me to remember the name of everyone I've met, can you?" The man spread his hands again.

"Alright."

At this point, Gunie roughly believed that this man was indeed the real Asen Howell that Old Tree had sent him to find.

"Sorry, Mr. Asen Howell. I just ran into a fraud. I hope you understand."

Looking at the dead man on the ground who seemed to share his name, Asen Howell said softly, "It's always right to be cautious. There are many old frauds like him in the dock area."

"If time allowed, Old Tree would have brought you to find me himself."

"Last time we met, Old Tree said he wanted to get together with me."

"I think they should have already gone to sea to deal with those ocean undead, right?"

"You really know Old Tree well," Gunie said softly.

"Old Tree is a pitiful man." Asen Howell shook his head.

"Back then, Old Tree hunted down a group of evil witches causing trouble everywhere, offending the evil witch organization."

"When Old Tree returned home, his wife, five months pregnant, his seven-year-old daughter, and five-year-old son were all dead at home, their bodies already decomposed."

"And on the wall were the mocking words of those evil witches: 'Your hunting will eventually turn back on you.'"

"After that, Old Tree changed. Whenever he heard of dark creatures appearing, he would rush over impatiently."

"This time, I heard the undead on the sea are very fierce, with many powerful undead."

"Even those devil chiefs and devil lords have already killed several sizable pirate crews."

"Many demon hunters have died at the hands of those powerful undead and devils."

"I really hope he can return safely from this sea journey, so we can have another drink together," Asen Howell said.

Gunie's eye twitched slightly upon hearing this.

"Could you please not set up such a flag?"
