“What’s wrong with Asen?”
Gunie, listening to the conversation on the deck, slightly opened his eyes, a sharp gleam flashing within.
“I’m just a first mate… Our captain is Jack Sparrow.”
Asen Howell began to speak softly.
“Jack Sparrow?”
The blue-haired youth seemed to have heard the name before, his mind frantically piecing together fragmented bits of information about it.
After a moment, the blue-haired youth nearly stood up, his heart trembling violently.
“Jack Sparrow? The super spellcaster who slew the Feathered Serpent Edward and effortlessly killed over a hundred Yasha mermaids during the siege on Misty Phantom Island?”
After a moment of thought, the blue-haired youth asked cautiously.
“Is that the super spellcaster the outside world talks about, Captain Jack?”
“Though I don’t know what the outside world says, what you mentioned is indeed true. I saw it with my own eyes—Captain Jack is truly a powerful super spellcaster.”
“This time, we were in the mist…”
Just as Asen Howell was about to continue.
An inexplicable force violently yanked Asen Howell backward.
With a dull “thud,” Asen Howell slammed into the wooden wall.
Then, with a “boom!”
The wooden door of the cabin was kicked open by Gunie.
Gunie first looked at the short-haired youth.
The short-haired youth had already risen, watching him warily.
Then Gunie’s gaze fell on Asen Howell.
“Captain! I seem to have…” Sensing he had been tricked, Asen stood up, his face dark.
“I know. It’s not your fault. You may leave.” Gunie waved his hand lightly.
“Yes!” Asen nodded and quickly left.
As he stepped out, Asen glanced back at the short-haired youth.
“If the captain hadn’t come… I might have!”
Realizing the danger belatedly, a chill ran down his spine.
Blue short hair, handsome face, always wearing a faint, warm smile—an ability that made people trust him and unconsciously speak the truth.
This face and its ability eventually coalesced in Gunie’s mind into a figure famous across the seas.
“Casper Sea Dragon?” Gunie looked at the blue-haired youth and asked softly, as if stating a fact.
Casper Sea Dragon was a legendary figure on the seas.
He was one of the current minor pirate kings of the ocean.
Though only at the fourth rank, his personal strength was formidable.
Yet, if that were all, Casper Sea Dragon would hardly be called legendary.
Casper Sea Dragon’s greatest achievement was this:
He had deceived a powerful “Devil Lord” and obtained a very powerful treasure from him.
Now, that powerful Devil Lord seemed to be searching for him across the seas.
It had always been devils—powerful beings—who deceived others.
But this Casper Sea Dragon had turned the tables and deceived a Devil Lord, and succeeded at that. Such skill was truly unheard of.
Thus, Casper Sea Dragon’s reputation as the “Deceiver” began to spread across the seas.
When people started paying attention to this Casper Sea Dragon,
they realized just how formidable this fellow named Casper Sea Dragon was.
He had not only deceived a devil,
but also, at some medium-sized harbor, coaxed the bank manager into revealing all the bank’s secrets, pulling off a silent heist.
Even old Edward’s daughter, the little pirate queen, had been charmed by this Casper Sea Dragon.
This enraged Feathered Serpent Edward immensely.
Edward even swore he would kill that shameless “Deceiver.”
The Edward family was blessed by deep-sea leviathans, and to maintain the purity of their bloodline, their little family scandals were known to all on the seas.
In short, as people learned more about Casper Sea Dragon...
One would find that this fellow, with nothing but his mouth, had indeed done an awful lot of things.
Saying "Start with a mouth, and make up the rest" was absolutely no exaggeration.
When Gune uttered the name Caspar Hailong,
the short-haired youth paused for a moment, then broke into a smile.
"You must be Captain Jack! Your name has been quite the buzz on the seas lately."
"But I think you've mistaken me for someone else."
"I do have the ability to coax the truth out of people, but that's all. Compared to that 'Deceiver,' I'm still far off."
As he spoke, the blue-haired youth wore a hint of shame on his face.
"I'm sorry I used my ability to get some truth out of your men, but I meant no harm—I only wanted to gather some information."
"I was also afraid that this demon ship of yours, sailing through the Misty Sea, might be a pirate ship."
"As you know, many ships disguised as merchant vessels are half pirates."
"I'm just a sea merchant with an extraordinary profession. Everything I said earlier is true. I was attacked by a devil, barely escaped, and drifted on the ocean. I'm truly grateful that you allowed me to board your demon ship."
"Otherwise, I would have drifted on the sea for a very long time."
"If you could take me to Dragonhead Harbor, I would be immensely grateful, and I would even offer you some of my savings as a gift."
The blue-haired youth spoke with great sincerity.
As he elaborated,
a faint, subtle thought began to seep into the depths of Gune's soul.
"He... seems to be telling the truth!"
"I should believe him."
Gune quietly immersed himself in this strange sensation, much like the hazy state between waking and dreaming.
"I... I apologize for my earlier rash behavior."
Gune spoke slowly, a trace of apology on his face.
"I think... I did mistake you for someone else."
"This demon ship of ours is not a pirate ship, and our next stop is indeed Dragonhead Harbor."
"You are welcome to accompany us to our destination."
"Really? By the Sea God, that's wonderful!" The blue-haired youth smiled and exclaimed.
"Would you like to sit and chat?" the blue-haired youth invited.
"I'm very interested in you—the first super-caster to emerge in the supernatural world of Oya Continent in decades."
"With pleasure." Gune nodded slightly and sat down beside him.
"You've suddenly made a name for yourself on the seas recently, but your name was never heard before. And from what I know, many powerful supernaturals have come to the sea lately; a storm seems to be brewing."
"A super-caster like you couldn't have been unknown before."
"I suspect Jack Sparrow isn't your real name."
"Yes."
Gune nodded.
"Jack Sparrow is obviously a pseudonym."
"My real name is—Monkey D. Luffy, the man who aims to become the Pirate King."
"Monkey D. Luffy?"
The blue-haired youth's expression shifted.
"What a strange name. On Oya Continent and the vast seas, we've never had names with letters like that."
"Could it be..."
The blue-haired youth narrowed his eyes.
"Then... your true origin?"
"I come from the void," Gune said softly.
"From the void?"
The blue-haired youth frowned, sensing something was amiss.
"Yes," Gune nodded.
"The M78 Nebula is my home."
"That six-winged angel is in the M77 Nebula, right next to our home."
The blue-haired youth's brow grew heavier.
"So, this guy isn't from around here—a visitor from the M78 Nebula."
