Chapter 010: Cast a Spell

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第010章 下了魔法

After the visit from Governor Swann of Port Royal, the pirate incident at the Port Royal tavern was officially settled. From then on, no one came to disturb Wang Bo's peaceful life.

Wang Bo finally settled down in Port Royal.

But unfortunately, after this incident, Wang Bo's tavern business was ruined.

Neither the dockworkers nor the ordinary residents dared to enter Wang Bo's tavern for a drink.

In the following days, Wang Bo's tavern was so deserted that it could have been used as a racetrack.

This didn't seem like the ordinary, stable life he had envisioned. Wang Bo rubbed his temples, his mind racing with thoughts on how to solve this problem.

Soon, he came up with a good plan. Since the tavern business had failed, why not switch to another business?

What about opening a Gwent specialty store?

Although Wang Bo didn't play Gwent, that didn't mean Gwent wasn't fun. This game had become popular in the future world for a reason. He thought that even if he brought Gwent to the seventeenth century, its charm would remain undiminished, and it might even become popular in Port Royal, or even the whole world.

After all, entertainment in this world was truly scarce.

But just as Wang Bo made up his mind to transform the tavern into a Gwent specialty store, a customer suddenly showed up.

A man who looked quite unrestrained, with his hair tied in braids, burst in. "Give me a rum," he said, sitting down at the bar. As he spoke, he held up a delicate finger.

Wang Bo glanced at him a few times and poured him a glass of rum.

That effeminate gesture, the braided hair, and the dark circles under his eyes all revealed his identity.

Jack Sparrow! The protagonist of the Pirates of the Caribbean story.

Wang Bo remembered the first few installments of Pirates of the Caribbean: the male leads were Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, and the female lead was Elizabeth Swann.

But Wang Bo had only met the two male leads so far; he hadn't seen the female lead yet, though he had met her father, Governor Swann.

Jack Sparrow picked up the glass, downed it in one gulp, and his eyes lit up. "I've drunk a lot of rum, and I can call myself an expert in that regard, but I have to admit, boss, your rum is absolutely the best I've ever had, bar none."

"Thanks for the compliment," Wang Bo said.

Jack Sparrow pointed at the glass. "Could I have another one?"

Wang Bo nodded and poured Jack Sparrow another glass.

This time, Jack Sparrow didn't down it in one go. Instead, he swirled the glass gently and said, "You know, boss, I actually don't have any money."

"No problem," Wang Bo said nonchalantly.

This surprised Jack Sparrow. He had expected the boss to turn red with anger and throw a punch at him; to be honest, he had been ready to meet the fist with his face.

But Wang Bo's answer was completely unexpected.

"You're a strange boss," he couldn't help saying. "Is there still a boss in this day and age who doesn't care about money?"

"That's because I have money."

Jack Sparrow: ...

He seemed to sense a deep malice in those words, so he made a decision. "In that case, give me another one—no, a whole bottle."

Wang Bo nodded and casually placed a bottle of rum in front of him. "Drink as much as you like."

Jack Sparrow couldn't help but whistle. "You're more generous than I imagined. But I have a question, if I may ask—of course, you can choose not to answer."

"What question?"

"Why is your tavern so deserted, when you have such good rum?" Jack Sparrow couldn't understand. Shouldn't such delicious rum make this tavern wildly popular?

"It's a long story." Wang Bo was also troubled by this. He said vaguely, "It's probably a historical issue."

"What kind of answer is that?" Jack Sparrow couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Then he stopped asking strange questions and instead hugged the rum bottle and started drinking.

After downing a bottle of rum, the guy was clearly tipsy. His eyes became glazed, and he let out a burp. "Boss, since business is so slow here, have you considered moving somewhere else? I'm sure if you opened a tavern elsewhere, you'd make a fortune. Countless pirates would go crazy for your rum."

"That won't be necessary," Wang Bo refused without a second thought.

"Why not?"

"Because I'm very rich," Wang Bo said matter-of-factly.

Jack Sparrow: "... Boss, you might not understand. I'm talking about a whole lot of money."

"I know, but I'm richer than you think."

So Jack Sparrow said no more and just kept drinking.

After all, the rum here was too good. Who knew where the tavern owner got such excellent rum?

But in reality, Jack Sparrow didn't know that Wang Bo's rum was made with the same recipe and the same process as everyone else's.

The reason he found it so good wasn't that Wang Bo had added something to it. It was that he had cast a spell on it.

It sounded unbelievable, but it was true.

Wang Bo had cast a spell that made alcoholic beverages taste better. Others would still taste the same flavor, but it was just better than other rums.

It wasn't science, but it was magic.

After all, magic was about turning the impossible into possible. Even food could be conjured out of thin air. A spell to make food more delicious wasn't even high-level magic.

Wang Bo had long mastered this spell and had cast it on all the liquor in his cellar, hoping to use magic to run a booming tavern.

But because of a group of pirates, his tavern became deserted.

This batch of enchanted fine wine was never sold again, left to gather dust in the cellar.

Before long, Jack Sparrow was completely drunk. After finishing the last glass of rum, he fell to the floor with a thud and went to sleep.

Wang Bo glanced at him and ignored the drunkard. If the guy had been a beautiful woman, Wang Bo might have conjured up a bed, but unfortunately, Jack Sparrow was a big man. Even if he was a bit effeminate, he was still a man.

Wang Bo had no extra thoughts.

Anyway, sleeping on the tavern floor wouldn't do much harm.

He'd just be a bit sore all over when he woke up.
