Chapter 009: A Big Shot

Triton nodded, turned into a sea breeze, and vanished from Wang Bo's bar. Also gone were Eustace Kid and the other pirates.
Wang Bo breathed a sigh of relief watching Triton leave. His purpose in coming to this world was to ensure the perfect fusion of the two worlds, not to fight gods, so he had no desire to clash with the Greek pantheon.
Triton leaving quietly was the best possible outcome for Wang Bo.
But no sooner had Triton left than a young man burst in.
"Can I help you?" Wang Bo asked the young man.
The young man scanned the bar and asked, "What happened here just now?"
Wang Bo said, "Nothing happened here just now."
The young man naturally didn't believe him. "Do you know," he said, "that a while ago, all the iron weapons in Port Royal flew toward your place, even though they fell to the ground halfway?"
Wang Bo said, "Maybe your eyes were playing tricks on you."
The young man retorted, "I don't think I was seeing things. In fact, many people saw it. I asked around, and they said you had a conflict with a group of pirates."
Wang Bo asked, "Some people? What people?"
"Workers from the docks."
"They said there were pirates here?"
"Yes."
"How many pirates?"
"At least a dozen."
Wang Bo clapped his hands and said, "So do you think there are a dozen pirates here?"
"That's what puzzles me," the young man said. "Where did those pirates go?"
"There were never any pirates here," Wang Bo lied through his teeth.
The young man said, "I don't think those workers would all lie together."
"Maybe they just had too much to drink. Drunk people talk nonsense—it's perfectly normal."
"Is that so?" The young man looked at Wang Bo suspiciously. He still wasn't willing to believe Wang Bo, but he had no proof that Wang Bo was lying.
After all, he hadn't seen the dozen pirates those people were talking about.
"What's your name?" Wang Bo asked.
"Will Turner," the young man gave his name.
Wang Bo suddenly realized, "So you're a blacksmith."
Will Turner wasn't surprised that Wang Bo had identified his profession at once. "Everyone in Port Royal knows I'm a blacksmith. But I hope you can tell me where those dozen pirates went, because it concerns the safety of all Port Royal."
Wang Bo waved his hand impatiently. "First of all, there are no pirates here. Besides, you're just a blacksmith, not a guard of Port Royal."
Will Turner didn't argue. He nodded. "As you say, I'm not a guard. But as a resident of Port Royal, I don't want it to face any danger."
"Then you can rest assured. There are no pirates in Port Royal. You can leave now."
Will Turner saw that Wang Bo was unwilling to say anything more and could only turn and leave helplessly. After all, he was just a blacksmith, not a guard, and had no right to search the tavern, let alone interrogate Wang Bo.
Faced with Wang Bo, who refused to say anything, he could only slink away in defeat.
But Wang Bo knew this was not the end of the matter.
After all, the incident had stirred up no small commotion; it couldn't just end like this.
Sure enough, the next day, a group of Port Royal guards appeared, barging into Wang Bo's tavern roughly, attempting to arrest him with a very unfriendly attitude.
Wang Bo was not at all surprised by this.
After all, it was the seventeenth century; talking about human rights in this era was utter nonsense.
In this era, ordinary people could become slaves at any moment; it was the most unreasonable time. Those with power and influence could target you without any scruples.
This was nothing like modern society, where evidence was needed to go after you.
The rough guards only wanted to throw Wang Bo into prison and torture him for a confession; everything else was irrelevant. There was no such thing as human rights or excessive force.
Of course, besides wanting to force information about the pirates out of him, these people were also eager to squeeze some money out of Wang Bo.
Some well-informed individuals had already learned from the tavern's previous owner that this guy had paid for the tavern with a large gemstone—he was dripping with wealth.
If they didn't squeeze some money out of him, it would be a disservice to their profession.
So the Port Royal guards, upon entering the tavern, overturned all the tables and chairs and advanced menacingly toward Wang Bo.
The guard commander looked sternly at Wang Bo and said, "I've received a report that you're harboring pirates here. You must come with us and explain yourself."
Wang Bo rolled his eyes, pointed at the door, and said, "Get out."
The Port Royal guards looked at each other, then without a word, all of them dropped to the ground and rolled out of the tavern one after another.
Speaking things into existence was no longer a challenge for Wang Bo.
Outside the tavern.
The residents of Port Royal saw a group of guards storm into the tavern with arrogance, thinking someone had fallen victim to them again. But within minutes, they watched the guards roll out in a line, and the entire street fell into an indescribable silence.
This was too bizarre.
What had happened?
Standing in the crowd, Will Turner watched the Port Royal guards rolling in a line and couldn't help but wonder: Could that yellow-skinned boss be a big shot not to be trifled with?
But this was Port Royal.
Could a yellow-skinned man be a big shot?
Will Turner didn't understand, but he seemed to realize that the tavern owner might not necessarily be a pirate's accomplice, but he was certainly someone not to be messed with.
So he gave up the idea of causing trouble for him. As long as the man wasn't a pirate and wouldn't harm Port Royal, whatever his background, it was none of his business.
On the other hand, after Wang Bo drove away the Port Royal guards, the matter didn't end there, because soon after, Governor Swann of Port Royal personally came calling with his men.
But this time, the other party's attitude was much better, or rather, much more humble.
Probably because he had learned from the Port Royal guards that Wang Bo was rather uncanny, so when he came to visit, he wore a smile and his words were full of flattery.
Anyone who didn't know might think Wang Bo was a big shot from the royal court.
But in reality, although Wang Bo wasn't from the royal court, he was indeed a big shot. Even those from the royal court were mere nobodies in front of Wang Bo.
