Chapter 020: The Three Listening In

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第020章 监听的三人

Who is Tony Stark?

The son of Howard Stark, orphan of a S.H.I.E.L.D. founding member. Though Howard died early, S.H.I.E.L.D. never stopped monitoring Tony Stark.

Especially the Motherf***er, who always had designs on Tony Stark, wanting to recruit him into S.H.I.E.L.D.

But because he was too busy with other matters, and Tony Stark always maintained his playboy image, the matter was repeatedly postponed until now.

As a result, Tony Stark was set up by Obadiah.

Now that Tony Stark had finally returned, the Motherf***er, i.e., the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., bald Nick Fury, naturally wouldn't let Tony Stark get into trouble again.

Close surveillance was only natural.

In the original story, Obadiah nearly killed Tony because S.H.I.E.L.D. never imagined that the man who had watched Tony grow up would actually make a ruthless move against him.

But now it was different. Wang Bo was under surveillance by Black Widow.

Every move he made would be reported by Black Widow to S.H.I.E.L.D., including dinner with Obadiah tonight.

When Wang Bo entered earlier, this private room had already been bugged with surveillance and listening devices by someone, and Obadiah seemed unaware of this.

That is to say, these bugs and cameras were likely placed by S.H.I.E.L.D.

The conversation between the two from the moment they entered had already fallen into the ears of interested parties.

Now that Obadiah wanted Tony Stark to disappear, this news naturally fell into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hands.

Even if S.H.I.E.L.D. were stupid, they wouldn't allow Obadiah to harm Tony Stark. With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources, dealing with Obadiah was absolutely no problem.

In other words, from the moment Obadiah said he wanted Tony Stark to disappear, he was already finished.

Poor guy.

Wang Bo looked at Obadiah with pity and said slowly, "I have no hatred for Tony Stark. After all, in my eyes, Tony Stark is just an insignificant small fry."

Obadiah stared at Wang Bo in shock, not understanding how Wang Bo dared to say such things.

Tony Stark, just an insignificant small fry?

That was the biggest joke of the century.

"Don't you understand how dangerous Tony Stark is?" Obadiah demanded loudly.

"Dangerous? What danger?" Wang Bo asked in surprise. "Do you think Tony Stark in his current state, or Stark Industries in its current state, can threaten me?"

Obadiah was momentarily speechless.

Wang Bo said calmly, "Times have changed, Obadiah. Stark Industries' lofty position no longer exists. It has fallen and is no longer a concern."

"Of course, even if Tony Stark brought Stark Industries back to its peak or even further, so what? Could it rival my Hammer Industries?"

"Would I, who owns two planets' worth of resources, care about a tiny, insignificant Tony Stark?"

Perhaps in the Marvel world, Tony Stark was the brightest star.

As the most popular saying goes, Heart of Iron, peer to gods.

But outside the Marvel world, compared to the infinite multiverse, Tony Stark was nothing, even Wang Bo was nothing, and others even less. Only the gods who roamed the multiverse were truly majestic.

"Let's end our conversation here, Obadiah."

Wang Bo was thoroughly disappointed with this dialogue, though it was expected. "Good luck, Obadiah. Goodbye."

With that, Wang Bo pushed open the door and left the room.

All that remained was a dejected old man.

Meanwhile, in a sealed room two floors above, a red-haired beautiful woman, a middle-aged man with a receding hairline, and a bald one-eyed black man with arms crossed—two men and one woman—sat around a table with a laptop displaying the image of a dejected Obadiah.

The middle-aged man with the receding hairline said, "It seems we've found the mastermind behind Tony Stark's kidnapping. Quite unexpected, isn't it, Natasha?"

The red-haired woman Natasha nodded. "Obadiah is indeed unexpected. In our analysis, the probability of him moving against Tony was very low."

"Then our analysis was wrong," the bald one-eyed black man said coldly. "We misjudged human nature."

"Director, human hearts are fickle. It can't be helped," said the man with the receding hairline.

"Coulson." The bald one-eyed black man looked at him.

"Yes, Director."

"Obadiah is yours to handle. Any problems?"

Coulson said with a wry smile, "With just this video, it's hard to put him in prison."

"Then gather as much evidence as you can. I don't want to see him harm Tony Stark again. Take him out before he makes another move."

The bald one-eyed man gave the order directly.

Coulson said helplessly, "I'll do my best."

Though not entirely satisfied with Coulson's answer, the bald one-eyed man said nothing more and turned to look at the red-haired woman Natasha.

"Good work, Natasha."

"It was nothing," Natasha said without modesty. After a pause, she asked, "Should I continue monitoring Justin Hammer?"

"You have no new assignments for now. Keep monitoring Justin Hammer. My gut tells me he's not a simple man. According to the files, his behavior has changed too drastically. I suspect..."

"You suspect he's been replaced, that he's not the real Justin Hammer," Natasha said.

"You feel it too?"

"If Justin Hammer were really that capable, he wouldn't have been suppressed by Tony Stark all these years," Natasha said. "I once investigated. During the time Tony Stark was kidnapped, he stayed home alone for days without going out. I suspect that's when he was replaced."

It was a very bold suspicion, but the bald one-eyed man nodded in approval.

"Your job is to monitor him and find out if this person is really Justin Hammer."

"Understood." A charming smile appeared on Natasha's face. "I'll get everything clear and straight."

The one-eyed man nodded slightly. With Natasha on the job, he was at ease.

Because she had never let him down.
