Chapter 021 Yes, and No
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第021章 是,也不是
The Fukumaru was heavily guarded, clearly differing from the high-seas gambling ship in the plot. Though unsure why this discrepancy existed, Wang Bo guessed it must be related to the transmigrator.
Perhaps it was influenced by Pluto Hades.
After all, Imamura Kiyoko had been taken away by the fox spirit and then appeared here. The owner of the Fukumaru was clearly connected to Pluto Hades, and might even be the fox spirit herself.
In any case, the Fukumaru was no longer a gambling ship but something like a floating fortress.
A white dove, so conspicuous, flew inside and naturally was targeted for elimination by the internal staff. After being shot down, the dove turned into an exquisite hair clip.
The patrol who shot down the dove saw this, his expression shifting uncertainly. He immediately took the hair clip and entered the cabin.
All of this fell under Wang Bo's watch.
He carefully observed every move on the Fukumaru. Seeing the patrol enter the cabin, he followed the man to the top deck of the cruise ship, where the patrol knocked on a door.
Behind the door was a luxurious presidential suite.
A dozen burly men in black stood on either side of the room's hall, arms at their sides, standing naturally.
In the center of the hall stood a woman in a red tight-fitting dress, watching TV and following the host's yoga routine.
The woman had delicate features, no less than Saeko Nogami's, and a voluptuous figure, no less than Yako's.
But none of the dozen men dared to stare at her; they all looked straight ahead like the most professional bodyguards.
After knocking and entering, the patrol approached the woman in red, showed her the hair clip, and recounted what had happened from start to finish.
The woman continued doing yoga while listening to the patrol's account.
The patrol kept it brief, finished his report, and stepped aside.
The woman in red nodded to show she understood, then continued learning from the TV host, meticulously imitating the yoga moves, as textbook-perfect as a manual.
She seemed completely unflustered, as if confident in her plan.
Wang Bo watched for a few moments, then withdrew his gaze and turned his attention to Imamura Kiyoko. He clapped his hands and teleported her out of the cruise ship's room.
Meng Bo's vision blurred, and he saw a woman appear in the car.
He looked closely—it was the kidnapped Imamura Kiyoko.
Imamura Kiyoko, seeing the three people suddenly before her and the car's interior, looked panicked. Meng Bo quickly said, "Don't panic. We're here to rescue you. Come with us now."
With that, he started the Ferrari and drove away from the dock.
The sports car left the dock discreetly, with no one noticing anything amiss.
Along the way, after listening to Meng Bo's explanation, Imamura Kiyoko's expression shifted several times—from initial panic to anxiety, then to calm. Finally, she tentatively asked, "Are you really sent by my father to rescue me?"
Meng Bo nodded and pulled out a phone, handing it to Imamura Kiyoko. "You can call President Imamura now to let him know you're safe."
Hearing that Meng Bo was willing to let her call, Imamura Kiyoko breathed a sigh of relief and reached for the phone.
Just then, a hand suddenly reached over and took the phone away.
Imamura Kiyoko was startled, and her previously eased heart immediately tightened.
Meng Bo looked at Wang Bo in surprise.
Saeko Nogami, thoughtful, looked at Imamura Kiyoko with growing wariness. From Wang Bo's action, she deduced that this Imamura Kiyoko might be problematic. But she didn't understand: if Imamura Kiyoko was indeed problematic, why would Wang Bo have rescued her?
Moreover, judging by the dove that had turned from a hair clip, Imamura Kiyoko should have been on the Fukumaru. Given Wang Bo's abilities, there was no reason he would have rescued the wrong person.
Wang Bo, unconcerned with Saeko's thoughts, looked directly at Imamura Kiyoko and said slowly, "Miss Imamura Kiyoko, I want to ask you something."
"Who are you?" Imamura Kiyoko asked timidly.
Meng Bo quickly said, "He's my companion. He just rescued you from the cruise ship."
Imamura Kiyoko's expression relaxed a little, and she said gratefully, "Thank you."
Wang Bo waved his hand. "Don't thank me yet. Miss Imamura Kiyoko, I want to ask you a question."
"What?"
"Where is Miss Imamura Kiyoko?"
Both Meng Bo and Saeko Nogami were startled. Meng Bo nearly crashed into the roadside guardrail, but he reacted quickly and, at the last moment, twisted the steering wheel to bring the car back.
Saeko Nogami asked, "Wang Bo-san, do you mean the person you rescued is not Miss Imamura Kiyoko?"
"Yes, and no," Wang Bo said.
Saeko Nogami looked bewildered.
Meng Bo couldn't help asking, "What do you mean 'yes and no'? Is she or isn't she?"
Wang Bo said calmly, "The body is Imamura Kiyoko, but the soul is not. Someone has used some kind of magic or sorcery to replace Imamura Kiyoko's true soul."
Imamura Kiyoko's face changed dramatically.
Saeko Nogami immediately realized, "She's the fox spirit."
"Not necessarily the fox spirit herself, maybe one of her minions," Wang Bo said.
Imamura Kiyoko's expression grew even uglier. She couldn't understand how such a flawless plan could be seen through by a few humans.
But since she was exposed, she would have to kill—
Just as the murderous intent arose, Imamura Kiyoko suddenly found her entire body stiff, unable to move even a pinky finger.
Her heart sank to the bottom.
Meng Bo drove while saying, "I remember the fox spirit's ability is to charm people, right?"
"Who told you the fox spirit's ability is to charm?" Wang Bo countered.
"Of course, one of her accomplices said so," Meng Bo said. "Saeko heard it too."
Wang Bo sighed and said, "Let me ask you: would you truthfully tell a few strangers about your own abilities?"
"Of course not," Meng Bo said instinctively. "I don't know them, so why would I tell them my abilities?"
"Exactly. That blond guy also said they didn't know each other; they just came together for a common goal. Why would you think they trust each other enough to reveal their true abilities?"
Wang Bo's words left Meng Bo speechless.
Meng Bo said, "But don't they all believe in that Pluto guy?"
"Even if they believe in the same deity, they're still strangers," Wang Bo said bluntly. "Christianity and Catholicism also believe in the same deity, but they don't get along very well."
Meng Bo: ...
