Chapter 008: Starting a Company

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第008章 开公司

"Black tea."

"Then one cup of black tea." Wang Bo said to the Gourmet Tablecloth, and a steaming cup of black tea appeared on it.

Jonathan couldn't help but open his mouth in surprise. "How did you do that?"

Wang Bo ignored him and turned to ask, "Evelyn, what would you like to drink?"

"A cup of coffee, if that's alright?"

"Of course." Wang Bo ordered another cup of Earl Grey coffee and handed it over.

O'Connell walked over and circled the tablecloth. "Is this a magical artifact?"

"It's technology," Wang Bo said.

O'Connell stared at Wang Bo in bewilderment; he didn't understand how the hell this was technology.

Wang Bo said, "Sometimes, powerful high-tech isn't much different from magic. What would you like to drink?"

"Only black tea and coffee?"

"No, any food you can think of, it can produce."

"Give me a bottle of whiskey," O'Connell said to the Gourmet Tablecloth. "And while you're at it, a cup of milk tea for my son and a cup of black tea for my wife. Thanks."

Instantly, a bottle of whiskey, a cup of milk tea, and a cup of black tea appeared on the Gourmet Tablecloth.

"This is truly amazing. How did you get this thing?" O'Connell handed the black tea and milk tea to his wife and child respectively, full of curiosity.

Wang Bo said, "It's a long story."

Evelyn sipped her coffee and said, "Fortunately, we have plenty of time."

"Alright then. It all started from the day I left."

Wang Bo then briefly recounted his identity, his journey to other worlds, and the sights he had seen—a story he had already told many people.

For instance, Lara, and also Diana.

Now, he spoke with ease, eloquence, and wit, summarizing his experiences simply, while also telling everyone that he was already married.

Not only did he have Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing, but also Han Yue and Yu Shu.

When Wang Bo reached this point, he carefully observed Evelyn and noticed that upon hearing he had women, she merely raised an eyebrow slightly.

But he could tell she wasn't angry. That is, Evelyn didn't actually like him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have that expression. The whole thing about waiting eight years for him without marrying was completely Jonathan's nonsense.

O'Connell said, "I never imagined your experiences were so incredible. This is unbelievable."

Jonathan's focus was entirely elsewhere; his eyes lit up as he said, "So, does that mean you're now as rich as a country?"

Wang Bo nodded, drinking the cola he had just ordered, and said, "That's right. I do have countless gold and silver treasures, gems and jade, pearls and agate. Compared to the wealth I possess, the treasures of Hamunaptra are but a drop in the bucket, utterly insignificant."

"That's fantastic!" Jonathan immediately jumped up and said, "Actually, I have an idea, a very bold idea. I want to start a big company. Would you be willing to provide some capital? I can give you shares. What do you think?"

Wang Bo looked at him with amusement. Jonathan loved money, but he still had some dignity; he didn't ask Wang Bo for money outright, but used the pretext of starting a company to ask for funds.

He mentioned giving shares and dividends.

That was more sophisticated. In essence, he wanted money for investment, which was much cleverer than asking directly.

Wang Bo asked, "What kind of company do you want to start?"

Jonathan replied without hesitation, "A company that makes money, of course!"

"And what kind of company do you think makes money?"

"Uh... a nightclub?" Before Wang Bo returned, Jonathan often lingered in nightclubs, so he thought they were very profitable.

Wang Bo remembered that in the third installment of the story, Jonathan had opened a nightclub in the ancient Eastern city of Shanghai.

"A nightclub isn't a very profitable business." Wang Bo decided to give Jonathan a hand—after all, they were once adventure companions. "I have a small piece of technology here. If you can master it, you could build a vast business empire. Then buying a hundred nightclubs wouldn't be a problem."

"Really?" Jonathan was overjoyed.

O'Connell shook his head and said, "Jonathan isn't cut out for business. Such technology would make countless capitalists drool. If he takes it out, they'll eat him alive, bones and all. You'd be doing him harm."

Hearing this, Jonathan quickly shook his head. "Forget it. I'll just stick to my nightclub."

He actually knew his limits; though greedy, he wasn't a fool who didn't know his place.

Wang Bo thought about it and then pulled out a fist-sized gem and tossed it to Jonathan. "Here's your capital. You decide what company to start, but don't forget my shares and dividends."

Jonathan caught the gem and laughed with joy. "Of course not. Don't worry."

Evelyn sighed, glanced at the sky outside—the sun had set, and the night hung overhead, dotted with countless bright and brilliant stars.

She clapped her hands to draw everyone's attention and said, "It's getting late. Shouldn't we have dinner?"

Jonathan patted his stomach. "If you hadn't mentioned it, I'd almost forgotten. Let's go. I'm starving."

O'Connell said, "That gem should be enough to fill your stomach, shouldn't it?"

Jonathan chuckled and followed the others to the dining room.

Wang Bo used the Gourmet Tablecloth to produce a large array of food, placing it on the table as everyone ate slowly.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Wang Bo turned to Evelyn and said, "Evelyn, you've awakened your past-life memories, haven't you?"

Evelyn nodded. "Jonathan told you."

"That's right."

"Yes, I've awakened, and I've also recovered the treasure I once guarded."

"The Scorpion King's spirit."

Evelyn exclaimed, "How do you know everything?"

The first time she saw Wang Bo, he seemed to know everything, and now it was still the same.

"I only know what I know," Wang Bo said. "You plan to use it to find the Oasis of Ahm Shere and then deal with the Scorpion King."

"It's the only way to stop the Scorpion King," Evelyn said seriously.

"I'll go with you."

"Thank you." Evelyn understood that Wang Bo was concerned about her and didn't refuse, but she said, "I'll handle the Scorpion King. I'll send him back to Anubis's side myself."
