Chapter 010: Death Star
获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第010章 死星
As the protagonist of Star Wars, Luke was naturally Force-sensitive. But even for a Force-sensitive, getting started in a short time was no easy task.
Even though Obi-Wan was a good teacher.
Luke still clumsily swung his lightsaber, blocking the attacks of a training droid.
The droid was a small spherical ball, hovering in midair, darting left and right, forward and back, occasionally firing a laser bolt.
But the laser bolt had very low power; hitting a person would only cause some pain, not kill.
However, its speed was not much different from a real blaster bolt.
If Luke couldn't feel the Force, he could only passively take the hits.
If it were a real blaster, he would have died hundreds of times by now.
Wang Bo initially thought Luke would get started quickly, showing extraordinary talent, after all, he was the protagonist of Star Wars.
But Luke disappointed Wang Bo.
Wang Bo felt that perhaps his expectations were too high.
Although Luke was the protagonist, he was still just a teenager.
Just then, Han Solo left the pilot seat and walked over. He had already entered the destination into the ship's computer; the Millennium Falcon would auto-navigate and fly on autopilot.
He didn't need to stay at the controls.
Besides, the Wookiee named Chewbacca was still in the co-pilot seat.
Seeing Luke's training, Han Solo couldn't help but let out a snicker, because Luke looked so ridiculous being beaten by the droid.
Obi-Wan glanced at him calmly but said nothing.
Han Solo said, "Do you think this kind of training is useful?"
Obi-Wan looked at Wang Bo and gave him a signal. Wang Bo nodded, stood up, walked over, replaced Luke, picked up the lightsaber, closed his eyes, and effortlessly blocked the laser bolts fired by the droid.
The Force existed throughout the universe; once you sensed it, you could do many incredible things.
Blocking laser bolts with a lightsaber was nothing.
"That's just luck," Han Solo said stubbornly.
But Obi-Wan didn't argue with him; instead, he patiently taught Luke, telling him how to learn from Wang Bo, how to feel the Force, and how to block laser bolts with a lightsaber.
He hoped Luke could master the Force as soon as possible.
But in fact, it was not easy for Luke to get started in a short time.
Every Jedi needed extensive practice to master the Force and successfully step through that door.
...
The Millennium Falcon was indeed fast; it didn't take long to reach the Alderaan system.
However, when the Falcon exited hyperspace, they didn't see the planet Alderaan.
The planet had vanished from its coordinates, replaced by a vast field of floating rocks in space.
"What the hell is going on?" Han Solo had never encountered this before. "According to the coordinates, we should have arrived at Alderaan."
Luke said, "But I don't see a planet; I only see we've entered an asteroid field."
Wang Bo shook his head and said, "This isn't an asteroid field; these are fragments of a planet."
"Fragments?" Han Solo didn't believe it. "Are you kidding me? To destroy a planet, you'd need a lot of Star Destroyers."
"You don't need a lot of Star Destroyers; just one battle station is enough."
Wang Bo's gaze pierced through the mass of debris and saw a huge sphere.
That was the weapon that had destroyed Alderaan, the Empire's ultimate weapon... the Death Star!
Wang Bo knew a lot about the Death Star.
After all, it was very famous. Even though he hadn't watched Star Wars, he had searched for information about the Death Star online.
The Death Star had a diameter of 160 kilometers; circumnavigating it would take at least 180 days or longer.
Personnel on the Death Star usually stayed in deeper sections and wouldn't leave for months at a time. Since the station's location was always top secret, contact with family or friends was strictly forbidden.
This made life on the Death Star very difficult. To ease the burden of duty, the station was equipped with many public facilities.
Each sector's integrated department had parks, shopping centers, and entertainment areas including restaurants, cinemas, and fitness centers.
But no matter how leisurely the interior was built, it couldn't hide the fact that the Death Star was an ultimate weapon.
Its surface was dotted with thousands of armed turrets: a total of 15,000 turbolaser batteries and 768 tractor beam projectors. The Death Star had a naval and army force of 342,953 personnel, 25,984 stormtroopers, and about 2 million other troops.
The Death Star was a battle station the size of a small moon.
It possessed powerful turbolaser arrays and tractor beam emitters, with firepower exceeding half of the Imperial Starfleet.
Inside, there were large numbers of Imperial troops and combat vehicles, as well as various detention blocks and interrogation rooms. The spherical Death Star appeared dark gray.
On the northern hemisphere of the Death Star was a concave dish-shaped structure housing the station's main laser weapon.
Helping the Death Star move in realspace was a powerful network of ion engines, converting reactor power into the required thrust. For the Death Star to be a true deterrent, it had to be mobile.
123 hyperdrive field generators were linked into a single navigation matrix, allowing the Death Star to travel through hyperspace across the galaxy.
The astonishing energy used by the station, combined with its enormous mass, gave the Death Star a magnetic field and artificial gravity equal to orbital bodies many times its size.
From all these data, the Death Star was born purely for destruction.
Calling it the ultimate weapon was absolutely correct.
Wang Bo had seen many sci-fi movies, but among them, very few weapons could match the Death Star as an ultimate weapon.
The most impressive to Wang Bo was the red matter from the Star Trek universe, a substance that could create a black hole if enough was used.
Destroying a planet was no problem.
Besides that, there was the Q-bomb from Starship Troopers, also a weapon that could easily destroy a planet.
Compared to the latter two, the Death Star had no advantage.
Whether red matter or Q-bomb, their manufacturing costs were far lower than the Death Star, yet their effects were not inferior.
But undeniably, the Death Star's appearance far surpassed red matter and the Q-bomb.
If Wang Bo had to make a choice, he would prefer the Death Star over the other two.
Mainly because it was imposing.
Such a huge battle station, just by sitting there, could intimidate countless people.
Not to mention the various ships and combat troops inside the Death Star, perfect for suppressing a planet.
