Chapter 010: Subtle Differences

"Alright!"

Seeing that Wang Bo didn't seem interested in going home, Gwen's excitement cooled a little, and she asked, "Then can you tell me how you came to this world?"

She wanted to know whether the way Wang Bo had come to this world was different from the way she herself had come.

Wang Bo understood very well what Spider-Gwen meant by this question, and answered half-truthfully, "I don't know. I was just sleeping at the time, and when I woke up, I found myself in this world."

Spider-Gwen raised an eyebrow; there seemed to be no difference between the two.

"Then why did you become Carmine Falcone's underling? Don't tell me you've never read Batman comics?" Spider-Gwen asked, puzzled. "That guy is no good."

Wang Bo said, "After I woke up, I found myself working for Carmine Falcone. It's as simple as that."

He was unwilling to tell Spider-Gwen that he had come to this world precisely to find her, the transmigrator.

Wang Bo had originally thought this would be a difficult task.

After all, the world is so vast, finding one person is no easy task.

So Wang Bo had no intention of completing this task at all; he only wanted to live out his life peacefully in this world.

But who the hell could have imagined that Spider-Gwen would fall from the sky and land right in front of him.

This made Wang Bo very distressed.

If he told Spider-Gwen that he had come specifically to take her home.

Spider-Gwen might be so happy that she wouldn't know what to do with herself, and then his mission would be complete. At that point, he would surely be dispatched to carry out the next one.

But what if the world where the next mission takes place is a doomsday world?

What if it's some kind of ultra-dangerous world.

What if it's an ancient world.

Wang Bo felt that as a modern person, he might not be able to adapt to the life of ancient people.

Having finally arrived in a modern world that wasn't too dangerous, Wang Bo truly didn't want to leave like this. Although he felt somewhat sorry for Spider-Gwen, for now he could only do his best to conceal it.

He wanted to stay in this world, to live an ordinary and uneventful life, and didn't want to keep working.

So Wang Bo silently said sorry to Spider-Gwen in his heart, though it did make his conscience ache a little.

Spider-Gwen had no idea that Wang Bo had thought about so many things in just over ten seconds; she was merely somewhat surprised by what he said.

"You mean, you woke up one day and became Falcone's subordinate."

"Yes." Wang Bo nodded.

"Can it really be like that?" Spider-Gwen was somewhat envious. She too had woken up one day to find herself transported, but she was in Gotham City, with no ties, no family, no friends, all alone.

And yet the other had become Falcone's underling, with food and lodging—what a poor deal that was.

Or was the other party lying, or hiding something from them?

Spider-Gwen's mind raced with countless thoughts, but she did not call this out. Instead, she said, "Let's join forces and take down Falcone together."

Wang Bo said, "This is Batman's job, Miss Gwen."

"But the Batman of this world has gone missing," Spider-Gwen said, having done her homework.

"Don't worry, he'll be back soon," Wang Bo said. "Since you've also read Batman comics, you should know what Batman did before he became Batman."

"Apprenticeship!" Spider-Gwen blurted out.

“Yes.”

Like Wang Bo, Spider-Gwen was also very clear about Batman's origin.

Bruce Wayne was born into the Wayne family, one of the four great families of Gotham City. One night, after watching the film Zorro, his parents took young Bruce home. As they passed through an alley, a thug robbed them.

The thug brutally murdered his parents right in front of Bruce.

From then on, Bruce developed a strong desire to eradicate evil with his own hands. To prevent others from suffering the same tragedy as he did, Bruce, relying on his extraordinary talent, spent decades traveling the world, visiting top-tier or legendary martial arts masters from both East and West, and learning various schools of combat techniques.

After returning to the United States, he used his immense wealth to create various high-tech equipment. Thereafter, by day, he was seen by others as a rich second-generation playboy.

At night, he is the Dark Knight who strikes fear into the hearts of criminals — Batman.

In this world, however, there is a slight difference.

First of all, Bruce Wayne did not watch the movie Zorro as a child, but rather an opera, and he even left halfway through.

Secondly, in this world, the Ninja Master became Bruce Wayne's mentor.

But this, Spider-Gwen did not know.

Because the origin of Batman in this world is slightly different from that in the comics.

However, this could not change Spider-Gwen's mind. "We can't wait for Batman to act. Who knows how long it'll be before he returns. We should capture Carmine Falcone as soon as possible and save this city. If we work together, we can definitely do it."

As a superhero, Spider-Gwen would never turn a blind eye to the crimes here just because it's Batman's territory.

Moreover, Bruce Wayne has not yet become Batman.

Wang Bo had a headache. It seemed that this Spider-Gwen really regarded him as her companion.

“I refuse.”

“You, a superhero, don't make things difficult for an ordinary person like me, okay, Miss Gwen.”

"How about we keep our separate ways? Look, I haven't revealed your identity all these days—that's already a sign of good faith, isn't it?"

Spider-Gwen looked at Wang Bo with disappointment. She had originally thought he was her ally, but now it seemed... he was not.

"Alright, maybe I shouldn't have dragged you into this." Spider-Gwen released her web, and while Wang Bo wasn't paying attention, she hoisted him up.

“You’d better stay like this until your companions come. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”

"Okay, I agree." Wang Bo nodded cheerfully, not minding at all that he was hung up; rather, he was quite pleased, as this gave him ample reason to explain to his companions.

Half an hour later, Wang Bo's phone rang.

But because Wang Bo was suspended, he had no way to answer his phone.

But Wang Bo was well aware that this call must be from Leonardo, who wanted to confirm Wang Bo's location and, incidentally, find out Spider-Gwen's whereabouts from Wang Bo himself.

The phone rang a few times and then stopped automatically. Wang Bo said to Spider-Gwen, "It looks like Falcone's men have already arrived."

Spider-Gwen smiled slightly. It was time to make a big move.
