Chapter 014: Lust for Power

获得主角能力的我只想过平凡生活 · 第014章 权力欲

After finishing this round of feeding, Wang Bo decided he would never again use Zarathos to feed this group of demons.

It was too wasteful; better to keep him, and if he ever encountered a human who swore loyalty to him, he could transform that person into a Ghost Rider. Once the Ghost Rider grew strong, it would be another great asset.

Afterwards, Wang Bo went to see Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing.

The two women had been diligently cultivating in the Time Villa, and their strength had increased significantly, but unfortunately, with this kind of cultivation, without a hundred or eighty years, it was hard to achieve much.

Especially for妖怪 like Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing, cultivation was even more prolonged.

It would take several hundred or even a thousand years to become a great demon.

But even so, they were still no match for Wang Bo.

After all, a great demon might sound terrifying, but it could only throw its weight around in the mortal world; any immortal who descended, unless they were truly terrible, could teach a great demon a lesson.

Moreover, the cultivation methods Xiao Bai and Xiao Qing practiced were not profound.

Compared to the legendary Eight-Nine Arcane Art, the Great Heavenly Immortal Art, the Thirty-Six Heavenly Transformations, and the like, they were far inferior. Even if they cultivated for a thousand or eight hundred years, they might not be able to help Wang Bo.

Yet even so, the two women did not give up.

Wang Bo would be lying if he said he wasn't moved.

So this time, besides feeding the demons, he also took the opportunity to spend some quality time with the two women, pouring out his longing.

Apart from that, Wang Bo also went to check on the enlarged Orichalcum.

Since the last time Wang Bo enlarged it with the Enlarging Lamp, it had been sitting in the Time Villa for a while, and it still hadn't returned to its original state.

Clearly, after the Enlarging Lamp was enhanced, its effect was formidable.

Wang Bo didn't touch it; he left it where it was. He wanted to see how long the Enlarging Lamp's effect would last, or whether the enhanced Enlarging Lamp could permanently enlarge objects.

Wang Bo lingered in the Time Villa for several months before finally leaving.

But in the real world, only a few hours had passed.

As soon as Wang Bo stepped out of the Time Villa and stood on the grounds of St. Michael's Church, he decided to find Hela. Hela had gone to find the Ghost Rider last night and then seemed to have vanished, never reappearing.

Even when the Ghost Rider appeared before him, Hela did not show up.

This made Wang Bo quite curious about where Hela had gone, but he wasn't worried about her safety, since in this world, there were few who could destroy Hela.

Not even Mephisto could do it, because Hela was also a genuine deity.

However, to Wang Bo's surprise, he circled the city several times without finding any trace of Hela. So he expanded the search to the entire state of Texas, but even then, he still found no sign of Hela.

With no other choice, Wang Bo expanded the search to the entire western United States.

But Hela seemed to have vanished into thin air.

Only then did Wang Bo begin to feel uneasy. Could something have actually happened to Hela?

Just then, Hela appeared before Wang Bo like a gust of wind. But to Wang Bo's surprise, Hela's aura was unstable, her face pale, her magic greatly diminished, and she looked quite disheveled.

Wang Bo asked in surprise, "What happened to you?"

Hela said nonchalantly, "I went to Hell and found Mephisto."

Wang Bo: "...What did you go to Hell for? That's Mephisto's territory. I thought you were looking for the Ghost Rider; how did you suddenly detour to Hell?"

Hela said, "While searching for the Ghost Rider, I clashed with Mephisto. After destroying his projection, I entered Hell. I wanted to try and see if I could kill Mephisto, take his place, and become the Lord of Hell."

Upon hearing this, Wang Bo couldn't help but give a thumbs up.

"When it comes to recklessness, I crown you the strongest!"

Hell is Mephisto's lair. In Hell, Mephisto's power is immense. The fact that he has held onto Hell for so many years without being killed proves he has some skills.

Hela, an outsider with no foundation, wanted to kill Mephisto and take his place—that was way too reckless.

"Aren't you afraid you might never come back?"

"But I did come back," Hela said lightly.

Wang Bo looked her up and down. "From the looks of you, you took a beating, didn't you?"

Hela's eyes flickered a few times before she said slowly, "Mephisto is strong, but not overwhelmingly so. If we join forces, we might be able to kill Mephisto..."

"Stop right there." Wang Bo saw through her bold idea and quickly said, "I have no interest in Hell, nor do I want to become the Lord of Hell."

Hela said, "You should help me."

"Why?" Wang Bo countered.

"We're on the same side."

Wang Bo shook his head and said, "To be precise, we are not on the same side. We are merely fellow travelers on the same road for a stretch. We do not infringe on each other, nor do we interfere with each other—that's all. Perhaps my easygoing nature these days has given you a misunderstanding, but let me remind you now: I have no reason to help you fight Mephisto, nor do I have any reason to help you become the Lord of Hell."

Hela said, "If you help me become the Lord of Hell, then when I return to Asgard, I can make you a prince of Asgard."

Wang Bo was taken aback. "Are you going to marry me?"

Hela said, "Not marry you, but make you a prince of Asgard."

Hela knew Wang Bo's strength well; he was more than qualified to be her husband. When they returned to Asgard, the two of them joining forces would be enough to defeat Odin and ascend to the throne of Asgard.

Then, they could even join forces to make Asgard dominate the universe.

Wang Bo looked into Hela's eyes and found that when she said this, it was as simple and direct as asking if he had eaten, without a hint of shyness. In her eyes, he saw not a trace of love.

Not even a hint of fondness.

In Hela's eyes, he was just a tool. She didn't care who she married, as long as that person could help her; she was indifferent.

This was a ruthless person.

A ruthless person willing to trade herself, even her own happiness, for gain. There was no love in her eyes; the only familial affection she had was severed when Odin imprisoned her.

Now, Hela was a goddess whose lust for power surpassed everything else.

She wanted to become the Lord of Hell and to rule Asgard. As long as Wang Bo could help her achieve this, she was willing to make him her husband.
